"You are awake."
Aiden comes to his senses and turns his head to look at me.
A sheen of sweat covers his pale face, and his recently changed bandages have red blood staining them underneath the thick vol-hide cover.
When he lost consciousness he was surrounded by a lush green forest, now he is next to a roaring fire, and the smell of meat cooking wafts inside the house.
Sounds of the fat popping over the fire illicit a deep grumbling sound from my stomach.
Lean is over the fire, making sure to cook enough for all of us.
"L... Lord En."
He tries to rise from the bed but I place my hand on his shoulder.
"When did you start calling me 'Lord En'? I thought I was the mage from the mainland."
He struggles to smile and looks into my brown eyes with his dark ones.
"The day you freed us is the day you became Lord En."
I 'tsk' bringing out my pipe once more and stuffing it but not lighting it.
