Gyles Elsan was a noble, about the same age as Tray, they got to know each other through Tray's mother, Melissa. She was a merchant who worked for Gyles's father.
Melissa had brought her son to work with her on a certain day, and once in a while Sir Bertram Elsan liked to bring his own son, and well the two boys hit it off and had become friends really fast.
Today Lady Bridget Elsan had paid for the opportunity to tour one of the houses of the ancient heroes, the sorcerer Howis Maford, and she was bringing along with her both boys.
Recently she had been interested in the ancient heroes, she wanted to learn everything about them. She had gotten the opportunity to learn more about this hero and decided to pay for and bring her son along with her.
As for why she paid for and brought along Tray, well he was apparently a good influence on her son, she in no way wanted her son to end up as a greedy, self-entitled noble, or the younger generation noble who give terrible impressions of what it means to be a young master and a lady.
As Tray got to the house of the nobles he was greeted by the savants and shown to the back fields where Gyles seemed to be moving about with his tamed beast.
"Oh! Tray!" Gyles said excitedly as he saw Tray walk into the garden "look what Riga can do now". Riga was Gyles tamed beast, it was a pure breed White Wolf.
Beasts are categorized into tiers depending on how powerful they were, the tiers included the Bronze Tier, Iron Tier, Silver Tier, Gold Tier, and Diamond Tier. Gyles beast was at the bronze tier.
Beast tamers could only tame beasts that were not too powerful for them to handle, and they would also rank up stages as their beast rank up tiers. They could also tame as many beasts as they could handle being linked to, if they could handle being linked to a lot, then they would be advised not to tame more than they are capable of taking care of and training.
Beast tamers tend to go for variety, if a beast tamer had three tamed beasts, they would most likely be one strength type, one flying type, and one Life type; these could also be referred to as the healing type.
Of cause, not all beast was just one type, as there were beasts who had sub-types, the elemental sub-types were beast that could control elements, and then the Variation sub-types include the poison types, light types, and much more.
Gyles's beast was a strength type with the sub-type of water control.
As Tray stepped closer to get a good view, he saw Riga controlling the water from a pond making it float over to the flowers not too far away, watering them.
"When I get to the advanced stage I will be able to do that too," Gyles said.
"Before we think of the advanced stage let's get to the novice stage first, at the novice stage you would be able to get her strength and speed".
Since Riga was Gyles's first beast, once he gets to the appropriate stages he would just automatically get her abilities, beast tamers only borrow the abilities of every other beast they decide to tame.
However, unlike borrowing where you get the ability of the beast at the level the beast has it for the duration your mana would last. With your first beast, you automatically get the abilities when you get to the appropriate stage, and can use them without the use of mana well unless the for abilities like the water control that Riga had just shown, those need mana to work, but you would also have to train and practice to get stronger, you do however get a boost to all abilities when the beast ranks up.
Soon after, a servant came to inform them, that Lady Elsan was awaiting them in the motorized carriage. Over the years the study of mana had been fruitful, and a tool capable of gathering, and storing mana was created by a sorcerer named Erin Ewis and he named this tool the mana core.
Not only could this tool be used as backup mana storage for those on any of the Paths of magic, when they run out of mana, It could also be used to power different tools and machines.
When the carriage or any of these tools ran out of mana, you could simply replace the mana core with another one, or wait for it to recharge before turning the tool back on and utilizing it.
As the boys got into the motor carriage, Lady Elsan started to recount the history of the ancient heroes to the boys, she talked about how the heroes received a prophesy, how they went out to change their destinies, she talked about the trials the heroes overcame.
"And apparently only the sorcerer ever returned from the battle. It is also said that the healer was turned to stone, and what is in Ampham is not a statue of her but the actual her."
She then continues saying, "People believe that the fighter, the beast tamer, and the elementalist all died in the final battle. The sorcerer Howis Maford returned from battle but he was extremely saddened by the death of his pears, at first he still came out of his home, but later he just stopped, the noble in charge of our town at that time 998 years ago would send people to check on him."
"It's sad he never married or had any children," she then sighed, "at least that would have given him the motivation to move forward and not just lock himself inside, losing those closest to you can cause severe cases of depression"
"Well, my lady it is possible he had children somewhere but it was just never recorded," Tray replied to the lady.
"I don't still get why he let that weigh him down, I mean he saved the world, not a city or town, he saved everything within the planes of Vora," Gyles said as he fiddled around with his clothes, adjusting them.
"My lady we have arrived," the driver said as he stopped the carriage.
