Chapter 10 - A Display of Power.

("So, where are we?")

The little spirit spins in place taking a good look at its surroundings.

"A place called 'Ravine Abyss' honestly I've barely just woken up nearly a week ago by now and I still don't have much information"

("A week? You don't sleep?")

Seth had to pause for a moment at that question as he never actually realised it.

"Now that you mention it, I guess I don't, by the way when I say 'wake' I mean when I first became a skeleton, before that I died if it wasn't obvious but I'm still not clear on how long it's been since I dropped dead."

("So, you have memories of your life from before huh… a skeleton that has a clear and full conscious is already a miracle, but you still remember everything from before clearly, I've never seen anything like this before")

Thinking for a moment, Seth also decided there was no reason to keep secrets.

"I don't see any reason to not say it so I guess I will, before my 'life' here I was also reincarnated and retained my memories from my first life as well"

At this point the spirit couldn't help leaving its jaw open in surprise like a broken hinge for a second.

("You really are a bundle of surprises, any idea why that happened? I understand the concept of reincarnation but from what I know when it occurs the souls are turned in to a clean slate.")

"Well, I have I good guess, I was granted a blessing my system calls [Stubborn Will]-"

("Pfft what I stupid name")

"Shut it, anyway it apparently prevents any kind of mental interference, I remember it saying it caused an error with the memory wipe"

The spirit almost grimaced as it suddenly thought of something.

("Of course… those idiots up there would do something stupid like that")

"Idiots? You mean…?"

("Yes, those buffoons you people call the 'Divine' let me give you a fair waning about them, you see when you are born with power that surpasses what we know as 'common sense' you also end up lacking said 'common sense' leading to stupid mistakes happening")

"And that's what happened?"

("Sounds like it honestly, you should be careful around them if they find out that a mistake like a failed cleansing happened who knows what they'll do to you")

Seth could almost feel his bones dissolving in an attempt to sweat at that thought, thank god that divine didn't seem to realise anything when he communed with the statue.

("These 'mistakes' are one of the reasons the Divine give out missions, to correct them")

"So, the one I've been given is to correct something as well?"

Silva stared thoughtfully for a second.

("Maybe, maybe not, this one is already weird from the wording who knows what these 'mistakes' have done to the world")

"How do you know all this anyway? I thought you couldn't learn anything from the spirit world"

("Well, us spirits do communicate you know, plus this isn't my first rodeo boy I've been around here and there a long time in the past, so I picked up a lot of knowledge")

"How long?"

("Oh god knows I don't keep track of the time like you humans we have no life span!")

'I wonder if I have a life span?'

The sudden thought struck Seth, every time he is called human, he feels he realises how much he isn't one anymore.

("Anyway, just keep in mind to hold your tongue in front of those bastards or you'll regret it")

'He really hates them doesn't he."

("Enough about that, where are we going?")

"Huh? Oh, right yeah, I was heading this way, I thought it may be a way out of this damned place and when I performed the merge earlier, I'm pretty sure I caught a glimpse of a castle" Seth said, pointing far in the distance."

("I'm amazed you maintained your conscious enough to see that")

"Me too" He shuddered from the memory of almost fading completely.

("And you think there may be something in this castle?")

"Well, there's no harm in checking it's not like I have any other lead, maybe some of the warp arrays are in at least half-decent shape if not maybe some treasures have survived the test of time"

("I suppose that's for the best then, lets go I'm already getting bored of this place even the spirit world has more taste")

They decided to start moving further into the ravine, on the way they made small conversation about Seth's short time as a skeleton and his experience so far from the shoddy equipment he has to the unique use of mana sense he's managed to create.

It wasn't too long before they came across their first enemy.

[Undead Skeleton (Human)]

("A relative of yours?")

"I already made that joke"

("Pity, well show me what you can do then")

Seth pulled out the gladius he had tucked in his bones somehow and took a lower stance than before, similar to that of the old soldier skeleton he fought before.

The enemy skeleton took off from where it was standing and unsteadily charged towards Seth, it had no weapon and was going for a swipe with its bony fingers, so Seth didn't feel pressured at all.

As it swung its bones, he took a small step to the side easily avoiding it before sticking his foot out tripping it up causing it to spectacularly fall to the ground.

He quickly dashed over to the fallen enemy and stabbed his sword between the bones on its back piercing straight through its core.

'It's low level so the core will do nothing for me anyway'

He pulled the weapon out and watched it almost splatter into red liquid before fading and the bones dropped and fell apart like the glue that had been holding them dissolved.

He stood up and glanced at Silva who was observing the short fight.

"So?"

("Well, not bad I guess not that it was much of a measure")

Seth shrugged at that response, he had gotten used to his body more now after fighting for a few days so he wouldn't struggle with these simple enemies, but he wouldn't carelessly charge against anything he would see as a threat anymore just for a test.

("Guess I'll give you a show then when we come across the next one")

"You'll be fine doing that? I thought you said you couldn't hold your physical form for long?"

("I have a feel of my limit now, I should be fine for one shot it'll be enough")

'One shot?' Seth thought, what would a Capybara fire? Still, he was slightly excited to see what Silva could do.

They started their journey again, from Seth's memory it should take about half a day to get to the castle he saw before so he wanted to hurry if he was honest, that memory he got from eating the core back then had given him a bad feeling and he wanted to see the result with his own eyes.

Once more after about an hour of travel they came across another enemy, however this time it wasn't a skeleton, but a figure Seth hadn't seen since he first revived, a lean looking pig with a bone helmet, but this one was at least two sizes bigger than the last, so it was definitely stronger.

[Bone Swine]

"So that's what it's called, sounds about right."

("What on earth is that thing?")

"You've never seen one? It's called a 'Bone Swine'"

("Not in my time no, must be a new species; You've seen one before?")

"It was my first enemy as a skeleton, was pretty dumb honestly though this one looks a bit tougher"

("Well either way, it works well for target practice")

Silva floated out in front of Seth before popping in a cloud of smoke and revealing his large statured form.

The pig saw this and the creature that appeared from the smoke and threw a glare before turning and rearing its hooves, it definitely wasn't smart and assumed another swine had crossed its territory coming to steal its bone collection despite the fact that Silva looked entirely different.

'Let's see how a spirit fight looks then'

Without anymore notice the swine charged straight at Silva with a speed far surpassing the one Seth fought before, however there was zero panic in Silva's golden eyes as the air surrounding him stirred, his silver hair started to stand on end and the patterns of black lightning seemed to come to life emitting crackles of black electricity that cascaded through the individual strands of stood up fur.

Silva let out a loud breath from his nostrils that also emitted some kind of mist that quickly spread to the surrounding area engulfing all three of them with a thin white cover and dropping the temperature slightly.

The swine took no notice and believed its victory was at hand when it was only a few meters away from crushing its enemy.

All of a sudden, the electricity darting around Silva's fur seemed to come alive as it flew through the ground and air at a speed no eye could see, almost looking like a colony of insects that suddenly decided to rage war.

The bolts quickly reached the swine and-

*BANG*

As if they were merely scouting before, a large wave of lightning followed the path towards the swine crossing it in an instant and letting out an almighty bang followed with an exceedingly bright light that was shadowed by a pitch black.

Seth would have jumped out his skin if he had any with how loud it was.

'Fucking hell I now understand why he'd have the title [Storm Emperor] it wasn't an exaggeration'

He would be incredibly surprised if that pig remained in one piece after that, and he was right.

The mist dispersed and Silva's large form popped away bringing him back to his little state, on the other side all that was left was a charred carcass almost entirely black with lines resembling lightning scarred into the almost charcoal like remains.
