Chapter 21 - Ch. 21 The Death-Poison Pill

Chleo glanced at the side where Diego was sitting casually next to her while looking up at the dark sky as if the young man enjoyed the night. Chleo decided to try to tell her brother what was struggling in her heart right now. After all, she and Diego had a very close bond even from their childhood. People around them could see how much closer they are than she was to her parents.

"Diego, can I say something?"

Diego turned to his sister with a gentle smile. "Sure. What's up?"

"Promise me you won't tell anyone."

"I promise," replied Diego sincerely.

Chleo told the reason why she married Axel. She told him about the man's threat and the fact that Axel was deliberately cruel to her in order to protect her from Alexis's plans until she realized that Alexis was the son of the person who had kidnapped her in the past.

But she did not disclose her husband's identity as the blue king not because she had hidden this matter with her brother on purpose. But because she had forgotten entirely about the fact that her husband was one of the rulers of nature.

Chleo witnessed her husband use his power only once to threaten her. She had never forgotten Axelard's threat and how much great turning of her upside-down feeling she had toward the man.

However, she didn't remember how Axelard had threatened her with his ice-maker power. Moreover, Axelard never again used his strength in front of her as if the man was a mere human.

The truth is, Axelard did not want Chleo to recall what happened in his house that day. He knew Chleo hated him because he used his power to force her and threaten her. Thus, he decided to never use his ice power ever again in front of her.

Chleo had forgotten the fact that Axel was a blue king and only remembered that the man had threatened her and gave her no other option but to marry him.

After finishing telling the whole story, Chleo continued to reveal her plans and her current feelings. Surprisingly, after explaining the entire thing, Diego didn't look surprised as if this young man already knew what had happened.

"You don't look surprised." accused Chleo, feeling suspicious that her brother already knew everything.

"Because I already know." was his straightforward answer, and he shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

"!?? WHAT? Since when? How did you...?"

"I only found out recently. Dad told me."

Hearing this made Chleo even more shocked. So all this time, her father knew about it?

"He also knows? But how?" Chleo still couldn't believe what she had just heard.

"Sister, have you forgotten who our dad is? Not to mention dad cooperated with uncle Darrel to protect you secretly. I know that you are reckless and naive, but I never thought you would forget our family's capabilities."

"I... I..."

Diego sighed in resignation to see his elder sister still couldn't believe it. He figured out that it's Diego's turn to tell her what happened while Chleo lived in England.

Ever since Axel and Chleo came to the house as husband and wife, Vincent had suspected this marriage. Vincent knew his daughter exceptionally well. How could a girl who loved Alexis so much suddenly be willing to marry someone else?

Vincent confronted Axel himself and demanded an explanation. Who has ever thought that the guy admitted his sin and confessed what he had done to make Chleo marry him?

Hearing the shocking reality from her brother's mouth made Chleo stuck to her place.

Diego also shared that Axel also explained his plan to ensure Alexis would not reach Chleo. That's why Vincent was willing to let his only daughter go. Even though they were in another corner of the world, Chleo was much safer with Axel than here.

Diego also said that Alexis was more aggressively attacking the family company subsidiaries. Even Diego himself had to help Vincent to maintain the value of shares in the branch in New Jersey. Once a week, when his class schedule is not too busy, Diego would go to New Jersey to monitor the company's state under the auspices of the Flex group.

Only recently have they been able to calm down because there is assistance from the cooperation of the Davenport family in England.

"Davenport? Why does it ring a bell in my mind?" Chleo tried to dig into her memory. She was sure she had heard this name before.

"You should have heard of it. It is an ancient aristocratic family that was quite powerful in England. They were fortunate that the actual castle owners had no children. So that the Davenport family replaced the position of nobility and occupied the castle."

"What does it mean?" somehow, Chleo felt interested to hear this story. Maybe because she was sure she had heard the name, but she couldn't remember it.

Diego was more than happy to enlighten her curiosity, and they were still talking to each other until the sun was about to rise, showing a reddish hue mixed with a golden orange color. The two siblings decided to go back to their room. Because their rooms are next to each other, they walk together while talking.

"Sister Chleo. I just remembered something. Wait here."

Chleo waited in front of her room while leaning against the door. Chleo gave a wide yawn, unable to hold back her drowsiness. When she almost fall asleep while standing while leaning her back against her room's door, Diego's voice brought her wide awake.

"Here."

At first, Chleo accepted it indifferently. But when she realized what she had in his hand, her eyes widened in horror, making her sleepiness drift somewhere.

How did Diego get this? Moreover, why did Diego give her 'this?'

This... Isn't this... the death-poison pill made by Kirena!?
