Lucifer's newly built fortress - Castle Infernus' - spires and domes stabbed at the sky, chimeras of angel and man flying to and fro above them.
The guards, blood-sworn to Samael, recognized their masked lord from a distance and heaved open the gates: a series of arcane, interlocking metal structures that grinded together, lifting the inner doors open. We surmounted marble steps which rose like Mayan pyramids up to the entrance. I ran to keep pace with Samael, who had morphed into Lucifer in the shade, who ascended with ease, feet seeming to glide over the bloody stone.
