[Azenora's PoV]
He had a beautiful smile, the curve of his lips was hard to resist and harder to ignore when it stirred something foreign yet familiar inside her heart.
"You are late."
Azenora only said those three words while she let her knight bring her down from the carriage. He had only chuckled in response as he led through the crowd of cheering people. His fingers lingered a little too long upon hers before he created the much-needed distance.
The shadow of his warmth, however, lingered for longer.
She stole a glance at him, he was a step behind and as calm and aloof as ever but as her knight, his gaze was alert and unfortunately, when it swept past the crowd of onlookers, several girls and even some men turned red.
Azenora looked ahead with a bitter frown as she wondered if she should ask all knights to wear veils just like they make some maids wear that.
