Samael called to the worms below his feet. Masses of them came to the surface, answering the death angel. Their writhing caused a great pit to form below Gabriel, sucking her limp body down into the loam. Samael took to the air, watching his beloved, wretched sister fall into the grave.
"NO!" came a roar from above. The archangel Michael appeared like a golden sun amidst the legion of demons. The archangel's host of seraphim parted the demons as his battalions fought tooth and nail to get through. Michael hacked through Samael's men, advancing. "GABRIEL!" he cried.
Samael raised his scythe, gaze ice as he watched his twin descend through the legion. The demons were powerless against the general, burned to ash by his flaming sword. Michael landed before Samael, eyes wild, blood red hair in disarray.
"You killed her," Michael said incredulously.
Samael's face was stony. "She stood in my way."
