Chapter 28 - Chapter 27

Jayden reached the graveyard once again. He was eagerly waiting for Olivia to come. He wanted to meet Olivia. She made him feel loved and he was waiting to share his three days with her. For some reason, she reminded him of his Gran. Olivia was walking towards him with her warm smile. Jayden felt the sides of his lips stretching in a beautiful smile.

"Hi Jayden, how are you? " Olivia said, smiling and sitting next to him.

"I am fine Olivia, how are you? " And the conversation continued like the previous time. Jayden didn't realize what time it was until -

"I think you should go back Jayden! " Olivia exclaimed. "We can meet after three days if you want. "

"Do you think we can meet daily? " Jayden blurted before he could stop himself. Olivia smiled.

"What's the rush, kid? We can wait for three days, can't we? "

"Yeah of course we can. But I just.. Never mind! See you soon. " Jayden replied and started walking towards the gate of the entrance/exit. He didn't turn back to see Olivia disappear into thin air. He walked back home feeling happy and sad at the same time.

Braylan was sitting in the living room, playing video game. His brother entered the living room, grinning. He was not mad but his new plan was to ignore his brother's presence until he himself comes and apologizes. So he ignored his brother and kept playing his game.

'What is going on in your mind? ' He thought. This was second time in this week that his brother had gone to some place and returned happy. It was like he was enjoying himself away from them. He stole a glance at his brother while he was pouring juice for himself. He was still grinning. For some reason, this annoyed him.

'What are you up to?' He thought. ' I am going to to make sure that you are safe.'

Jayden sat on the couch next to him, clearly ignoring him. After completing his drink, Jayden walked up to his room, still ignoring him. He suddenly had an idea and he followed his brother.

Jayden's door was closed. So Braylan tried to peep from the key hole. He couldn't see much. He tried watching from a different angle, but the result was same. He couldn't see much from that point either. Jayden wasn't speaking or making any sort of noise. All he could hear was a sigh. Or maybe he thought it was a sigh. He groaned in frustration and walked downstairs and continued playing his game. He completed a few levels, then he closed the game and rubbed his eyes in frustration. He had to do something soon or it would be too late.

'Next time he goes out, I follow him from safe distance.' He thought.

He sat there for few minutes, thinking what he should di next. Suddenly, he got an idea and he went to the security room. He should check the footages of past hour. It might help him somehow or put some light on the current situation. He opened the recordings and started replaying the past hour.

"What the hell! " He exclaimed.

Jayden knew that his brother is mad at me. Yet he didn't apologize. It was doing him good that he was mad at him. He was sitting in his room with the amulet in his hands. The surface was cold and smooth. He loved rubbing his fingers on the smooth and cold surface. The surface would suck up heat from his fingers and yet, it would remain cool. He opened the amulet and north in was there inside.

Even though he opened the amulet hundreds of times, yet every time he hoped that something would magically appear inside it. And when his hope shattered, he would feel disappointed and exhausted at the same time. He ran his fingers across the smooth, cold inside and closed the amulet. He gripped the amulet tight, feeling his palm go cold as the amulet was sucking all the heat from him. But he enjoyed this feeling. He didn't want to worry about anything. He didn't have anything to worry about. He went to his bed and stretched himself lazily.

*********

An old lady was following Jayden. When they came close, Braylan was able to identify her. It was the same one who knocked the door thrice. She entered their home with Jayden.

"No way!" He whispered. He watched the footage thrice before actually believing it. He ran a hand through his hair, messing them up.

It was kind of windy outside so Braylan grabbed his sweatshirt and walked outside. He had to meet Jacob or Samuel. As Samuel lived next-door, he visited him.

"You won't believe what I saw! " He said the moment he entered the room.

"What? " Sam asked.

"I saw that old lady enter our house with Jayden! " He replied in a panicked voice.

"Are you sure? " Sam asked.

"Obviously, I am. " He replied.

"Braylan I think we need some help. We have to inform some adult about this." Samuel said in a very serious tone.

"I am thinking the same thing. But I am afraid that they might hurt Jay" He replied thoughtfully.

"They won't! They will help him instead!" Sam replied.

"No. nOt the exorcists or church people. But the spirits! They might hurt him. I can't take any risks. I have to find certain things before I inform any adult. " He replied, desperately.

"Like what, Braylan? " Sam asked.

"Like where is my brother going, and coming back all happy. Does he still have the amulet or not? What type of curse is on that amulet. These can be counted. I might have to do some more detective work. " He replied, again lost in thoughts

"Look buddy, you can find first two answers. But the last one, I doubt it. It requires professional help. If it were that easy, everyone would have been an exorcist. " Sam said, reasoning his friend.

"Ok. But at least let me find out these two, then we can proceed." He replied.

"What do you want me to do? " Asked Sam

"For now, nothing. But I think I might need your help in near future. "He replied with a knowing smile .
