Chapter 184 - Daily Bread

"Welcome back to another episode of Mythilicious; the station that plays only the best hits from the best myths. The song you just heard was none other than Daniel's version of Hallelujah. Oh wait, look at the time. We are coming upon the hour the clock strikes, so you all know what that means. It's time for…..NAME…..THAT...MYTH!!!

I'll play a section of a popular story found nowadays, and the first person to call in with the correct name the myth that story is referring to will win GPS coordinates to...an unmanned hells portal door, me and my team found here on earth. Are you ready?"

"Wait. Unmanned hells portal? The only one around here I know of with that description would be...oh no!!!"

"Let's begin.

Our story takes place in a little cottage where a man had two daughters and a bit of money. Soon the money dried up and they had nothing. The first daughter was diligent and cleaned all day, while the lazy one sat around and scolded the other. One day, the father told the two girls that they need to go out and find work for money cause none is to be found. The diligent girl volunteered to leave first, and after some bread and drink, she left to do just that. Not a long ways off, she saw a dying talking tree that asked her to help clean his twigs so that he could make new stronger ones, in exchange for a good deed. The girl agreed and after helping, she went on her way. Next, she went to the Vine tree and after helping a broken oven, a broken well, and a dirty lamb; she arrived at a fairies house where seven of them stayed. The fairies told her she could stay there for a year only if she cleaned all six rooms but not touch the seventh. The diligent girl agreed and did as was told. After a year, she had earned enough riches and wanted to return home to her fam. The fairies said she could, but first wanted to show her the seventh room. In the seventh room was gold and silver laid everywhere. They instructed her to roll around in it and everything that stuck to her she could keep. As she went home, she passed all the characters she had helped and they all rewarded her. The sheep gave her pearls, the well gave her a drink. The oven gave her bread, the tree gave her wine, and then the first tree gave her fruit.

The second girl left home and did the same thing but she didn't help any of the characters, and when she arrived at the fairies, she couldn't help but look in the seventh room. Upon looking, she got stung by bats and bees galore. Stung and defeated, she left the house and ran home. Upon her way, she tried reaching for all the trinkets that the characters gave the first girl, but they all wouldn't let her have it. Making it home, her father told her that good works are rewarded, but laziness is not. This story is none other than the lazy girl and the diligent girl. Now, can anyone tell me the myth that inspired this famously overused fairytale that is retold in many lights?"

"Please don't let anyone call in. Please don't let anyone call….."

"Excuse me for a second. We are I think….receiving a call.

'Tell me, what have you found?"

""The story you are referring to has not a name but I can describe it to you."

"Ohh….now you're telling me to name that myth? Please continue."

"The story comes to me vague but I shall try my best to recount it.

We begin with a family in a small shanty house. Three girls and their parents live peacefully, but then soon the parents die. Behind, they leave their daughters a small bag of coins they can use to sustain themselves. The girls agree to place the bag underneath the chimney and they do so diligently. One day a witch comes to their home, but after some talk, they let her in. Wanting food and warmth, they humbly help her, but upon turning their backs, the witch does not repay their hospitality and instead steals the girl's bag of coins and runs away. A few months later, with no coins, the girls must go out into the real world to find work for pay. The first girl leaves, and after crossing a talking mill, a tree, a cow, a dog, and a horse, she arrives at the witch's house not helping a single one of them. The Witch tells the girl to clean her whole house but not to clean under the chimney nor look beneath it. The girl cleans the house but then curiosity gets to her, and she steals under the chimney. Finding the bag of coins that the witch hid, she runs out of the house and back home. Along the way, she spots the creatures she saw, but decides not to help any of them. Reaching the Mill, she bothers not to help it turn, but instead seeks shelter inside it. Falling asleep, the witch returns back home and after realizing the coins are gone, she goes out to search for her. Asking the Horse, cow, tree, and others; they all direct her to where the girl is sleeping in the mill. The mill says, I have her captive in my Mill. Do your worst. The witch smiles happily and enters the mill. Finding the girl asleep and the bag of money by her head, she turns the girl to stone and takes back the coins. Same story goes for the second girl. She leaves home and meets the same ailments as the first, but when the third goes out, she turns an eye. After leaving with the coins she took, she helps all the creatures along the way. She rubs down the back of the horse. She waters the tree and it blooms forth. She milks the cow and bathes the dirty dog. Reaching the Mill, she turns it and then goes inside to sleep. When the Witch returns home and sees no coins, she tries going to the horse and others asking where the girl is, but none of them tell her. Arriving at the Mill, she goes inside and sees the girl. When she is about to touch her staff to the girl turning her to stone, the Mill revolts and pushes her into its slices, dicing and cutting her up. The Mill then tells the girl to take the Witches staff and touch the two stones leaning against the wall. She touches them and gets her siblings back. Finally the Mill tells her to touch it there bag of coins so that it will never be empty ever again. After that, he tells them to throw the staff into the fire so that it burns and can never be used again."

"Wooo…that was dark and sinister, but...….you are correct. The myth is that of the Stone witch and the heart that melts. All fairytales are, are just Mythologies with a nice twist. The portal is yours."

"Oh no. No, no, no. What should I do? Who knows what this person could be? Once he sees our portal and my world, we have none to defend. All the wolves are down here, the rest scattered, and the beasts back to chains."

*Vreeeeeeerooooooom*

"COME ON!!!! You too? No, no…nooo!!!

Where's the nearest gas station? Um…..I don't seem to see one for….."

"'WE interrupt this song to bring you reports of our latest discovery. The Stone Witch may be of mythology, but what if I were to tell you of a Healer Queen?"

"Huh?"

"This witch queen, although loving and sinister, who knows what she hides beneath her smile, or the power she has. Yesterday, she was seen healing millions and then falling asleep not much after. Maybe her energy weakens her and she is not as strong when is asleep? That is not so, for we see her…..mending two cars back whole and people. Is she a witch? Is she a healer? Is she a Queen, or maybe all three? If she be a queen with power....then who does she have power over, and do they also have powers of their own? What if one of them has not a heart so pure and wishes to use their power not to heal....BUT TO KILL!!!!!

Maybe the reason she is here is to establish a new colony before she can bring over the old. Can we wait that long, and should we wait that long? She may be nice and welcoming now, but what when she turns? Is the family she is hiding with safe? Is Laura and her family capable of holding such a being or should measures be taken to prevent a…..INTERCHANGING!!!!!!!!!!

Now back to the song."

"Tank is at a quarter. We can make it. Just gotta floor it."

*VROOOOOOOOM*

"What the? Go at the speed of light. Why are you going so….oh yea. Nightmaster made his cars go the speed of light, but Abby is just using other peoples cars to hold healing stations. That means the car will still drive like its normal self.

I don't have time for this. Time to drive on faith and not gas. Come on baby. Show me what you're made of."

"Fred, are you talking to that pillow again? I told you what that pillow is made of. I can assure you that you will not get an allergic reaction from it unlike the last pillow. You just have to trust me. The struggle I went through to find that one. I can take it back to the store if you're not happy with it. We do have ten days left on the thirty day money back guarantee."

"Oh no, Rachel, it's fine. Really. I love it."

"I knew you would. It was the last one."

"Wait, the last….."

"Goodnight!!!"

"Arrrrrgggg!!!

Roarrrr!!!!

Raaarrrrr!!!!

No…no…..

Raaackkkhhh

No…no….not here, not now. Not like….."

"ROOOAAAARRRR!!!!!"

"Honey, what was that?"

"What was what?"

"Did you hear that? It sounds like someone is banging on there door trying to get out. Listen."

"....I don't hear anything."

*BAM*

"What was that? I heard it."

"I told you."

*BAM*

"It sounds like it's coming from Abby's room, but it is not the usual toss and turn. Our beds don't squeak that much."

"Hun, that was louder then a squeak."

*BAM*

"What are you doing?"

"Stay here. I'm going to go see?"

"Then I'm coming with you. She is in our custody and as such belongs in our care."

*BAM*

"Fine, but stay behind me. *Chichiick*

"Fred, put your fathers gun back. It has already seen enough blood, and you have seen it."

"Rachel, whatever it is behind those walls is not Abby."

"What if it's her….other friends? You've already seen that you can't kill them."

*BAM*

"All of her friends are outside. Whatever is making that racket is definitely not an animal we have met, but I am intending to."

"Max, Serenity, get back to bed. What are you doing up?"

*BAM*

"Mommy, what's behind that door? Did that thing eat Abby?"

*BAM*

"I don't know, darling. I don't know."

"Maybe she herself is turning into an animal."

"Fred!!"

"No, think about it. Why would she feel comfortable turning animals into life, if she herself were not affiliated with any. Maybe it is her defensive mechanism. Violet did say that God had to have given her one to protect her."

"If that is so, then…."

*BAM*

"What is she protecting from?"

"Awooooooooooo!!!!!!"

"We have not harmed her in any way. We have clothed her, loved her, and even have done our best to make her feel at home. The only other thing I could think of that would prompt her to protect herself would be if she is alone and afraid of where is, but I can assure you that she is not confused. She told us about her homeland and thanked us for giving her a replica."

"Then what else could it be? If she has not turned for protection, then what?"

"Do you hear that?"

"What? This time I don't genuinely hear anything."

"Everybody stay still. Something is missing in this situation."

"What? I don't feel like anything is...oh no."

"What?"

"Where's the dogs?"

"Didn't you have them put outside with the other animals?"

"No…..I brought them in. You don't think that she could have..."

"Rachel, don't say it."

"Mommy what? What did Abby do?"

"GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Awooooooooooooo!!!!!!"

"....She ate them!!!!!!!"

"That's it. Let me in there."

"Honey, wait. Don't you see?"

"No, but it's what I don't see that I get. She ate our dogs."

"No, honey. She didn't eat them, but the animal that is inside her. We have fed her, but we have not fed what is inside her. Whatever that is…..is hungry. It's looking for meat!!!"

"Grrrrrr...Ruff!!! Ruff!!!!!!"

"Then why don't we just bare the door and keep her inside?"

"That's no way to treat a girl. You don't take one from their home just to have them locked up in another."

"She's not a girl. SHE'S A BEAST!!!!!!
