Jayden stood rooted to the spot for a few seconds. He had seen the owl fly away from his window. He recognized it almost instantly. It was the man who could turn into owls and fly away. He had seen him when his room was messed up. But this time he had disappeared without flames or anything. It could mean that Roger was now in danger. He shook that thought out of his head and tried to act as nothing had happened. He acted like nothing happened but he glanced towards the window every minute. It was like he was expecting the owl to enter and shape-shift to a human once again.
"Jayden! " A voice called and Jayden jumped in his chair. Cold sweat broke all over his body, he turned around slowly to see the speaker. There was no one in the room. No one visible. He got up and walked in the corridor. No one was there either. He returned back to his room. The voice sounded familiar. He had heard it once, briefly, yet he was not able to give a name to the owner of voice. Yet it was familiar and some smoky memory was struggling at the back of his head, writhing to be free and reappear as one solid memory.
'It's probably Deja vu. " He said to his room and tried to focus on what he was doing before Roger came. He found himself thinking about the voice just after a minute. Unable to stay focused, he grabbed his shoes and decided to play basketball instead of being alone. He heard some footsteps behind him and ignored it.
"Just because I saw something I haven't seen in days, I am becoming paranoid. I shouldn't Overthink." He murmured while walking down the stairs, trying to convince his heart that was beating somewhere in his throat. Deep down, he didn't believe a word he had just said. But he was not going to acknowledge it. Not until Roger is back with some explanation. He left the house in such a big hurry that he didn't see his brother and his dad sitting in the car and watching something.
They played basketball for a long time and Jacob didn't bring up any other topic. Jayden returned back at the dinner time.
"Hey dad! Why are you so stressed out? " He asked.
"I am tired. Had to attend 5 meetings since morning. Even coffee can't help me now. " He replied. Jayden smiled and joined them on the table. They ate some pizza and it was time for bed. It was an almost normal day for Jayden. He decided that overthinking wasn't going to help him. So instead of overthinking, he got himself readied for a pleasant sleep .
After being awake for an hour, with only his thoughts to accompany him, Jayden felt asleep.
Jayden woke up with a groan. Something was piercing his spine on multiple places. His bed was really hard and uncomfortable. He opened his eyes slowly and took around his surrounding. It took him some time to realize where he was. He was lying on the stairs like a rug. He sat up and walked up to his room. His body was aching. It was like he was thrown on the stairs. Maybe he was, and that is why he woke up. He opened his lamp and was about to sit when he saw it.
Two cold, cruel, brown eyes were staring him from.. Wait from what?! He closed his eyes and rubbed them to get rid of his sleep. He opened his eyes wide and the eyes blinked a couple of time. The wall had eyes. There was someone in the wall, if that is possible. He opened the light and the eyes were gone. He walked towards the house and touched the place where he saw the eyes. Something warm came in contact with his hands. He was about to pull back his hands when something grabbed it. He shouted with all his might.
"MOM! DAD! ANYONE! HELP ME! HELP!.... " He kept shouting until his father bursted through the door, closely followed by his mom and Braylan. He was still pulling himself away fro the wall. Suddenly the thing left his hand and he crashed down to the floor, near Marco's feet.
"There.. the.. there's.. s... some.. one.. in.. in.. th.. the. wa.. wall! " He said shivering and stuttering with fear. Marco went to the wall Jayden was pointing at.
"Oh no! This can't be happening! " He said, shaking his head and turned back, blocking the wall from the the view. "Are you hurt Jayden? Did something hurt you? How did you wake up? " Be asked without waiting for an answer.
"What is it Marco? What do you see? " Jane asked trying to move towards him, but Marco stopped him with a gesture to wait.
"Dad tell us! What is happening? " Braylan asked, staring him keenly. Marco didn't respond. He was staring Jayden intently.
Jayden, who felt much calmer in the presence of his family, explained everything. No one said anything for a long time. Braylan approached Jayden and-
"Show me your hand! " He demanded. Jayden stretched his arm and there was a bruise on his wrist. "Dad move away from the wall please! " He said turning towards Marco who did move away. There were several cracks on the wall. Jane gasped loudly and clapped her hands on her mouth. Braylan got up to see the cracks closely but sometimes else caught his eyes.
"What is this? " He said staring Jayden's bed. He moved towards it to observe it. There were some marks of dirty hands on the bedcover. They were the size of Marco's hands. He stared the marks with a frown on his face and to his surprise, they were fading away.
"They are fading! What kind of magic is this? " He said in awe. He was fascinated, even though it was not a good sign. But he couldn't help it. The marks faded and Braylan walked towards the wall. Just like he guessed, the cracks were slowly disappearing.
"These are disappearing too. And now if we tell someone, we won't have any proof. " He said with a casual glance towards Marco. He has shown his father the clips and everything he knew. Marco just stared him blankly for a long time.
"I can't believe you guys kept so much away from us. I didn't know about anything. What can we do now? " He had said after overcoming the shock.
"You have to make mom believe this and buy some spy cameras. I need them on hallway and stairs." He had agreed to this and ordered the cameras right away. He didn't even argue when he said that he shouldn't speak to Jane inside the house. They had seen the owl episode live on the camera and Marco had promised him that he would try to find anyone suitable for this job at all costs.
Braylan now walked towards Jayden and asked him to show his hand. Sure enough the bruise on his wrist was gone.
"Nothing here either! " He said with a sigh and took a few steps away from his brother.
