Blessed silence rings and many scuttle back, the silence filled with feet dragging on dirt and a gust of wind that whistles through the grasslands behind me.
Daveen closed her eyes the moment the sound of the explosion rang, so she missed the shock on the faces of the towns folk as they gaze at the three people who have half their faces missing.
'Tell them to stand down once more.'
The thought is sent to Daveen who takes a deep breath and opens her mouth.
"You must stand down! If we are to survive, if we are to see tomorrow you must stand down!"
Someone breaks ranks and runs away, and like water in a leaking boat, they all start to run.
I don't move to stop them, those that don't bend the knee to me here will just become a casualty of war for the druids.
Daveen sighs in relief when she doesn't feel me go after the runners, but the dozen leftover still gives her cause to worry.
