Chereads / Forbidden Love: The Princess And Her Cursed Beast / Chapter 8 - "Vulgar words don't suit a lady, right?"

Chapter 8 - "Vulgar words don't suit a lady, right?"

"Congratulations, Princess Divale" a lady smiled and raised her glass.

"Thank you, Lady Gaya" Princess Divale smiled at her.

"It's refreshing to finally see a royal child who hasn't had a mishap since birth" the Lady snorted and the vampiresses beside her snickered.

The Princess clenched her hand up to the point her nails were digging into her palm.

"Judging by the record, we should be seeing another fiasco in the palace soon" another lady jeered and they all laughed.

"Seeing you are wasting mouths to speak nonsense, why don't we have them cut off?" the Princess raised her eyebrow with a smirk.

One of the ladies spat her drink out.

"Pardon?"

"You heard me loud and clear. It is because I am in a good mood tonight and also, too many eyes are here. If not, your blood would have stained my lips already" the Princess smirked as all the ladies gasped out loud at her words.

"How could you spew such vulgar words?" One of the ladies coughed.

"Exactly. Vulgar words don't suit a lady, right?" the Princess stepped forward and the lady gulped.

"So next time, don't provoke me to say such" the Princess used her nail to draw a line on the vampiress's neck and her eyes darted here and there in fear.

"If you would excuse me, my ladies. I have a ball to attend to" the Princess bowed humbly and left their presence.

~Insolent beings! If they weren't royal blood, I would have slit their throat there and then!~

The Princess said in her head as she walked down the hall. She made sure to give a lovely smile to hose who greeted her as she passed.

"If it isn't the latest Crown Princess in town," Prince Kelle came with a dashing smile.

"Oh, please, brother, don't flatter me" the Princess waved it off.

"It's not a flatter. I was being serious. You have made us all proud tonight, Divale" Prince Kelle smiled with pride.

"It was my duty" the Princess replied with a smile.

"Now that my baby is all grown up, it's time to discuss her marriage, isn't it?" the Prince placed his hand on her shoulder as they walked down.

"Is it time to meet the suitors already?" the Princess asked.

"Yes, it is. Is there a problem?" the Prince raised an eyebrow.

"No, of course not. Just that, I didn't know the night went so fast" the Princess shrugged.

"Oh, yeah? Are you that nervous that you wish the night never ended?" the Prince asked.

"Oh, brother. You never miss a chance to taunt me" the Princess rolled her eyes.

"I wasn't mocking you, Divi. I was just saying" the Prince shrugged.

"Whatever. When it's time for me to meet the suitors, I'll go without a second of hesitation" the Princess said with a huff.

"Hey, sis!" A husky slurred voice said from behind and laid a hand on the Princess's shoulder.

As soon as Divale smelt the liquor, she knew who it was right away so she turned around with a smile.

The male vampire standing before the Princess had jet-black hair which was now messed up and his brown eyes shined with mirth.

He was in a royal light green suit which a few buttons were opened up now and he deeply reeked of alcohol.

He was Kindare, the second child of the royal family and the 'drunkard' as many refer to him.

"Pleasant evening, Brother Kindare" the Princess bowed.

"Pleasant evening indeed, Divale. You are sparkling tonight!" The second son of the royal family exclaimed.

"Thank you, brother" Princess Divale smiled.

"Kindare, couldn't you have waited before you had some drink? Tonight is very important, don't ruin it with your drunk habits" Prince Kelle held his brother to stand straight.

"Hey, chill. Our baby girl has finally debuted! If we don't drink tonight to celebrate then when else do we drink?" Kindare's smile was sloppy.

"Ain't that right, Crown Princess?" Kindare looked over to Divale.

"You're right, brother but you seem too drunk right now. Why don't you go take a rest?" the Princess suggested.

"That's a great idea, we don't want him causing trouble" Prince Kelle agreed and pushed his brother forward so they leave the hall.

Princess Divale sighed and kept her eyes on them until they had left the hall.

The Princess loved the three of her brothers equally and respected them a lot. Although other people say they are not 'perfect', that doesn't diminish the love she has for them in any way.

That's why when she sees her brother, Kindare, in his drunken state, her heart tears apart for him and she wished she could do something to help him out.

"Congratulations, Your Highness"

The Princess turned back and greeted the old man with a smile.

"Thank you, Lord Manire" she curtsied politely.

Her eyes spotted something at the end of the hall, sitting in a corner and her legs moved to him.

At the corner of the hall, in a dark edge was seated a prince who appeared to be the sore thumb amongst the merry ambiance of the celebration.

He was Prince Khinel, the last son of the royal family and the insane one.

"Pleasant evening, brother" the Princess bowed at her brother.

The Prince looked away and said nothing.

Nevertheless, the Princess sat beside him and overlooked the celebration from where she sat.

"Now I see why you chose this spot, it's a marvelous view from here" the Princess smiled but Prince still said nothing.

Princess Divale sighed.

"Everyone has congratulated me. All except you. Aren't you going to felicitate your younger sister?" the Princess asked.

"Congratulations, Didi" Prince Khinel mumbled.

"Great, now I know that I have my entire family's blessing" the Princess smiled.

"Why are you so quiet this evening? Didn't they give you your favorite pastries?" the Princess asked.

"N-no, I already ate my favorite pastry. I'm-I'm just...scared" Prince Khinel folded his fingers and looked down.

"Hm, I wonder why my brave boy is scared?" the Princess mused.

"T-too many people" Prince Khinel murmured and looked down.

The Princess now understood why her chirpy brother was quiet tonight. He has never been in the presence of so many people before.

When the royal family usually had parties, they would let him play in his room and wouldn't bring him out but because the Princess's debutante was important, they decided to let him out.

Now the Prince was frightened.

"It's okay, brother. These people are nice, they just came to have fun, like you did" the Princess tried to comfort her brother.

"Really?" Prince Khinel asked.

"Yes, you can even play with them if you'd like" the Princess suggested.

"I guess you're right" the Prince's eyes lit up.

"Yeah, why don't you go and play now, huh?"

Prince Khinel jumped up and ran but later stopped and turned back.

"What is it?" The Princess frowned.

"By the way, Didi, you look very pretty tonight. The best!" the Prince gave her a thumbs up before he ran.

The Princess chuckled and shook her head at her brother's silliness.

~So do you, brother. So do you~

The Princess thought.
