"I don't want to."
"Pardon?" Jaris looked at Issac, eyes widening in confusion.
"I don't want to take Clause with me. He is about the same age as Emery and I will have two children to look after instead.
"In an environment where, it seems, death is unavoidable."
"But, Issac, you are the only one is will be able to look after Clause." Jaris started to panic. "I don't think I will be able to protect him. Besides, you need him too."
"I do," Issac said, nodding his head. "But that does not change the fact that they are still children. Brining him with me ... I feel like I am just playing into their hands."
"Then, should I arrange for you all to move to another country? I could provide-"
Issac shook his head, "That will not work. Our old man made sure we cannot escape. The longest we can stay out of our town is a week, at the most.
"Any longer and we will start dying. Or going on a rampage. It depends."
