Chapter 5 - Chapter 03: The Lawyer

Everything was going so good, from the food which consisted of pasta and veggies with some sauce and some snacks. There was also a champagne which was tasty and delicious, from time to time Katherine would see how Marcus was looking at her. Like a prey who was hunted by a predator, but she was a model and loved attention.

Two hour later something happened, Marcus had a call from his office and he had to leave. Martin was the one who picked up the call and he told him everything that happened at the office.

"Is that urgent Martin?" He asked pissed by the interruption.

"I'm afraid so Sir"

He hit the table hard until he broke his right arm, Katherine was shocked by his temper. Martin and the other bodyguards rushed to get a first aid kit for him and bandaged up his wound before he stood up suddenly and left the hotel.

Marcus didn't say anything to Katherine and he was pissed. His face was serious and he pinched his jaws while trying to stay calm inside the elevator. There were no goodbye words to Katherine nor a reason for his actions, he just left the hotel with his bodyguards.

Katherine walked to Sandra "Hey I'm just curious about Mr Orlando, will he come back?" she asked.

"I'm sorry Ma'am but I'm not sure. He didn't tell you anything?"

"No he didn't... he just vanished"

"Well I'm sorry ma'am but I can't help you in that situation"

"It's all right darling don't fuss about it" said Katherine and walked back to the table. She had a glass of Dom Perigon P3, Champagne France which was over three thousands dollars in price.

She hummed along the way as the wine was warm and tasty, then she walked outside of the dining room and disappeared into the crowded city of New York.

Marcus was in no mood for anything that afternoon after his dream date with Katherine was ruined. He reached his office and went straight to his office. And sat on his chair, he took two deep breaths to calm his racing mind which all over the place - he needed cocaine badly.

"Sir..." barged in his secretary Phoebe who was holding papers.

"What is it with the interruptions? It better be worth it"

"Umh sir we received a guest"

"There are always guests Phoebe go straight to the point" he said.

"This one in particular requested a private audience with you"

"Is he the president of the United States?"

"No sir"

"Is he the Vice President of the United States?"

"No sir?"

"States secretary then?"

"I'm afraid not sir"

Marcus got up and shouted "Then who the fuck is this motherfucker?" he barked and Martin barged in quickly.

He dismissed Phoebe and rushed to Marcus who was losing it, he was anxious and paranoid. He took off his shirt claiming he was feeling hot while the office was packed with air conditioners. His breath became short and he was close to having a panic attack. Martin knew exactly what was wrong with him, he's been with Marcus for a long time to know what was the problem when he was feeling like that.

Martin took a packet of heroine and tore it open, then he held Marcus close and have him sniff it all. "There you go... there you go" he said as Marcus held the packet close to his nostrils and when he was done, he raised up his head and gasped loudly.

"Whooooo" he screamed and leaned up on a wall for balance.

"You good now?" asked Martin

"Wait for it..."

"Sir we have a very important guest"

"Wait for it Martin..." said Marcus with his eyes closed as he waited for the drug to kick in and when it did, he jumped up for a bit and straightened his suit.

They had a moment of silence looking at one another, Martin was trying to make sure Marcus was all right and ready for his meeting while Marcus was waiting for the drug to have its full effect.

"Who's this guest Martin?"

"Heard she's a lawyer sir"

Marcus whined "Argh lawyers... I fucking hate lawyers. You know what Martin, them lawyers be thinking they all good and geniuses but trust me they are nothing but just thieves. Yes thieves who hid behind the word law to just still right from under our noses. I think all lawyers should just die"

"Marcus, Marcus look at me. We are not killing anyone today, okay?"

"Okay Dad. I heard you"

"Marcus this is serious. Are you sure you are okay to proceed with this meeting or I should cancel it"

"No, no and no. Don't cancel anything I'm good to go"

"You sure?"

"Yes sir!" he said and smiled.

Martin walked outside and informed Phoebe to let in the guest and he walked away. Phoebe walked to the waiting room to inform the guest who was waiting and returned back to his table.

Marcus's head was down and his eyes glued to a small black pen that he was holding. He was calm than usual, the heroine was taking its effects on him. He couldn't even lift up his head for he felt exhausted and blurrier. A door was opened and entered a woman, Marcus raised up his eyes to see her. Her Amazonian figure sat well on her wafer-thin body. She had a decanter shaped waist and her complexion had an impeccable, ochrous hue. Her pencil-thin eyebrows eased down gently to her black, beetle's-leg eyelashes. A sculptor could not have fashioned her seraph's ears and pixie's nose any better.

When she broke into a smile, her beguiling, oyster-white teeth lit up the room. It could jolt you like an electric current when that megawatt smile gave you her full attention. Filed to perfection, her Venus-red fingernails ran through her nougat-brown hair. Spools of it plunged around her photogenic face and hid a swan's neck, elegant and smooth. Marcus was taken by her nebulous, Eden-green eyes which were a-sparkle with the 'joie de vivre'. They were like two beryl-green jewels melted onto snow. Her calamine-pink lips felt like rose petals. It surprised him that they were plump and botox-boosted as she had a demure, timorous personality. Her voguish clothes still kept captive an aroma redolent of cinnamon and meadow-fresh mint. Marcus knew that it wound linger in the room long after she had gone.

Marcus felt like he was dreaming, perhaps he was for it had been a long time since he had a contact with such a Bonnie looking woman. Somehow he arose to his feet while his eyes were glued to the beauty of that woman.

"Good afternoon Mr Orlando"

"Good afternoon Miss...

"Actually it's Mrs Miller. Diana Davis Miller, but you can just call me Diana Miller"

"Oh Diana, please have a sit"

Diana sat down with her legs crossed, with that small short skirt she was wearing almost all of her juicy thighs were on display. But she always wore like that hence she didn't feel the need to have her costumes changed or feeling uncomfortable in front of Marcus.

"So Diana... what can I do for you?" asked Marcus looking straight at those eyes which swallowed him whole.

"I am here on the behalf of my company, Order and Justin Law Firm which I'm sure you are familiar with"

"Order and Justice Law Firm? Mm-hmm it doesn't ring a bell"

"It's still a new company"

"Oh I see..."

"But we did send the memos and the email instructions for about a week ago. I'm not so sure if you've read them"

"You see Diana I don't read emails"

"Okay, perhaps we should move on the next session then" said Diana and took out a piece of paper which was inside her purse.

Somehow she appeared to have misplaced her important piece of paper which contained all the names of beneficiaries who had volunteered to help her startup company. She was looking to get a funding from Marcus and somehow she grew anxious when the paper went missing for over five minutes.

"I'm sorry Mr Orlando but I may have appeared to misplace the paper which contained all the beneficiaries names I wanted to show them to you. My apologies..."

"It's nothing I'm sure. You are here for fundings aren't you?"

"I wouldn't exactly call it funding, but more of partnership"

"A partner?" he asked her but with a little bit of flirty smile on his face.

"Yes a partnership of twenty percentage of my company once it starts and running for a period of ten years"

Marcus got up from his seat and he walked to sit alongside Diana on that couch. He looked at her and his heartbeat raced, at first he thought Katherine had his heart and that he was done for but somehow Diana was something different. The way she talked, like a fully independent woman with dreams and destined for greatness. He almost slipped and tell her that she was very beautiful but when he remembered his position he quietly just looked - yearning to take her right then and there.

"I couldn't help but notice that you introduced yourself as Mrs..." he said.

"Yes I did. Mrs Miller"

"Is Miller your husband's name?"

"It's Jacob Miller"

He cleared his throat, placed his eyes down and then he stretched his hand towards Diana. But Diana didn't shook his hand, she started to nervous around his presence which made her feel uncomfortable and awkward.

"You can call me Marcus"

"I don't think if it's right for me to call my partners with by their names. I like it when we keep it official"

"You don't like it when it's not official?"

"I think I've probably presented my best proposal of what I need and wants for my company to run Mr Orlando, I've worked as a lawyer for five years and I know what I'm doing. Invest in me and I will not let you down, that is a promise"

Marcus smiled at her and the way she was so straightforward with her needs and wants.

"I like a woman who knows what she needs... and wants. I think it's hot, don't you think so too Diana?"

"I wouldn't agree more Mr Orlando"

"This husband of yours, I take it he's broke isn't he?" he said. But it was a joke and he expected for them to laugh along with it but Diana was pissed by it.

She became silent but her face clearly showed everything that she wasn't feeling good about Marcus insulting her husband.

"Did I say something wrong Mrs Miller?" Marcus asked with cautious and worried that he may have maybe made her mad.

"Like I said earlier Mr Orlando, please let's keep it professional I wouldn't like nor go along with us talking about my husband"

"I'm so sorry Diana, my apologies..."

Diana got up and faced Marcus "I guess my time here is done Mr Orlando. I shall leave the papers with you including the contracts you may need signing just in case you agree with my proposals and decide to grant us the fund. In the mean time I must take my leave"

Marcus got up too and faced Diana, she wasn't that tall enough to stand head to head with Marcus who was a six footer even with her heels. But she wasn't also that short - her tallish figure managed to at least be at Marcus's shoulders. She was however a five foot eight woman and she used to play basketball back at law school.

"If I may have offended you with my question, I deeply apologize" said Marcus.

"Don't worry about that, it's all forgiven Marcus..." said Diana and the way she mentioned Marcus sounded all flirty and the smile she went along with it took Marcus's heart and soul.

He lingered and watched as she walked out his office door like a giraffe walking on a park. She was perfect from head to toe, her aroma filled his lungs and he inhaled all of it with his eyes closed. A simple damn escaped his lips and he returned back to his chair smiling and feeling stupid for acting weird in front of that hot woman.
