"How is this a small town?"
A resounding astonishment washes over all nine of us as we gaze at Drummand from atop a hill east of the huge water-backed town, sentry towers built of torn down forest leads up to the wooden log structures that look like large three-story houses with slanted roofs.
"It was described to me... I have never been this far west before."
I nod at Carina's words, it makes sense.
The young woman was taking her first trip to the capital and was going to be educated in many different fields of study.
Small tidbits of her life come out unconsciously while we travel, it looks to me like she is reminding herself of the things that made her human before the attack.
When we hunted pheasants the first night she commented on how much she disliked red meat and much-preferred poultry.
I caught her smiling at the sky once and I felt for the kid.
"She looks better."
