Chapter 20 - The Unwavering Screams

At the end of the day, Imogen felt like beating her head against the wall until her skull shattered.

 "I can't believe that Egor made me play three hundred games of Baseling, the worst part was that I only won once; ONCE!" Cried Imogen.

"Thankfully Egor said that tomorrow he would add in weapon training to the mix." Thought Imogen, relieved.

 "But that's tomorrow, today I have to find something else to do; like fight creatures." Suggested Imogen.

 "I think that I'll do that actually, I'd just have to make sure that the corpses stay intact." Decided Imogen

"I'm curious if insect corpses sell for more than animal corpses do." Wondered Imogen.

 "I guess I could ask Egor, I'm sure that he would know." Realized Imogen as she turned around and headed back inside the guild.

"Here for another early visit? Or, are you here because you forgot something?" Asked the receptionist sarcastically.

"I would like to know if insect corpses sell for more than the animal ones do, or vice versa." Inquired Imogen.

"Insects are animals, no wonder Egor had to spend so long on the first part of your training." Mocked the receptionist.

"That's uncal-."

"Animals, or Higher Creatures are worth more than insects; which are called Lesser Creatures." Interrupted the receptionist as Imogen's veins bulged.

"Why did you call insects "Lesser Creatures" and ANIMALS "Higher Creatures!?" Thundered Imogen.

"Lesser Creatures have a smaller amount of mana infused into their bodies compared to Higher Creatures who have almost double the mana of a Lesser Creature." Replied the receptionist like it was oblivious.

 "The body of a Lesser Creature will always make worse gear than what a Higher Creature of the same quality could make." Responded the receptionist halfheartedly.

"And that answers your question, now could you get out of my face; demi human filth." Snarled the receptionist.

 "That's right, I see your scales; so you better fuck off before I tell the baron." Smirked the receptionist as she pushed Imogen out of her face.

~~~
"So your new student is a demi human again, what a waste; I'd think that you'd be able to tell the difference by now." Admitted a man as he handed another man a drink.
"Yeah, I should have known, humans aren't as strong as demi humans are when they're that age anymore; our caste is getting too reliant on demi humans." Said a man with distaste.
"Did you hear that the queen gave a demi human the title of a noble recently? The first demi human to ever become a noble that one was!" Yelled one of the men in disgust.
 "Pyen Tyra is the only kingdom out of the five that's actually reasonable, don't you agree Egor?"
"Of course I do, it's the only place that still has cheap labor." Agreed Egor.
"You mean slaves, right Egor; demi human slaves." Corrected the man.
~~~

"No, you can go screw yourself!" Growled Imogen valiantly.

 After that last comment, the receptionist's face turned all wrinkly and red, like a rotten tomato as she punched Imogen in the face.

"What's wrong with you, ahhahaha; you asked for death and now you get it!" Shrieked Imogen as she punched the receptionist in the face.

 Imogen punched the receptionist so hard that she was flung into a wall, her neck snapped as she hit it.

"What's going on down there, Jackson; you better not have broken another one of my tables!" Yelled Egor.

 "I'm having a very important conversation right now, so if there isn't a valid reason for this I'm kicking whoever did this out." Threatened Egor as he came running down the stairs.

The other receptionists took a while to comprehend what had just happened, but when they realized what had just happened; they took off screaming.

As Egor reached the bottom of the stairs all he could see was fire and Imogen biting into a corpse's neck.

 "It's a vampire! Get down here Able and alert the baron!" Bellowed Egor.

 "Oh! So you're a vampire, I never thought I'd be able to get such high level materials before." Said Egor greedily as Imogen looked into his eyes.

 "I'm not even going to bother killing you with my aura, that would be too boring for me." Laughed Egor as he slammed Imogen into the wall.

He kept on pounding Imogen's chest through the sounds of bones breaking and the blood that Imogen coughed up.

*Critical Damage Taken: Automatically reverting you back into your old form.

"As that message popped up, Imogen morphed into something greater, the true predator of all humanity. Egor realized this too late and punched his fist straight through the wall. He was just so angry and he couldn't see straight, Egor's fingers will never be straight again.

"What are you!? Insects can't get this strong!" Babbled Egor.

"Your eventual demise! the heartless dog; Imogen… oh… that sounded really stupid."

"Dog?" Questioned Egor.

"Yes." Assured Imogen.

After Imogen had spoken, she ran at Egor hoping to catch him off guard; but he slammed her into the ground before she got to him. That attack was followed by several other strikes, but Imogen was faster and she dodged out of the way.

 Egor tried to kick Imogen, but she bit into his leg and wouldn't let go.

"Get off of me you dumb bitch!" Shouted Egor.

Egors words were followed by no response from Imogen as she bit in deeper. Egor raised his leg up and tried to punch Imogen, but she merely jumped up and bit into his crotch.

"Fuck you! You Dumb BITCH!" Screamed Egor.

He tried to slam his fist into Imogen, but she jumped down at the perfect time and Egor punched his hand right through his nuts.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!" Screeched Egor.

Egor jumped up and slammed down on Imogen so fast, that she didn't even have time to think. Imogen's defense couldn't hold against this strike and Egor's fist went half way through her.

 Egor picked Imogen up and hurled her straight through the wall and somehow she managed to smash right through the head of a passerby. And in that split second, Imogen activated Life Steal.

She bit into the woman's headless corpse, thus halting her flight and she clawed the corpse as much as she could before it fell to the ground. The next minute Egor came running out, only to see a mostly healed Imogen feasting on the corpse of a woman.

 He ran up to Imogen as fast as he could and struck down, but athletics wasn't his strong suit and Imogen dodged him easily.

Imogen quickly used this chance and jumped onto Egor, he punched again and again, but it made no difference as Imogen bit into his neck. Normally this would be the end of a normal human, but Egor was no normal human.

 He punched Imogen on her left side, Imogen couldn't withstand it and was flung off Egor; but she had a piece of his neck flesh in her beak.

Egor tried to stop the blood from flowing out, but it was just too big. He decided that if he was going to die, Imogen was coming with him.

 He recklessly charged at Imogen and tackled her. He left himself open and only focused on punching Imogen on her left side, this was a bad idea though.

 Even with most of Imogen's mana being gone, she still had enough to activate Life Steal again as she bit into him.

After a long stalemate Egor died because of his wounds, leaving only a very injured and tired Imogen. By this time the fire from the guild had spread to most of the buildings next to the guild.

*System Message: You've slain, Egor, a named second cycle human - you've leveled up

Imogen was curious about what "second cycle" meant, but she had no time for such trivial things.

 "I need to get out of here fast, I'm in no condition to fight any more people." Realized Imogen.

 "But how will I get over... there!" Shouted Imogen as she looked at a tall building next to the wall.

"I need to hurry, the guards could be here at any moment." Thought Imogen Impatiently.

 But before she could think any longer, the tall building started to tip over. Imogen ran as fast as her legs could carry her, she climbed through the fire and smoke only to have the building tip away from the wall.

 She picked up her pace and made it to the top, but she didn't stop there and ran down the other side.

 As the building neared the ground, Imogen jumped up and switched to her human form just in time to grab onto the ledge of the wall as the building hit the pavement.

 She pulled herself up and onto the wall, thankfully there weren't any guards around and she jumped off the other side into a murky swamp.

~~~
"My lord, there has been several different reports on what happened a-"
"SILENCE!" "Tell me what happened in your own words within the next ten seconds or I'll have your head!" Demanded the baron.
 "Uhh... a vampire tick called Imogen invaded the town, burned the guild to the ground and killed the guild master; who was just trying to help the civilians."
 "FUCK! Call Elora, she stills owes me a favor; tell her to hunt that bitch down!"
