Chapter 34 - Chapter 33: Black Death (2)

(Unknown POV)

I sat at the dining table as I savored the taste of this relaxing tea that I was currently drinking.

My thoughts were lost on the event that had occurred two days ago back when I was tasked by our leader to assess the situation in the academy for anything that's out of place that would hinder our plans.

Anyways, that was certainly a fascinating experiment, if I should say so myself.

To think that I was able to control a Dragon. Even if it was quite exhausting on my part, it's nonetheless a fruitful endeavor that I have managed to achieve.

Still, the girl, Anastasia Dragonheart was certainly persistent, and it proved difficult in maintaining control over, especially in her Ancient Dragon Mode. Controlling in her inferior human form was of no issue, however.

Regardless, my astonishment instantly soared high when I saw who the Dragon girl's opponent was.

It's him.

The Magus of Infinity himself, right in the very open.

Never would I imagined that I get to witness a figure of legend in this era that we lived in. Here I thought that such an anomaly was simply a relic from our history.

And to think that the magic that derived from the God Arkadia himself resonated in him, a young boy who has not even reached his adulthood. This meant that he has more room to grow and will only become even more powerful in the future if we leave things as it is, assuming that he trained his magic diligently.

Although I'm not so sure about the training part since he's already capable of comprehending spells in their perfect state. What he simply needed to do was just to look at a spell and everything shall take its rightful place.

Really, that's definitely unfair to us Mages who are still required to learn the spells the old-fashioned way, either by reading the spell book or being tutored by a more experienced mage.

Or in my case… consorting with some dark entities for knowledge.

With this issue on hand, I made a quick call to a certain leader of ours with the Quartz that we obtained through unsavory means.

Fortunately, we have a magic engineer on our side, and the bastard was one hell of a genius to modify the communication device so all of us may use it to call one another from a safe distance.

A few seconds later, the male voice from the device made itself known.

"You called, Erika?"

I answered him quickly back upon hearing my name.

"Yes, Father. I wish to make a report regarding my visit at the academy a few days back."

Father was the title that we refer to the man who led us. As our great leader, he's an individual of incredible wisdom and judgment who aspired to save and renew all of mankind from the deceit that has been plaguing us for a very long time.

Silence reign for a few moments before the man responded.

"Proceed."

I complied with his order without question.

"During my infiltration, the many entrance examinations of the academy took place during the course for the past different days. Among the notable candidates were the twin siblings of the Dragon race, a Kenjutsu user from Akanir, an eccentric Bard, a priestess with Divine Healing, the Ice princess from Jutland, the Mage Killer, a Demon of Seduction, the two heirs of both the Aquarius and Ulford house respectively, and of course… my beloved little sister, Miabi, fufufu."

"Hmm, your little sister, the one that they call the Aventus prodigy who defeated your former family's heiress in front of the whole clan and was inducted into the Ebonhand Order as a result at a young age?"

I smirked proudly and answered with enthusiasm.

"Yup, the one and only. Oh, I'm so proud of her. And all because my pathetic family dearest came to detest her just because of the crime that I did, ahahahaha. Such simpletons they really were. The motivation of resentment and madness can truly push a person to their very limits, allowing them to reach a power far beyond than they can imagine."

"Yes, I can't very well deny that. And do you think that these Mages… children rather, are going to be an impediment with our plans?"

I rubbed my chin for a brief moment and responded-

"Hmm, while I have some concerns with the Mage Killer, I believe that the rest are of no concern… for now at least. Although there's one candidate that I fail to mention… someone who will be of great use to us if we manage to recruit him.

That instantly piqued his curiosity as he said-

"Really? Do tell."

My smirk turned wider as I told him of the boy who was chosen by the Magic God.

"Why it's none other than the Magus of Infinity himself."

Another round of silence fell upon us for a significant period, longer than the first one. Our leader must be surprised as a result of the unbelievable announcement that I just said.

"Hooohh… really now? I sincerely hope for your sake that this is not one of your silly attempts of a joke."

I instantly denied and said to him-

"No, it's true, Father. A young boy by the name of Ken Bruce was able to copy every spell that he took a look at. During his Magicka with Anastasia Dragonheart, he managed to even unlock his Dragon blood as part of his Infinity Magic when he copied one of her Bloodline spells that are only possible to cast for someone of her own race."

Our leader seemed to contemplate my statement and gave his viewpoint.

"The Magus of Infinity. While his unique magic constituted to spell mimicry, it's actually more than that. Records dictated that the previous holder of the title, Vivian Algrande, held the blood of many races and entities. Evidence suggested that when she copied a spell that's only exclusive to a Mage's race or genetic condition, or Bloodline Magic for short, then she would also assume the Mage's heritage, allowing access to their surplus of unique spells. In addition, the mixture of multiple races in her blood bared no consequences to her whatsoever, making her a very dangerous foe feared by both humans and demons alike during the Demon War."

Yes, what Father said was true without a doubt. The Magus of Infinity is an incredible irregularity even among the many mysteries of the magical world that we lived in.

If the boy would enlist in our side, then our plans would certainly be a success with no question.

I wonder what would tick him? His strength? His weaknesses? Anything that we could use to control him?

Hmm, perhaps such factors are not needed, after all, thanks to this amazing dark magic that I have, something that I've been cultivating for quite some time now.

And let's just say that during the course of my research of the dark arts, I've managed to unlock a spell that would ensure complete obedience without exception.

Our leader resumed his discussion as he gave me some additional instruction.

"This changes things then. With Grayford having the Magus of Infinity within the palm of his hands, it would spell some complication for us. We should strive to minimize the difficulty of our mission and enact some kind of countermeasure for this. While I have some proposals in mind, I still wanted to hear what you have to say, Erika."

That's our Father dearest alright. As the head of our mysterious organization, he nonetheless aspired to be a great ruler to us all. The man valued the principle of Democracy and sought to listen to our opinions first, before making his final judgment. Even if we feel unworthy before him, he regardless valued his members, treating us as if we're family to him, his dysfunctional set of children who simply needed some education to enlighten our feeble minds.

That's also why I followed him, even if it meant taking my last breath for him. He even went so far as to shed the light within my eyes and unearthed the truth, saving me from the chains that the Aventus family that has bounded me ever since I was a whimsical deluded child. I owed him that much and I'll gladly serve him with all my heart until the day of my demise.

I agreed with his statement and answered-

"I believe so as well. If you would allow me, Father, then I propose that we should attempt to recruit him to our cause. With the famed Magus of Infinity on our side, none can't absolutely deny our power."

"Hmm, I see. Having him join our cause would indeed serve our purpose well with his ability to copy any form of magic, even the Bloodline ones. The boy is still young and inexperienced. Molding him to be the enforcer of our will would be of no issue, for me at least."

My anticipation was inevitable at this point and I asked excitedly.

"Then…"

"Yes, Erika. We'll utilize your plan to attempt in convincing Ken Bruce to join our side."

"Whatever means necessary?"

This time, amusement was evident in his tone and our leader happily responded to my question without an ounce of nonsense.

"Of course, my dear Erika. Just like we usually do."
