I had the mind to start counting down on the days till I am actually killed for being a curious little maid. I laughed sardonically in my head as I thought of all this. I thought I was finally going out of my cell to experience a bit of the world and not walk right into my death but I guess with me life really had a funny way of putting me back in my place.
Finally I heard the sound of the doors opening once again and realized that he was here to finish what he started earlier. I wanted to open my eyes but i don't want to see the sinister smile he would have on his face before finally taking care of me. I preferred to die without seeing the pleasure in his eyes as he drained the life out of me.
"You can open your eyes. I know you're awake" the new voice said to me in a voice that was softer than I was used to since I started working here and meeting other superiors. For a good minute I was glad someone was talking to me like that but then I remembered I couldn't be too happy with this new stranger as well.
"I'm not going to hurt you. Don't you want to get out of here?" he asked again and this time I looked at him through the darkness trying to make him out. He bent to my level and took the chains that held me to the ground off and then pulled me to my feet. I let him do as he wanted because deep inside I knew he was just like the other man that brought me down here.
I walked behind him, head bent and trembling in fear as he led me through the unfamiliar hallway lit with torches along the ridges in the walls. I had yet to understand everything that was happening to me but I was just grateful to be out of that place where the stench of blood sullied the oxygen and made me feel sick with the screams from the other people held in the cell with me.
We moved in silence through the halls as our feet did all the talking for us. I was moving really slow due to the pain in my ribs and my head. I was too afraid to push myself fearing what would become of me if I just dropped to the ground. I did not ask any questions and he did not bother to speak as well. It seemed as if he had so much on his mind that he even forgot I was behind him until we walked for a while and came to stand before two large oak doors with a skull knocker.
He held on to the knocker and slammed it against the massive doors before directly walking inside. I saw a ghost of a smile on his face as he did it making me wonder if he needed to actually knock or he was doing it for fun. He must have been one of the people on the top if he could come for me from that cell without the crazy man after him.
He walked in slowly as if to match my pace as he entered the room. I stopped at the door once it was shut confused as to what my next step would be. I dared not look up in fear of who I was going to meet or what was waiting for me in the room I just walked into with no second thoughts.
I heard the sound of a heavy chair scraping the tiles as the occupant stood up and then a voice I knew I had heard before commanded me to look up then I lost it.
The last bit of control I had over my body left me as I dropped to my knees before him head down and hands behind my back. My breath hitched in my throat as I assumed position. I didn't even know I knew anything about it.
My eyes did not leave the floor nor did my hands unravel themselves to make me more comfortable. I was still yet to understand why I was kneeling before him. His hands reached out under my chin to raise my face to meet his and his eyes focused on my face as he took me in once again. He turned my head from side to side as if to inspect the damage that was done to his possession. I shivered as his fingers grazed the skin off my neck as he let go of me. My breath hitched in my throat from that sensation and I closed my eyes in shame of what was happening although I couldn't understand what I was feeling.
"I leave you for a while and you get yourself in trouble?!" he asked with a displeased look on his face. I gulped and shook my head not knowing if I was supposed to defend myself with him. " I want an answer" he stated simply not even stepping back to give me room to relax. I shook my head in denial but that seemed to put him off more but I was tired. " I want your words". I didn't speak and he left my space back to his desk still looking at me.
"Bring Deacon over " He said to the man who had brought me out of the place I was kept. He left the room with a firm nod toward my owner and shut the door behind leaving me alone with him. "I thought I told someone to take care of you before I left. How in hell did you end up down there?!" he asked me, head tilted and waiting expectantly for my answer. "I'm -so s-s-s-sorry" I stuttered out. He scoffed and his eyes narrowed in my direction once again. I could tell he was displeased by my answer but I had nothing else to say. " That does not answer my question, little girl" he snarled at me. "I wandered off on my own. She did nothing wrong please." "She did nothing? How sweet. You want to protect her already?!". I cowered at that very moment as he turned to me and he looked ready to tear me to pieces.
"I left you in her care and saw where you ended up. It's just right for me to punish her as she deserves''. I shook my head violently protesting with his judgment. He couldn't punish her for me. She has been the one to help me around and dare I say she is a new friend I have made and had no such desire to lose her as quickly as I got her. I could see the change in his demeanor as I pleaded for one of my own. It seemed as if it irked him that I offered, dread crawled up my spine thinking of what was going to come next.
At that moment, the door was pushed open and my rescuer came strolling in holding onto a mans' shirt collar. I turned to look at the person my rescuer was dragging in and recognized him as the man who was holding me in the cell for seeing him in that position. He threw him at the feet of the owner who sat in his seat again with his legs crossed and fingers locked in front of him. I watched as the man who made me suffer these few days knelt at the feet of my owner and began to beg.
Deacon, it been a while since we've had a conversation". ''Sir,- please, pardon me" he begged trying to get a hold on the legs of my owner but he was faster. He lifted his leg and kicked towards the man at his feet sending him flying a few steps back and landing the cold tiles. The look of utter disgust on my owner's face as he looked at the man on the floor made me swallow the rising bile in my throat.
"Nathan, bring me the girl"he stated and Master Nathan moved to get Lily. Meanwhile Deacon stood from where he was thrown and tried to move towards my owner once again but was stopped by an order uttered. "I don't understand Sire, what did I do to deserve this"
