Braylan opened the door but no one was there. He turned away, slamming the door as hard as possible, annoyed.
"Who was there?" Samuel asked
"Someone thought it was funny to ring the bell and get lost!" he replied. "Anyways, what should we do?"
"It is upto Jacob. Do you think the amulet has a mesmerizing curse?"
"I don't know Sam! If it has that curse, then why did it started happening even before Jay got the amulet?" He replied, with his head in his hands.
"Maybe you could curse an object with multiple curses and it makes the travel easier." Samuel said sitting on the couch that was opposite to Braylan's. Braylan lifted his head and stared in the dark brown eyes that were deep in thought. "Dude I think we should inform someone. I don't want things to get out of hands."
"Sam, do you think my parents will believe me or drag me to psychiatrist just like Jay?" He asked, rubbing his forehead as it was paining and Samuel shrugged.
There was a knock on the door and Braylan checked his phone. It was almost noon. He walked to the door, opened it and again, there was no one. He walked back muttering to himself and sank into the coach.
"You hungry or thirsty?" He asked Samuel after sometime. The boys were hungry so Braylan made some sandwiches for themselves. Weird sandwiches in fact. The used salad dressing, some ham, cheese, Cheetos and mustard.
"Jacob didn't find the necklace I guess." Samuel said after 5 minutes. They were pretty hungry and finished their sandwiches in jut 5 minutes. There was a knock again.
" I am not going to open the door this time." Braylan said angrily. "Let them knock the door for a thousand years."
"I'll get it! Don't worry." Samuel said and went to the door.
" I can't believe it! There is no one!" Samuel replied.
"Come here with me." Braylan led his friend into a room with a huge screen and some shelves. "We have a security camera on the perimeter."
"And you still bunk your school with no trouble!" Sam replied, looking impressed at the level of daring his friend showed.
"Mom and dad rarely check it. They check it only when there is some suspicious thing. Rarely. Believe me. So let's check who it was. Umm.. I think we should start by 11:30. " Braylan siad and started replaying the recording in fast motion. No one approached the house but at 11:45, a woman with black hair tied in a bun appeared out of nowhere. Her face was not visible. The sound of door opening and closing rang in the room and the woman was still standing. She stood there for 10 minutes before knocking the door once again. The door opened and closed again and she stood there for another 10 minutes. She knocked again and this time she entered the house but before she entered, she looked around and the camera caught her face. Her face was covered in wrinkles but there were lines drawn on her face that enhanced her wrinkles. She was smiling slyly. She then entered the house.
"Okay! Sam, capture her features and send it to Jacob. It is urgent. " Braylon said and Samuel obeyed.
In their panicked state, they missed the face of a man that had. appeared on Samuel's screen while he captured it.
But it was noted by Jacob at once who, after reading the text, left to inform Jayden about the danger he was in.
******
"Jayden do you have some time? I.. uh.. we need to talk!" He said, carefully not letting anything slip.
"Yeah!" He replied with an eyebrow raised in alarm.
"Uh.. we found something that might interest you." He said. He didn't know how to start this conversation. " But promise me you won't tell it to anyone."
"Okay. Tell me."
"Uh.. Well Sam and Bray, they bunked the school today. They wanted to uhh.. have some fun, you know. Video games and snacks." Jacob was very careful. He was hiding the fact that they were searching his room after bunking the school. That would make Jayden angry. "So someone knocked thrice. They opened the door and found no one. Braylan was angry so he checked the footages from the camera. He found this." Jacob showed him the picture. "I think they were pretty scared and didn't notice this man. " He said pointing the man.
"What does that mean?" Jayden asked in a shaky voice.
"It means you are all in danger. Especially you! You are in grave danger. We should speak about this."
"No Jacob you are wrong. I am not in danger. I am fine. But promise me that you will never ever speak about this with anyone."
"Okay, I promise." Jacob replied, looking like he gave up but he had his fingers crossed behind him. They walked back towards their cycles and started peddling to their homes.
***********
"Uh.. Sam who is this?" Braylan asked showing him the photo of the old lady they captured.
"What the hell! I don't know what it is!" Samuel replied.
"It means someone is in this house. Maybe more than one. Man what are we going to do?" Braylan said, ruffling his hair and then covering his face with both hands.
"I don't know. But you should stay strong, dude. We can't give up. Not now." Samuel said squeezing his shoulder in a friendly way. He nodded. He had to do something. But before he could plan on what to do, the pressure in the living room increased, temperature dropped and the room was filled with rotten smell. The boys exchanged a look. They had to face it. They had to face whatever it was.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Braylan asked. The air seemed to have stopped moving and there was no noise. The silence was so deep that it seemed to have its own voice.
Several minutes passed in the silence and Braylan repeated his question.
" You will be defeated boy. You will surely be defeated. You are no match for Georgia!" A cold whisper rang throughout the living room.
