"My Chancellor" came the voice of a female Witch as she rushed into Stella's office and bowed her head to the ground.
"Report" said Stella quickly as there was no time for formalities right now.
"My Chancellor" said the Witch as she stood up quickly, she was shaky and panicky, and she was hyperventilating, she looked like she was having a panic attack.
"Relax, breathe" said Stella as she tried to calm her down, she needed information and fast, but a panicked informant would do her no good, she was already at the edge of her seat, she needed to know how bad the situation was.
"Yes My Chancellor" said the Witch as she steadied her breathing.
"Good, now tell me slowly what has happened" said Stella
"My Chancellor, do you want a detailed report or a short one?" asked the Witch as she was now calm.
"A short one" said Stella
"My Chancellor, not only is our defense broken but over half of the camp is down" she said.
"How can this be?" asked Stella
"MY Chancellor shortly after the barrier was broken, potion bombs began to be thrown, and it caught us unaware" she said
"Those who were hit immediately went into sleep like state, they were still conscious but they appeared to be in pain" she said as she explained.
"This could only mean one thing..." she said
"Witches Brew" said Stella as she finished her sentence for her.
Stella was devastated, Witches brew?? Azazel was really that wicked, to play that dirty, but then again he was Azazel, he never played by the rules in the first place.
"Yes My Chancellor" replied the Witch
"But I observe that it's only in small quantities, but those who were affected are in serious pain" she said grimly.
Stella was in a pickle, she did not know what to do, she could not just use her magic to try to save everyone that was hit, that would take too much energy from her, she just did not know what to do.
"Do you know if by any chance Armand was hit?" asked Stella
"Yes My Chancellor, he is fine, in fact he was the one who sent me here" said the Witch.
"Okay then, go and gather all those who were hit and take them to the infirmary, you and Armand and whoever else is fine, should do this" said Stella
"Yes My Chancellor" said the witch.
"When you are done with that, tell Armand to come see me" said Stella, as that would give her some time to think of what to do next.
"Yes My Chancellor" she said
"Now go" said Stella
"Yes My Chancellor" said the witch as she ran quickly to go to as she was told, leaving Stella alone with her raging thoughts.
Meanwhile back with Annie, Maddie and Matt.
"Curtis what are you doing here?? You never told me you were coming" said Annie as she was shocked, and so were Matt and Maddie, of all the people they expected to see today, Curtis was at the bottom of the list.
The book was just very reserved and suspicious, he never told them about any of his plans, he had refused to come with them, in the name of he needed to take care of some things first, but he could have at least notified them.
"Annie that's not important right now, we have more important things to deal with" said Curtis in his usual tone.
Wow the "That's not important right now" phrase of Curtis, at this point they were all used to it.
"Over here" said Curtis as he called out for someone.
"Curtis did you also hear when the ground was shaking?" asked Maddie as she stood up.
"Yes, the barrier was being broken" he explained.
"Did you find them?" came the voice of someone very familiar.
"I did" said Curtis
"Grandfather??" said Matt in utter confusion.
"Professor Sapiens??" said Maddie and Annie at the same time when they saw who it was.
Today was like a reunion, but under bad circumstances, the question was, what was Curtis doing here and why was Sapiens here with him??
"Hello children" said Sapiens as he greeted them back.
"Look not only was the barrier broken but half of the camp is poisoned with Witches brew" said Curtis as he brought back their attention to the matter on ground.
"What Witches brew??" asked Annie in shock, that was the deadliest poison ever.
"So you are telling me that over half the camp is poisoned?" asked Maddie as she could not believe this.
"That is the truth" said Curtis as he looked at Maddie
"Are they dead??" asked Maddie carefully.
"No they are not, the poison was administered in a small dose, but it is still fatal, most of them are in so much pain" said Sapiens as he chipped in.
"Is there anything we can do to save them?" asked Annie.
"There is" replied Curtis
"But wait I thought that witches brew had no cure?" asked Maddie
"So did I.. until" said Curtis
"Until what??" asked Annie and Maddie.
"Follow me" said Curtis
"Where??" asked Annie
"Outside" said Curtis
"But Mira told us to not go out no matter what" said Annie
"Well I am here now, and we have to move quickly, so let's go" said Curtis as he went outside with Sapiens, and they had no other choice than to follow him.
As Annie, Maddie and Matt went outside they noticed just how much damage was caused, tents were flowing away, the ground looked like it was torn up and the sky had become dark as if it wanted to rain.
They realized at that point, that they were lucky that the tent that they were in did not collapse like the others.
Annie looked around, when she noticed something wet and sticky on the ground, it had an enchanting colour that called to her to touch it.
"Don't touch that" came Curtis stern voice as he stopped Annie from touching it.
"That's the witches brew" he said
"Gosh" said Annie as she retracted her hand quickly.
"Matt come and stand over here" said Curtis as he pointed ahead.
"Okay??" said Matt
"Are you sure that this will work?? what if it doesn't?" asked Sapiens warily.
Curtis gave him no reply, all he did was reach out and take a potion that he kept in his pocket.
"Annie, Maddie move far away" he said
"Okay???" said Annie and Maddie as they were confused but they did as they were told.
Curtis looked at the potion in his hand, and without a doubt he quickly threw it and the vial broke right where Matt was standing and the potion dispersed and touched him.
Matt coughed as the fumes went up his nose.
"It worked" said Sapiens like he had just found gold.
"What worked?? and what was that?" asked Matt as he was still coughing.
"That was witches brew" said Sapiens
"What, you used witches brew on Matt?" asked Annie as she was extremely worried.
"Yes, Curtis came to me, saying that he had a theory" said Sapiens.
"He said that Matt was immune to witches brew" said Sapiens
"Huh??" asked Maddie as at this point she did not know what was going on.
"Look a few months ago, I started noticing things, Matt was not affected by many things we witches are" said Curtis as he explained.
"It maybe has something to do with his mixed genes, but he's immune to most things that are deadly to both races" explained Curtis.
"Okay, but how were you sure that he was immune to Witches Brew?" asked Annie
"I wasn't" came the blunt reply of Curtis
"Look before you start scolding me, how could we be sure of something if we don't try it?" asked Curtis as he looked at Annie
"We tried it, and it works, he's immune" said Curtis
Maddie was very quiet, everything was just unfolding at a very quick pace, she could not keep up.
"But still Curtis, this could have been dangerous" said Annie
"What's dangerous is that there are thousands of Witches who are in need of an antidote right now, and we have found the cure and lots of souls are saved" said Curtis.
There was a standstill between Annie and Curtis right now, Curtis knew that it was not only him testing witches brew on Matt, that made Annie this way, he would deal with her later but for now, they needed to act fact.
"Matt we need your blood to make an antidote, would you donate some?" asked Sapiens
"Sure, you can take as much blood as you need" said Matt as he did not hesitate to agree, if there was a way for him to help, he would surely do it.
"Good, let's go then, follow me" said Sapiens as he began to walk quickly.
"Okay" said Matt as he followed after him.
"Hey wait for me, I'm coming to" said Maddie as she followed after them.
"Annie not now, we have bigger problems" said Curtis as he looked at Annie
"Fine" said Annie as she walked away, and followed at Maddie, and Curtis followed behind them all, but first he had to make a quick stop at Stella's office.
