Chapter 43 - Twisted

"I'm sure you have all heard the story of Moses have you not?"

"We have."

"Good! So you are confident that you know every detail of Moses' flight out of Egypt?"

"Mist, all religions spawn off of details of other religions so it's okay to read other religious books from time to time but just don't start believing in them."

"Huu! Smart girl Abby. Smart girl!! We shall begin by picking apart the sixth commandment of God. Thou shall not kill. The red sea wasn't the only water Moses and his men stopped at. There were two other smaller rivers that they came to but the water was unsafe to drink so God told Moses to throw something small in the water and it would be made pure. Forgot what it was he threw in though. There was also another time where Moses met a rock and God told him to hit it so that it would spray forth water. He did and the water came forth so that's probably the reason Moses hit the rock on his second run even though God told him that he was to speak to it this time. Moses probably tired, hungry, and thirsty thought that since I struck the rock the last time and water sprayed forth then if I strike it again this time water will do the same thing. Although Moses disobeyed God and for it God said he could not enter the promised land; He still sent forth water which means that even when we disobey God, God will still supply our needs cause He knows we need them. All of that is besides the point I'm trying to make but it still is valid. All of that shows that we don't need to follow God's commands exactly and He'll still provide us everything we need. If that's not a glitch in the system then I don't know what is.

Back to the matter of the Sixth Commandment we find Moses coming down from the Mountain with two stones in hand bearing the ten commandments. He gets furious that a calf was built in his half a month absence so he goes to his brother for answers. His brother says I was fearing for my life. They wanted me to make them a god or else I might end up in the fire so I caved and made them a god. I'm sorry brother.

Brother, I understand what you did and forgive you. I don't know how I would have reacted in that situation either but for the rest of your Israelites how could you find it in yourself to have Aaron make a god for you. I'll burn this calf and then ask any of you who still believe in God to come forth. Out of all the tribes the Levites were the only ones that came forward so here is what Moses told all the other people to do. He said that the only way God will forgive you of your actions is if you go all Friday the 13th and kill as many of each other as you can in one night. Then and only then will your sins be removed. You can use any weapon you want, any skill you want, and even kill anyone you want. Nowhere in this dessert is safe for you to run. In the morning, report back to me what the kill count is. Morning came and the sun shone upon three thousand lifeless bodies soaked in their own blood. Moses said I condone you for what you did and the Father has found favor in your actions but for the rest of you that doesn't mean you're off the hook. A plague of blisters shall fall upon you and this day you will know that the Lord God He is God. Now I will go back up the mountain and plead on your behalf so that the Father might let me rewrite the ten commandments. Once he came down the second time then that's when his face glown bright but the glow in his face slowly died out in the weeks ahead.

So!! The Bible says not to kill but when one does kill God doesn't punish them for it. He says I have found favor in what you've done. My question for you is does it seem fair and just that the only way God's people could forgiveness in Him was if they killed each other or do you think there possibly could've been a better way of dealing with the situation?"

"You do make a good point that does not have an easy answer to it in the slighest. I'm Intrigued. Please go on."

"Thank you. Are you ready to move onto this next story. Now this story is of a man that God said was a man after His own heart. You might ask how is that possible when king David commits four sins from the ten commandments. He lies, he steals, he commits adultery, and he covets. That's a whopper and not in a yummy delictable way either. Moses' men only commited five of these commandments but again they were a group and not a single person so it makes sense their punishment was more severe. They worshiped other gods, they made idols, they missused the name of God, they didn't keep the Sabath day holy, and they stole. Technically you could say they committed six acts then since they didn't honour their father and mother who came before them but if we were to get all technical then none of the Bible would be real. That is not true, there are just some parts of the Bible we need help understanding clearer that's all."

"Let me guess, you're here to help us better understand what we're reading?"

"That is correcto. So for this story we find king David for some reason either looking out the window on the first floor on top of his castle instead of doing his duties as a king as in protecting his people. Anyways he rather spend his days looking out his window and distracting his mind by staring at a naked beauty while she is taking showers on the roof. Now I don't know how houses were constructed back then but if you can look out your window and see people bathing naked on rooftops without having to use binoculars then something is wrong. They may not have had vents going out of their house to let the smoke out but that doesn't mean you bathe out in public. Sorry, I keep going off on bunny trails here. Needless to say King David has everything. He has killed a giant, defended the Israelites, brought his town back to serving God, has all the servants, maids and everything he could ever want in life. He's got the gold and he's got the cattle. He might not have been as wealthy and rich as his son Solomon but David was still a good guy in my book. Sadly lust takes over young or rich and you crave to have more. You're never satisfied nor content with where you are at so you strive to have something even though you know it's already someone elses.

David asks one of his servants to go find out who that girl is and his servant questions as to why but David starts to become furious and says, 'I SAID GO!!!!' So the servant goes out, asks her and then comes back to David saying that she is already taken. Her husband is serving in your royal army. There are a lot of other suitable matches for you so why do you want her? David spits out again and says I don't care if she is taken. Bring her to me this instant. The servant obeys and brings Bathsheba in. She asks why she is there and he says don't worry about a thing. Please come eat and drink with me as we honor our men who are serving. She agrees, they eat, drink, and then they sleep. David does this a few more times but then one night he gets her pregnant. Fearing what Uriah will think when he comes back and finds a baby he is bound to tell his wife how this is to be. She will tell him and it'll be just a big ugly mess so if he can get Uriah back here and sleep with his wife then who knows what could happen. David can just say I know you slept with your wife so that baby has to be yours. Aa how far we've come with dna test kits!!

Uriah comes forth and thinking proud that the King summoned him he goes on to tell of the joys of battle, the hard fought men and the proud victories of woo his men have overcome. David says that is quite a story. You should go home and rest now with your wife then I'll see to it you go back. Uriah says okay and leaves but the next day David finds that Uriah slept at the castle. He asks Uriah how could he sleep here and not in the comforts of his bed and Uriah says it is not fair I get to sleep in my warm bed and lay next to my wife when I know my men are sleeping on the ground. I really wanted to lay with his wife last night but felt too guilty to do it. David says okay I can understand that but will you at least come in and feast with me? Don't want you going back to battle tomorrow on an empty stomach. Uriah agrees and they eat, drink, and be merry. Everytime Uriah is about to spill his cup David makes sure a servant is there to steady the cup and fill it back up while David himself drinks not a drop. Once the meal is over David says I think it is best you go home and lay with your wife. You have a good rest now. Uriah says that sounds like a plan but so drunk as he is he doesn't even make it past the front door before he passes out and again sleeps in the temple.

The next morning David finds him and realizes that his plan A is not working so he has to go to plan B. So when Uriah has maintaned a level of soberiety he goes to David and says although I've enjoyed this meal and the time with you these past few days I feel it best to start heading back to battle. David says I too have enjoyed our chats but before you go can you do one last favor for me? Can you bring this letter to your commander in chief? Don't open it now. Uriah, being a good messenger, delivers the letter without once opening but upon it being read his face turns to shock. On it king David has written that Uriah be sent to the fiercest parts of the battle while everybody else falls back. Signed-King David. Uriah of course dies in battle and a few weeks later David takes Bathsheba to be his second, or maybe was it third? Could it have been his fourth wife. I keep forgetting how many wives David had. Anyways she becomes just another wife of his but God does not like how she came to be his wife So He sends over His prophet Nathan to tell King David a little parable. There was one day a rich young ruler and a poor man. Now the poor man had a lamb that he loved like his own child. He fed it, cared for it and raised it as his own. When the day of Sacrifice came, someone came up to the King and said I need one of your lambs so I can sacrifice it. The rich ruler thought about it for a minute and instead of offering one of his own abundance of lambs he instead went to the poor man and stole his lamb for the sacrifice.

David of course became outraged at this and demanded that the rule be brought to justice. May he be executed for all his crimes. Nathan turned to him and said that the rich young ruler is you. Let's pause here for a minute and think. I know there have been a lot of people both prophets and common folk of the Bible that have gone against the King and ratted them out but you have to think on this. With every king they have the power who speaks to them and when. If someone speaks to them out of turn or it's something the king doesn't like then the King has the person beheaded on spot. No I'm not talking about right there in his throne room but you know what I mean. Regardless of where; King David does not kill Nathan anywhere but instead repents and asks forgiveness from God. God grants his forgiveness but punishes David's actions by saying that the baby in Bathsheba's belly will surely die before it is born. The baby dies and then years later I don't know if God starts to feel sorry for what He did or what but then he lets David and Bathsheba have another baby and this time Solomon lives!!"

"Tha….That's a lot to digest what you just brought us."

"I know I know. Please take your time and I'm here to answer any questions you will have."

"Mist sir? We know that you separated Sixth Star from us so that you could talk to us alone but can we please ask Sixth Star these questions? If she does not and cannot give us any sort of answer then we'll come back to you."

"I will grant you these two days and seven hours remaining."

"How do you have the time? We might not even see Sixth Star again before these three days are up. What then?"

"I promise you that you'll see her again, maybe even sooner than you think. For now that is all I have for story time so Ta Ta!!!"
