> Acquired EXP: 794
> Required EXP: 800
> Total EXP Earned: 794
Lyrica looked at the Total EXP Earned, and then at the Required EXP. According to what the required experience is showing, Lyrica needs to get 6 EXP to level up.
Lyrica's EXP has been bugging her for a while now. The last time she checked the amount of experience she acquired was around 200 EXP. Now, it appeared that she got more than what she had before, resulting in her having 794 experience in total.
"How come I have 794 EXP?"
Lyrica wondrously asked the voice while keeping her sights on her EXP. During that moment, her acquired experience mysteriously increased by one.
The voice let out half-suppressed laughter.
"Well, you don't necessarily need to kill monsters or complete a quest to gain experience."
"Say what?"
From waking up in the middle of nowhere and admiring a beautiful flower field, to encountering and being chased by creatures only found in Alteria. The voice told Lyrica that everything she does in Alteria, everything that she experienced will equate to the system or her magic ability's EXP.
That experience allowed both her and her magic ability to grow. That is how Lyrica's magic gained the accumulating experience.
"Seriously?" Lyrica uttered in surprise. At the same time, she gained another experience.
"Let's see..."
Lyrica went and try experimenting with the accumulative experience function. An experiment in which she will try taking five steps forward.
Step, step, step, step, step...
With each step, with each movement, Lyrica gained one experience. As a result, Lyrica accumulated five EXP in total.
[The Required EXP Has Been Met!]
"Huh?"
[Level Up!]
Lv. 0 -> 1
[MP And dB Limit Have Increased!]
MP: 20 -> 22
dB Limit: 0 -> 2
[You Have Acquired Stat Points!]
Available Stat Points: 0 -> 3
"I leveled up just like that? Amazing..."
An elated expression formed on her face.
"Sounds like you're thrilled by your magic's amazing function."
Said the voice to Lyrica who's absorbed into her EXP.
> Acquired EXP: 1
> Required EXP: 1650
> Total EXP Earned: 801
It wasn't that big of an amount, but Lyrica found it amazing how convenient it was to gain experience just by walking or even talking to someone.
"No one would find this kind of function in any games in my world."
Lyrica walked around in circles, further increasing her EXP with each round.
"Accumulative experience is good and all, but completing quests and killing monsters will always be faster, especially since your magic also has an EXP multiplier."
"That's right, I almost forgot about that one."
Lyrica pulled the breaks afterward.
"The experience given for defeating Lv. 2 slime is 220 EXP." The voice mouthed. "But because of the two-level difference between you and the slime, the total EXP you received was multiplied by two."
"That's right."
The EXP multiplier works depending on the level difference between Lyrica and the monster she eliminated.
Starting from the two-level difference, the EXP she received for killing certain monsters will be multiplied by two or more. With this, Lyrica can level up fast which then increases her mana pool and decibel, as well as giving her stat points.
"So If I continue to level up, my MP and dB Limit will increase further, and I will also get more stat points." Lyrica stared at her character window. "Sounds easy enough."
Boing! Boing! Boing!
Boing! Boing! Boing!
Just then, Lyrica heard the sound of slimes coming her way.
"Looks like you got so absorbed in your magic power that you forgot you're walking around in a place filled with slimes."
There was no way for Lyrica to talk back after what the voice uttered. The girl did forget she was in a flower field full of slimes while she was checking out the accumulative experience function of her magic.
Lyrica glared at the creatures, revealing their color-coded identities and level. Nine of them are level five slimes, five level fours, and five level threes.
She took a step back.
"No way I can beat those things with my current level."
"Yeah, backing away would be the wisest choice."
The voice spoke, following Lyrica's comment.
[You Have Received A Quest!]
"Ah..."
Lyrica paused as soon as she heard her headphones speak.
She was about to retreat when suddenly, the system notified her of a quest she received.
Quest: Slime Attack!
Defeat all five Lv. 5 slimes with one strike.
Lv. 5 Slimes Defeated:
- 0 / 5
Rewards:
- EXP: 13,500
- Stat Points: 3
"Ha?!"
The instant Lyrica read the quest description, her face turned sour.
"What the hell kind of quest is this?!"
Lyrica's outburst ended up attracting ten more slimes.
"How troublesome...!"
Frustrated, Lyrica ran for her life.
"Hey, didn't you say my magic manifested according to my desire?"
A question escaped out of Lyrica's mouth, soon after recollecting herself.
"My magic's supposed to help me achieve my desire, not to give me troublesome things to do. Isn't that right?"
"That's right."
The voice affirmed Lyrica's question.
Just like what the voice said, her magic ability manifested out of her desire. Knowing this, Lyrica's magic wouldn't give her a quest that would be more than impossible for her to complete.
In other words, the quest she received is doable. She can complete the quest even with a big level difference between her and the monsters she has to defeat all at once.
"What you need to do is to figure out a way to do what the quest demanded."
The voice instructed.
"Figure it out..."
Lyrica looked back at the slimes chasing her from behind.
"Defeat all five Lv. 5 slimes with one strike..."
Lyrica mumbled to herself as she gave the monsters a long look.
"Find a way..."
A total of twenty-nine slimes. Thirteen of them were all at Lv. 5, while the rest are around Lv. 2 to 4.
Lyrica thought, no matter how you look at it, attacking them head-on with her current level and strength is impossible.
However, if the quest suggested that she can defeat more than one slime with one strike, then it's also possible to do the same with the crowd of slimes right behind her.
"Just one strike..."
At that moment, Lyrica remembered the time when she regained her senses before Jazz Harmony finished playing. At the time, she was looking at the creatures in the far distance, bewildered and oblivious about what happened.
But during that time, she was able to witness the capabilities of each kind of slime in the area.
On one hand, an aqua slime is capable of shooting high pressured water, and she experienced it firsthand. The flare slime would heat up before creating an explosion. And the earth slime possesses strength that can bulldoze rocks bigger than its size.
On the other hand, wind slime can fire strong gusts which Lyrica believed to be the cause of the gust that struck her the first time she stood up on her feet. Meanwhile, the ice slime appeared to be capable of freezing almost anything with its chilling, cold breath. And the lightning slime can produce a lightning current around its body, electrocuting anything that comes into contact with it.
As the chase went on, a thought came to Lyrica's mind.
"The quest description said I have to defeat five Lv. 5 slimes with one strike, but it never specified what exactly I need to do the deed."
"What?"
Lyrica spat her thoughts out loud, it made the voice reply, thinking that she was talking to her.
"In other words, I can do it in any way I want."
But the moment these words escaped Lyrica's mouth, the voice knew that the girl's already got an idea in hand.
"Haa!"
Lyrica stomped the ground, slowing the momentum that was dragging her feet until she eventually stopped.
The girl turned around, facing the slimes coming her way. Lyrica took a deep breath, her expression hardened, and her fist tightened.
The girl's upper body gradually leaned forward, and the instant she felt like she was going to fall, Lyrica dashed with great speed. But this time, she's not trying to get away from the monsters. Lyrica ran with an intent to collide with the slimes.
