"I did" He looks at me seriously and holds my hand. "I need to tell you something serious once we get back to the palace."
"Can you tell me now? Once we get back it'll be a bit too late for tea. Unless you want to talk in your office?"
"No. We'll talk in our room. It's not a matter of the state so formalities are unnecessary."
I look at him with growing confusion as he tells the coachman to take off. I rest my head on the window seal of the carriage, only for Leo to move me onto his shoulder. I swiftly fall asleep.
Regina's dream:
"Regina come downstairs for breakfast!"
"Coming momma!" Regina runs down the stairs to see her dog, snowball, whining at the door. She of course lets him in and gives him a few pats on the head. She then goes into the kitchen to see what her mom made for breakfast. On the table is a sliced orange, 2 eggs, and 2 pieces of toast.
"Thanks ma! I'm starved." The girl bites off a piece of the toast and continues. "What do we all have to do today?" She looks at her mother expectantly.
"Have you already forgotten girl? Today is your birthday!"
The little girl's initial look of shock turns into excitement. She quickly finishes off her food and gets dressed for the day.
In the village (of the dream) :
"I wonder where all the street vendors are? I wanted to buy some sweets with my birthday money!" Regina stomps her foot and walks toward the pond on the edge of the village. She sits down at the edge of the water and stares into it.
"Water pond, shallow but wise, open up my seeing eyes."
The girl's reflection in the water quickly turns into a moving image of a pregnant woman. The woman is preparing for bed while drinking what appears to be tea. After taking the first sip, the woman bends down in pain and falls down as blood leaks from her night dress.
Little Regina quickly backs away from the image as it turns back into her reflection. After being sure that all traces of magic are gone she stands up and quickly runs home to tell her family what she saw.
"Momma!!!!"
"Regina? What's wrong honey?! Did someone bully you??"
"No! I was a-at the p-pond and I saw this woman drink tea then fall down!!"
"Oh my goodness! Regina I've told you to NEVER use your powers in public! What if someone saw-"
"But Ma, that's the other thing! No one was in the village today! No lenders, no merchants, no one was around at all!"
The mother goes quiet as she tries to rationalize what Regina is saying.
"Describe to me in detail everything you saw. Don't leave anything out!"
After telling her mother everything that happened, the mother sends her daughter to her room. Regina sits and thinks for a while whilst a dark figure creeps up behind her.
"Death to the evil witch!!!"
The shadow stabs a dark sword through the girl as smoke takes hold of her body.
Back in the carriage:
I jolt awake and look around sharply only to find Leo staring at me worriedly.
"Are you alright?"
"Nevermind that. Are we near the palace yet?"
All of a sudden the carriage stops and it is announced that we have arrived. We both get out and give orders on wear to put their trades.
"Let's head to our room. We have many things that we need to discuss."
We both go into our shared bedroom and change into clothes for sleeping. Once settled in, Leo begins to talk.
"I have some things that I need to confess.... I know about your seeing powers."
I look at Leo sharply as I try to think of how this could be possible. Unless he knew in my last life as well, then this makes no sense. I didn't start using my powers until I was alone on the throne. Does that mean that he's been lying this entire time? Does he only want me for my powers? I feel Leo's hand grab my chin and sharply turn me to look at him.
"I never want to see that look come across your face again okay? Don't ever doubt the love I have for you. I would give my life for your happiness, don't dismiss my love with such a look."
I slowly nod at him. He lets go of my face and kisses my forehead.
"I....I also know.."
