Max was awake not long after Chleo fell asleep. Max woke up slowly so as not to wake Chleo, who was still fast asleep. He was sure Chleo's body would ache from sleeping in such an uncomfortable position. Max shouldn't have used the girl's feet as his pillow. Now he regretted it a bit.
At first, Max thought he wouldn't fall asleep because his mind would
focus on regenerating his energy. But who would have thought, as soon as he felt the soft 'pillow' on his head, his mind instantly went blank and fell asleep immediately.
Max slowly carried Chleo's much smaller body with one hand under Chleo's shoulder and the other under the girl's thigh.
As per her sleeping habits, Chleo fidgeted and tucked her head
into the crook of Max's neck to find a comfortable position. She seemed to have taken Max's cold neck as her favorite pillow.
