" I love you" those words were the one that gave colors in my world. Sadly, he don't know what it means. I was all blue, but when he touch me I become a lilac dreams. However he decided that purple just was not his thing. I was bad at love, I know. But by staying at his side that was never a thing I worry about. He was my companion, my friend, my brother, my protector but was never my lover.
While its true that his hug warms my day, it also turns my night into cold sleepless dark. He was my comforter but he also give me endless pain. He was my protector, what he does not know is his my greatest arch enemy. I love him, he loves me. But I was never his nor he was mine.
" Ma'am you have a lunch meeting at 12 o'clock at Ex Cuisine . You only have thirty minutes left before the clock hits twelve." I glanced at my secretary Aby Garcia standing in front of my desk - for a while before returning to reading the new contract proposal. "Ma'am if I were you I would run to my car and go now." she insisted while putting new bunch of folders at the top of the table.
" Well, good thing your not me, darling. Trust me you would not last a minute and just wish that you have never said those words , if I fire you." I told her without looking away from the contract I was doing.
" I just want to spend all of your money even in a minute and then go back to doing my job as your esteemed secretary Miss Falcon." look at this woman not even threatened of unemployment.
" Be thankful your good at doing your job. Anyway I already signed all the papers needed and the emailed the presentation for the board, review those for the meeting." I grabbed my bag and went out the door.
" Thank you Ma'am. Enjoy your lunch."
On my way down inside the elevator, it was also the same time Zed was waiting for the lift. We locked eyes for a good ten seconds before he made his mind to come in and stand beside me.
" Amaryllis Falcon, I haven't seen you in what? Three or four years?"
" Zed Travis, actually its been three and a half year since we saw each other. Too bad it did not stay that way. I take it that your here for your father?" I made sure that the disgust was visible in my face as I answer him. His father is one of the board of directors that is why he can barged into this building whenever he want, if not for his father I would have band him from ever entering my company from the start.
He let out a little laugh before grabbing my hand and forcibly making me look at his way. " Funny as always I see, too bad I miss you so much I felt like I might die that is why I came back. Wishing we could go out. Or what, are you still playing house with the spoiled prince?" mockery is evident in his voice. His grip on my left wrist is so tight I can not shrug it off. And his eyes, they were radiant blue. Jealousy, anger and hate were vivid in those deep ocean blue eyes that have seem to captivate me for a moment. " I don't get it why does the mighty Amaryllis Falcon can't get a grip when his around? You who have conquered many things since we were just toddlers in this world. From being a renowned lawyer to business ventures. You have always been a winner. But when it comes to him you never stand a chance."
His words pierced like a knife getting my heart. I always knew that I will never be a winner when it comes to him. How can I? when I can't even plan my first step when his involved. To fight without an assurance you'll win is an over kill, even for me. But I will never admit that, not to Zed.
" As you said Zed I'm the Falcon. And falcons love it when their preys give them a little chase." I put my right hand over to his neck and pulled him closer. Lowered my face to his neck, slowly moving upward and upward and upward. Until our lips are only inches away. " Its not that I'm a loser nor the winner. I'm just enjoying my fun." finally freeing my left wrist, I grabbed his waist to pull him closer again. Sliding my slightly parted lips in his cheeks over to his ear " You. Are. Just. Too . boring." emphasizing each words as I regain our distance and smirking at him before going out without a second glance and completely destroying his ego.
" Ah! What a good day it is to jerks all over the world." smiling I walk like a ramp model towards my car that was already parked upfront the building by the chauffer, courtesy of my very responsible secretary I presume.
"Good afternoon ma'am. How may I help you?" I was greeted by a bowing waiter when I entered the restaurant.
"Reservation of Christopher Torralba, please." I told the waiter while circling my eyes around the restaurant, to see if they are already here. When the waiter caught my attention to say something.
"Ah! This way ma'am. Mr. Torralba reserve a private room for three." he lead the way. We walked in the hallway before stopping in front of a double door room. "They are already inside ma'am, please ring the bell if you are ready for your order. Thank you for coming." he opened the door for me and bowed again before leaving.
" Mama!" I bended down to greet Chelsey Kae as she towards my direction and immediately hugging me so tight. "I miss you so much, you did not come home yesterday. And papa said you were busy at work. I wanted to go to your office yesterday too but papa did not let me because your schedule is packed all day." i smiled upon hearing what she said. She really talk nonstop.
"Sorry baby your papa was right I was busy all day yesterday and was so tired that I went home to my condo which was nearer to the company. I'll make it up to this weekend, we'll bond and go wherever you want too."
" Really, all day? Your mine? We will go wherever I want?" she looked at me with her sparkling brown eyes, hoping for a good answer.
" Yes, we will, you will be the boss this coming weekend." I patted her head as she jumped and chanted, I will be the boss many times. And went to her back that was on the chair beside the table. I'm guessing she will search the web for places that she wants to visit.
" You are spoiling her too much, baby." I was catch off guard when someone hugged me by my back and surround their arms in my waist. "Hmmm…. my baby still smell so good even after a long day of work." he put his head in my neck and sniffed my scent. And by the mere scent of this man I already knew who he was. I turned around and wrap my arms around his neck. His hands were still on my waist but we are now face to face with each other.
"She deserves it anyway. Sorry I got so busy yesterday and thank you for arranging this lunch." our eyes met, and I saw his turn soft. Those expressive almond brown eyes of his that Chelsey inherited.
"Anything for my queen and my princess." grabbing my hand to raise towards his lips and kissing it. Well, someone wants to be romantic. " Let's eat, I know your hungry." we walked towards the table and he pulled a chair for me to sit beside Chelsey. Getting a glimpse of what she is doing in her phone. Hahaha, I was right she is searching for places to visit.
"Hello, I'll be your waiter for today my name is Mark. What can I help you with today?" Chris must have ring the bell earlier that's why a waiter entered .
" We will get three orders of the steak, well cooked, three of the carbonara, one slice of mocha, chocolate and strawberry cake and iced tea for our drinks please. Thank you."
"Okay sir the food will be serve by thirty minutes. Anything else?"
"Nothing that's all thank you."
Like the waiter said, our order was served after thirty minutes and we all ate heartily in silence. Sometimes we would converse like. How was their day and mine. And also the places that Chelsey would like to visit. All in all it was a good afternoon.
I went back to the office after that and Chris and Chelsey went home too with the concision that he will fetch me after work so that I will sleep at his house this evening.
