Chereads / Annie Grey / Chapter 255 - Closure

Chapter 255 - Closure

"So how did talking with Maddie go?" asked Matt as they were eating breakfast, Maddie was sitting quietly and eating, lost in her food, or more specifically her thoughts.

Annie and Matt were communicating with their thoughts, so the atmosphere in the cafeteria was sad and quiet.

"It went horrible" replied Annie as she had an upset look on her face.

"Maddie didn't tell me anything, we ended up arguing about something else" said Annie as she sighed, and she ate her breakfast.

"I can see that, Maddie looks upset" said Matt as he looked at Maddie.

"The problem is she doesn't want to talk, she claims that everything is fine" said Annie

"And I don't believe her, If she keeps on hiding her emotions, she would end up breaking down" said Annie

"*Sigh* I know" said Matt

"But Curtis says that we should not worry, he believes that Maddie will be fine" said Matt.

"Well that's for him, of course he thinks that, but we are people, we have emotions and feelings, and ignoring our feelings are dangerous" said Annie

"Well maybe we just have to wait for when she feels like she wants to talk" said Matt

"That's the only option we have, since she's still angry with me" said Annie

"But do you think that maybe we are actually a little bit overreacting, maybe Maddie is actually fine, and we are just annoying her by asking her if she's okay over and over again" said Matt.

"I don't think we are" said Annie

"We are her friends, of course we worry about her" said Annie

"Besides no matter how much she doesn't like her parents they are still her parents, she spent almost all her life with them, which is why I believe that there is no way that this does not affect her at all" said Annie

"Or maybe she just doesn't realize that it will affect her sooner or later" said Annie

"I think you are right" said Matt

"But pushing her to open up, with do nothing but damage" said Matt

"She would probably think that we are nosy and annoying" said Matt

"Yeah, you're right, that's exactly what's happening right now, she's angry at me for being annoying" said Annie

"So we just have to relax, and play it cool, and maybe we should act like nothing at all happened, so she would finally calm down" said Matt

"Mhmm that's a good plan, I think that should work" said Annie

"Gosh why are you so smart??" asked Annie as she looked at Matt, and Matt smiled at her.

"Well it must be because I am eating delicious eggs" said Matt as he ate.

"Haha okay then Mr. Eggs" said Annie as she laughed in her mind.

"Good Morning everyone" said Curtis as he walked into the room.

"Good Morning Curtis" said Annie

"Morning Curtis" said Matt.

"Hi" said Maddie

"Maddie, do you want to have a chess rematch today?" asked Curtis

"Sure why not" said Maddie, but her tone was still down.

"What's with all the long faces??" asked Curtis as he sat down, he was especially surprised at Maddie's answer, where was the competitive glint in her eye??

Maddie looked at Annie, and Annie looked at Maddie, and then she looked at Matt, the three of them were having a silent war.

"Why don't you ask Annie?" said Maddie as she looked annoyed.

"Annie??" asked Curtis

"Well Maddie has been upset with me ever since last night" said Annie

"How come?" asked Curtis

"Because Annie, can be annoying and repetitive, and she does not mind her own business" said Maddie as she did not hide her anger.

"Look Maddie, I don't want to fight okay" said Annie

"I'm sorry if I came off as annoying, or nosy, I just worry about you, we all do" said Annie

"But if you say that you are fine, then we will leave it at that" said Annie

"So please don't be angry with me anymore, I am sorry" said Annie

"Annie I know that you meant well, I just don't like to be asked something, over and over again, it's irritating" said Maddie

"And I'm sorry for being upset with you, over something that's not important" said Maddie as she sighed.

"So is everything settled now??" asked Matt as he spoke up.

"Yes of course" said Maddie as she looked at Matt and she smiled.

"Right Annie?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie.

"Right" said Annie as she smiled.

"Finally, because when you two fight it's catastrophic" said Matt as he laughed.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean??" asked Maddie.

"We fight like normal people" said Maddie

"Rightttt" said Matt as he laughed and Annie laughed.

"Ugh, anyway, Curtis you better be serious, and ready to loose" said Maddie as she turned to Curtis as she grinned.

"The question is are you ready to loose?" asked Curtis as he grinned back, now this was the competitive Maddie he knew.

"Okay now this I have to see" said Matt

"According to my sources" said Matt as he looked at Annie.

"Your bored game matches are deadly" said Matt as he laughed.

"Well your sources are correct, because are matches are heated, especially when someone does not whine about being cheated on" said Maddie as she eyes Curtis in particular.

"Oh haha Maddie, we'll see" said Curtis as he did not look surprised.

"What's with all the laughs??" asked Lisa as she smiled and she walked into the room.

"Good Morning mom" said Annie as she smiled.

"Good Morning Aunt" said Maddie and Matt.

"Good Morning Lisa" said Curtis

"Good Morning everyone" said Lisa as she replied and smiled.

"So what were all the laughs I heard about?" asked Lisa as she sat down.

"Well nothing much mom, Curtis and Maddie were just talking about their next match of chess" said Annie as she laughed.

"Oh well that sounds interesting" said Lisa as she laughed.

"Oh it is mom trust me" said Annie as she laughed.

"Maddie dear are you okay?" asked Lisa

"Yes Aunt, I am perfectly fine" said Maddie as she smiled brightly at Lisa.

"Are you sure?" asked Lisa

"Yes Aunt, I am" said Maddie

"Okay dear, if you need anything at all, do not hesitate to tell me" said Lisa

"I know Aunt, Thank you" said Maddie

"You're welcome dear" said Lisa as she smiled.

"So what did everyone have for breakfast?" asked Lisa

"Well I had waffles" said Annie

"I had eggs" said Matt

"I had French toast" said Maddie

"Oooh so many different varieties" said Lisa

"I have no idea, what to have for breakfast" said Lisa as she laughed.

"Well Aunt, why don't you have French toast it's really good" said Maddie

"Really?" asked Lisa

"Of course" said Maddie

"Well then French toast it is" said Lisa and Maddie, Annie and Matt laughed.

"Mom where is dad?" asked Annie out of curiousity.

"Well your father went out early today with Lucas, and Jacob, so I have no idea where he is" said Lisa

"Ahh I see" said Annie as she did not notice the relieved look on Matt's face.

He was having a good morning, he did not want it to be ruined by Annie's father eyeing him uncomfortably.

Maddie noticed the look on Matt's face, and she could not contain herself and she started laughing.

"What's so funny?" asked Annie

"Oh nothing, nothing, don't mind me" said Maddie as she laughed.

...

"Poor girl, she lost her mother, and it came as a shock too" said Lisa

"It was definitely shocking" said Lucinda

"To be honest, this was the last type of news that I would have thought to hear" said Lucinda

"Tea?" asked Lucinda as she showed Lisa the teapot.

"No Thank you" said Lisa and Lucinda put the teapot down.

"It's not easy to loosing parents" said Lisa

"I remember when my mom died, I was still in shock I could not believe it" said Lisa

"I can just imagine" said Lucinda as she sipped her tea, and she placed the teacup back on the saucer.

"I cannot relate, seeing as both my parents are alive" she said.

But to come to think of it Lucinda was luckier than most, she still had both her parents, and her mother?? well her mother looked as young as a woman her age could be, maybe it had something to do with the fact that they were witches.

"You really are lucky, my dad passed away when I was a teenager, and my mom passed away a year before Annie was born" said Lisa

"I am so sorry" said Lucinda

"Haha don't be, you had nothing to do with it, if you did that would be way too weird" said Lisa as she laughed.

"That is true" laughed Lucinda gently

"But Lis, you have to remember that Maddie did not have the kind of close relationship with her parents, and especially her mother, as far as I know" said Lucinda as she sipped her tea.

"I know, but she was still her mother" said Lisa

"Even though they did not get along, death is a huge loss," she said sadly.

"I am sure that what Maddie needs is closure" said Lisa

"Considering the circumstances we are in right now, I doubt that would be possible" said Lucinda

"It's a shame that she cannot" said Lisa

"I know, but Maddie is strong, she does not even seem sad at all" said Lucinda.

"That's what I am worried about" said Lisa as she looked outside the window.
