("I'm honestly not sure which version of you looks better, ones a skeleton and one look like a man one step away from his end") Silva floated over after having a talk with Azula and gave Seth's new disguise a good look over, Azula followed soon after and remarked ("Beggars can't be choosers you know")
'Can't you at least say one positive thing, I was happy about having a humanish appearance and now I'm doubting myself' Seth cried out in his head before letting out a loud sigh, as he did he realised he had a degree of subconscious control over the fake flesh, meaning he could finally make facial expressions again although they were simple at best, at least the eye covering hid away the most important parts of making an expression, so it took away a lot of the unnaturalness of them.
"Well, that should do at least, much better than walking around as an undead, at least you'll be able to interact with people without having them either run away in terror or hunt you on sight" Lloyd said nodding to himself in satisfaction.
"Yeah, sure, whatever" Seth couldn't be bothered to speak about it anymore and decided to just be satisfied with what he had.
Lloyd walked over towards the centre of the room and a few structures rose out of the floor, one they took full shape Seth found out they were a square table and chairs like one you'd see in a work interview meeting or such.
"Come, sit; We still have a lot to talk about" Lloyd gestured him to the other chair as he took one himself, Azula laid on the back of the chair stretched out along the length, seeing no reason to refuse Seth did so as well and Silva plopped himself down on the corner of the table staring at Lloyd, Seth suddenly felt a sense of DeJa'Vu and realised he felt like he was facing an interview for a job once more which he didn't like at all.
Lloyd lent forward and cupped his hands in the 'Gendo' pose with his chin almost resting on them before speaking "First of all let's go over what I want you to do in the first place" he said as he retrieved the [Bloodline Rose] he showed to Seth before and placing it on the table between them.
"I want, no, I need you to find one or more of my descendants somewhere in this world and give this to them after deciding they were worthy, I said before I could trust you to work that out yourself, but it isn't that simple" He pointed towards a smaller gem on the top of the amulet.
"This stone here is a [Transmission Stone], I assume you know what these are for correct?"
"Yeah" Seth said whilst nodding, these stones were unique and as the name stated they are used to speak to others over long distances, unlike transmission style magic there's basically no range limit and it's hard to interfere with, the catch is that they are only naturally formed, and to contact another person you both need a piece of the same stone, once you channel mana in to it and speak the other pieces of the same stone will echo with your voice, it's both limited in usage and yet incredibly useful.
"The other half of this stone is with me, obviously I want you to at least give me an update every now and then on your progress, of course the moment you find someone with my bloodline I want you to contact me immediately so we can decide on a course of action, this is how we'll judge whether they're worth of inheriting my lineage properly"
'So much for his ability to tell someone is worthy at a glance' Seth retorted in his head.
"This [Bloodline Rose] is currently showing a few glimmers in the main gem, this shows that at the very least there are some people that have my bloodline currently in this world, as for how you'll find them, the closer you get to someone with my bloodline the brighter it will glow, as for the range it's fairly large being about 20 kilometres but if you move around you should be able to round down the list of suspects, the final check is letting them touch the amulet; in this case it will shine a silver light so you'll know immediately"
"And what if it stops glimmering altogether" Seth said on impulse, hearing this Lloyd couldn't help twitching his face in annoyance as he was clearly trying to ignore such a situation, yet Seth brought it up with no remorse.
"That… In that situation… I want you to return here, though I hope to god that doesn't happen…" He said quietly trailing off at the end.
Seeing that Lloyd had gone silent Seth decided to carry on the conversation himself.
"So, what kind of qualities do we need to look for in them" hearing this Lloyd's eyes brightened up once more.
"I wouldn't say there's anything specific, the most important thing is that they're a decent person"
"That's it?" Seth was a bit taken aback, he though a 'king' would have a rather specific list of qualities.
"What, do you think kings are naturally born and grow on trees? If you saw me as a child, you wouldn't even think for a second that I'd one day take the throne but here I am, all my successor needs is a good foundation, I can teach them and train them myself!"
'So, the requirements aren't that strict huh… thinking about it who knows what his descendants are like, what if- 'Seth thought before popping another question "-What if they aren't human?"
Lloyd's eyes slightly widened at that question, yet there wasn't a look of loss or confusion on his face just slight surprise. "I wasn't expecting you to ask that, at least this shows you're giving it proper consideration" he smiled slightly "In that situation we'll play by ear"
Seth wasn't expecting him to be so easy-going about such a situation, from what he knew most royal families wanted to keep their bloodlines pure and refused any other races blood to be mixed in, this showed on his face which Lloyd easily picked up on.
"Ha-ha, I must admit it's nice being able to read your facial expressions now even if they're a bit bland" after chuckling his expression shifted to serious look "In this situation I can't be picky, let alone keeping our bloodline pure we can't even be sure if we can keep it in existence; Not just that it's been a long time since I last knew the situation up there, who knows humans might be the minority now."
That thought never struck Seth, he had met a few of the minor races or demi-humans before yet pure humans were the vast majority, thinking it may be different was weird to him.
"Anyway, once you find a successor for me, I want you to return with them to here, I wouldn't be surprised if they were a normal person doing farm work after all these years so they may need protection."
"What if there's more than one?"
"The more the better, I can handle nurturing a good handful of them with all I have here" Lloyd said with a hint of pride"
"Any time limits?" Seth asked by habit.
"None really, I've been here for more than a thousand years already I doubt another thousand would hurt"
"I really don't want to take that long…" he said with a pained face.
"Then you better hope you're lucky" Lloyd replied with a smirk "Anything else?" he asked afterwards waiting for Seth to speak.
'I don't think so…' Seth though before deciding to push his greed forward a little bit. "About the rewards, you mentioned a couple of things from the treasury before but thinking again I don't feel that much compared to what I'm doing for you"
Lloyd let out a wry smile "Of course, if I'm to be honest what I said before was just bait, I wasn't expecting a skeleton that showed up on my doorstep to be this competent in solving the corruption that caused that problem, even if you were contracted to a spirit that Azula is familiar with"
Seth imitated rolling his eyes 'At least he's honest' he felt he had finally taken an inch from the king before him.
"I'll be straightforward, for what you're doing I can't possibly give you a reward that has equal worth, so I pledge that no matter what my family will be behind you in the future! I also have a few things to hand to you before you leave as well, that storage item was just an incentive, I have many more like it, so it didn't matter if I lost it."
"I feel my sense of value is slipping…" Seth felt a headache coming on as he tried to calculate the treasuries value if the spatial ring is basically 'nothing'
"You say 'no matter what' but how do I know once I'm done you'll still hold your word" Seth remembered the words Silva said to him before, he normally would go ahead without it but he decided to try get assurance.
In reply, Lloyd, no, the current king of the Reverie kingdom stared him dead in his empty eye sockets and stated with absolute conviction:
"Because I am entrusting you with my everything!"
As he received that fire-filled stare, the words echoed in Seth's mind as the hard conviction behind them resonated with something inside him, he felt no matter what he could trust that line at the very least, he felt his mind click as if the last puzzle piece was slotted in to place.
