I follow the boy from a good distance, using void walking at times, to move faster.
When void walking is used while running, I have a burst of speed that makes my thin cheeks jiggle a little, I avoid using it as much as possible, while maintaining a trudge.
The boy isn't fast, more so knowledgeable of the terrain.
He cuts in between alleys and merchant stalls, throwing things in the way of his pursuers to slow them down, and then doubling back to the slums.
He has gained some distance from them but they will catch him soon.
The boy is tired, he doesn't have the fuel for this kind of work.
The lead chaser catches up to him and trips him, pushing the little boy into an alley, before he can reach an incoming carriage in the distance.
"Where is it"?
"Where is the silver"?
The questions comes in between swings of the leather belt.
The round buckle latches hit the boy, drawing blood.
