Chapter 15 - Chapter fifteen

Ivory's POV

I felt nothing but sheer annoyance as I walked down the pavement, listening to both Reta and Ian argue.

"It is not normal" she insisted like she's been doing for the past few weeks.

"It is" Ian defended.

"It's not" I interjected, though they ignored me, yet again.

"Its completely normal to bath your cat" he crossed his arms, acting as if it were a valid point.

"It is" Reta agreed, though we all knew what that meant "as long as you use your hands instead of a towel... who washes their cat with a towel... that's just immortal"

"I get it, you can use big words... now stop flexing your vocabulary" Ian went on "besides the video didn't even say it was a comedy so it must be true"

"If I wrote online that I don't have a brother... would it be true?" Reta asked, trying to get the point across.

"Probably, you don't lie... maybe I'm a girl" he shrugged simply, making Reta roll her eyes.

"On a serious note though... where'd you find dusk?"

"On the ground" I mumbled, knowing for a fact I had no clue at which part of the forest I found her..

"Elle a été perdue au milieu des bois... Tu es là pour lui demander où elle a trouvé Dusk... Est-ce que tu sais à quel point ça sonne idiot?" Reta spoke towards Ian, while I stood there, confusion clear on my face... I didn't know the language.

"Je ne pensais pas, ok? et pourquoi on parle comme ça?" Ian let out, surprising me a bit... they have a secret language?

"Donc elle ne comprend pas" Reta murmured, glancing at me.

"Bien, nous avons notre propre langue. Et si je... Ivy est ennuyeux" Ian's words caught my attention because I heard my name.

"What are you talking about?"

"Nothing" Reta pushed the idea out of my head "Ian's just talking about something... it's not important"

"What was the language?" I asked "Spanish?"

"We made it up" Reta lied, I could tell from the way she avoided eye contact.

"Alright" I wasn't willing to push it, knowing it was no use.

They were as stubborn as stubborn could get. Besides, I don't see the use of trying to find out... it's not like I can learn the language.

"Why'd you run into the woods?" Ian disrupted the silence, grabbing both mine and Reta's attention.

"I followed R- a rabbit" I corrected before his name could slip out of my mouth.

"Of course you did" Reta rolled her eyes, though Ian gave me a look, letting me know he wasn't buying the act I was pulling. I knew for a fact that he would question me about it once we get home, seeing as he hates too much attention.

I didn't say a another word regarding the subject, not wanting Reta to see through my lies as Ian did.

The walk to the festival was short and quiet, no one spoke, having nothing to talk about. The first thing my eyes landed on was the food stall hosted by Ms. Robertson... one of the best bakers in town, might I add.

Not wasting another second, I dashed towards the stall, having a feeling the queue would be packed in a while. Every single time I attend the festival, this is the first place I'd run off to. Though you couldn't blame me after you taste the pastries there. It honestly deserved to be nominated the best in the entire world... oh, how I missed this.

The look on Ms. Robertson's face clearly stated she didn't know I was back "still the usual?" she questioned from the other side of the long table that was filled with delicious looking food, which I couldn't wait to taste.

I merely nodded my head at her words, knowing what she meant. She knew what I always ordered considering I used to come here almost everyday... that was before the whole accident occurred.

I watched as she prepared my order, barely able to stop myself from jumping on the table and finishing everything all together.

When I was a kid, I remember sneaking a bunch of food out, especially in these sorts of festivals and weddings. Don't get me wrong, I would pay for it all... I would place the money down on the table and take the food... I hated waiting in line.

Wedding and parties were my favorite though, seeing as I didn't have to pay. I could simply just take as much as I liked... which was a lot, but we weren't going to talk about that now.

"Thanks" I let out, gabbing the bag, before handing her some money from my front pocket. I knew it was at least fourteen dollars extra, but that was just my tip. It's not like I was spending my parents money, I was just spending my allowance, which I was surprisingly still able to get... even after all the trouble I got in.

Ms. Robertson sent me a small smile, before turning towards the next costumer. I knew she was going to be busy today considering she didn't have anyone to help her around the booth. Even though a lot of people offer to help, she doesn't agree considering she would have to share part of the profit she made... throughout years of experience, it didn't look like she needed any help anyway. She knew her way around the place as if it were her room. That was something I admired a lot about her.

Turning around I went to walk away, though stopped when my eyes caught something.

TRANCELATIONS

"She was lost in the middle of the woods... You're here asking her where she found Dusk... Do you have any idea how dumb that sounds?"

"I wasn't thinking, okay? and why are we talking like this?"

"So she doesn't understand"

"Nice, we have our own language. What if I... Ivy is annoying"
