A week had passed by and all the younglings of the Raizen family, alongside other families, were sent away to the Fotia academy where they will be awakened and cultivation will be made possible for them. While almost everyone hated this law and would prefer to personally teach their younglings the path of cultivation, no one could stand against the Phoenix emperor so they had no choice to go along. By the way, personally awakening someone in secret without letting the person pass through the Fotia academy is a crime no different from treason.
The Fotia academy was no different from an entire kingdom, located at the center of the empire. Stories of people getting lost while coming here was something Lucien always pondered on and found ridiculous but after seeing this, he found it reasonable.
Arriving at the gates of the mighty academy, Lucien and the other members of the various families, clans, and groups in the empire. Since they are all freshers and lacked any form of identification, they all had to wait for a while for their instructor to appear.
During the wait, Lucien decided to leave the Raizen family members and look around a bit. He used this time to gaze at the faces of all those he considered competitors. While others may have minor goals like graduating with good grades and getting good jobs, Lucien was different. He aimed at becoming the strongest just like the Beast Emperor Fei. He wished to be able to command such respect and power. He simply didn't wish to serve the beast emperor because it's fun. He decided to serve the beast emperor because he admires him and intends to replace him.
Wam!
The space above them twisted and turned violently creating loud sounds like a creaking sound. Slowly the space tore open and a young man stepped out of it. He had long silver hair that was neatly combed back and tied into a ponytail that was long enough to reach his waist. His eyes were like two balls of silver light shining brightly even during the daytime. Instructor Han wore a traditional Japanese silver kimono crashing blue waves design littered all over it. Han has always been an important figure in the Academy and the empire since he's the most powerful spatial mage in the empire.
In normal circumstances, people are born with an affinity for two elements while the strength of the affinity of one's primary element is usually greater than the affinity for the secondary element, there are situations when a person is born with a single affinity to an element. While they may lack a second element, their affinity to their only element is so strong that these people are considered monsters. These mages are called exclusive mages!
Separating the beast-men from the human students wasn't hard since both sides refused to mingle with each other in the first place. With that taken care of, Han whispered some words as he clasped his hands together and two floating transparent crystal orbs appeared by his sides. Everyone watched Han as he slowly descended to the ground harmoniously. His silver eyes glanced through the thousands of students and with a light sigh, Han prepared for the strenuous duty he was about to partake in.
"I am instructor Han, a spatial mage, and yes, just like you heard, I am an exclusive mage with the space element as my sole element… There are no failures and victors… even if you possess no affinity to any element, there are still powerful fighters out there…" Instructor Han avoided using the word 'abnormally'. That was the term normally used for those who were not fortunate enough to receive nature's blessing.
"These crystal balls showcase your magic affinity by changing color in accordance to your elemental affinities… if you lack an element, there will be no reaction from this… this test allows us to know what class to assign you to… it also gives us a clue of the path more suitable for your cultivation… Please step forward" Instructor Han said with a charming smile.
......................................................…..
And so the test began. Amongst the humans, we're many with average affinity to elements, while some had a weak affinity to both elements, all determined by the glow the crystal orb reveals. The brighter the glow, the stronger the affinity. Lucien remained standing since he was not in a hurry to know his fate. His confidence in his abilities didn't let him feel intimidated by those with high affinity to their elements, no matter how bright their glow is.
While he wore an indifferent look on his face, he was greatly excited by the way up to the thought of how strong his affinity would be if he decided to take the test. Amongst the humans and magic beasts, there were a few abnormal who had no affinity to any element at all and there were a few exclusive mages as well who possess a strong affinity to one element.
Lucien waited until all the members of the Raizen clan had taken the test, judging their strength through the test. As expected Raziel and Layla were the two most superior members of their clan since their glow was so bright, their figure was hidden by it. While Raizen had a strong affinity for lightening, Layla was stronger with the wind element.
Lucien also watched a few members of the Phoenix family take the test and as expected all of them had strong affinities to the fire element. In fact, their talent was no less than that of Raziel and Layla.
Time passed and the exam continued, yet Lucien had not moved a foot. Even his human friend from the Lucardo family, Brian had no affinity to any element, just like he expected. Their family has always been a family of abnormals so it wasn't shocking for anyone.
"You guys have been observing don't you think it's time for you to take the test? I don't have all day" Instructor Han's voice caught Lucien's attention and only then did he realize there were only ten of them left.
Just like him, the other nine have been observing other participants and surprisingly, all of them are the heirs of the various noble families in the empire!
