Chapter 1 - Prologue

Merell Love Dinkleman is walking through the hallway as a junior is rushing to classs. She losses her footing and stumbles into a wall- or so she thinks. Her books sprawl on the floor. She looks up to see 'the wall' she stumbles into and turns beetroot red on realisation.

John Wick,is who she stumbles into. People describe him as one of the greek gods due to his chisel shaped and his good like features and beauty. To Merell, he is none other than her bully. The one who makes her life a living nightmare in Booker Academy.

It all begun when she stumbled into him in the cafeteria a month ago on her first day in high school as junior and poured her spaghetti bolognaise all over since then he has made it his life long mission to make her suffer in humiliation and die of embarrassment .

" Isn't this a nice way, for us to keep meeting?"

" Sorry. It... It is an accident. I am sorry."

Merell wants the floor to open and swallow her. She starts picking her books up one by one then stands up. She starts walking class but Wick grasps her by the elbow and brings her back to him.

"Where do you think you are going?"

"I... I have class. I'm already late."

"You can't bump into me and expect to leave just like that."

" I said am sorry."

" Sorry isn't going to return the time you've wasted when you bumped into me."

"I am sorry..."

At this point, she had tears welling in her eyes. Before she notices, she felt a cold liquid being poured on her head. She just stood there as Wick has his way and passes her dropping her books. She can feel her skin burn with the effect of the liquid making contact.

One week into high school, Merell was diagnosed with Aquagenic urticaria, water allergy. She can't hold the tears any longer. What she doesn't know is that someone is watching. Of course, someone is always watching. He approaches her and asked if she is ok but she is too scared to talk. Her skin is hot and boils are starting to appear on her face. She also reeks cold coffee. He collects her books from the ground and leads her to her locker. Merell gives him her combination and he takes her bag and whatever else he sees is necessary and they head to the nurses office.

The nurse is not in and he has no time to look for her. The girl is getting worse by the second. He find dry wipes and starts wiping the traces of coffee off her skin while applying the anti-histamine ointment he finds in her bag. Merell sits still as he takes care of her. Occasionally, their eyes meet and she can see some thing in them. Something different, she sees kindness and tenderness unlike the ruthlessness, disgust and pity she is used to seeing. She is comfortable around him. Normally, she doesn't let anyone take care of her and show her sympathy but she dies not sense that in the guy so she lets him continue.

She does not notice he is done neither does she feel a tears slipping until he reaches out and wipes it. They stay there staring at each other as if communicating in some sought of way. They are brought out of their trance when she feels the dryness in her throat.

" Pills." She says in a shaky voice.

" Which ones exactly?"

" Bag..."

He passes her her bag and she rummages until she finds the anti-histamine and water tablets prescribed by her doctor. She takes them and lies on the bed. She closes her eyes not to sleep but to feel the cooling effect in her throat that follows. The nurse arrives and finds them there, the boy explains everything in a harsh voice.

The nurse thanks him and he soon leaves. She heard their talk and was satisfied with she heard. No she was not eavesdropping, they were just talking loud enough for her ears to hear bits and pieces of their conversation. His name was Cole Dunk-Cheng. Eventually she sleeps, on waking up her hair is no longer sticky and she doesn't reek coffee and is in clean coffee free clothes.
