Chapter 1 - Κεφάλαιο ένα

A new flower would blossom.

But a green snake would spit its venoms to its roots.

Eight arrows would befall on the world.

Darkness overpowers the light.

The owner of the wheel will save the flower.

The flower, together with Death holding an inverted torch, brightens the world.

That's when the darkness meets its end.

That's the prophecy that shooks the whole world. Especially when it came from the goddess of the night, Nyx.

The day it was announced is also the day when I was turned into a demon. I'm not sure if it is a good thing, but I was near touching Death's hand when Hecate found me.

The loud chatter of people and the vendors trying to sell their goods liven the atmosphere at the market. I approached the stall where Eundros is selling his honey and eggs.

"Khai're, Eundros! Are we selling good today?"

"Khai're, Corra! Yes, I've also spared some good eggs and honey for you. Your master would like it."

I looked around at his products. I picked the freshest eggs and the sweetest honey I could buy. Hecate would be happy to see this.

I reached for 15 drachmas in my pocket and gave it to Eundros. He received it with a big smile because of the big tip.

"My Master told me to give you extra drachmas because she really likes your honey and eggs."

"May your master be blessed by the gods."

It's a weird thing to hear Hecate be blessed by the gods when she is also a goddess. Nevertheless, I smiled again at Eundro and put the goods in my basket.

I carefully fix my hood while walking when a child suddenly bumps into me. Luckily, the food was still in the basket. I stoop down to the child who is on the ground.

The child's teary eyes met my eyes.

"You're so beautiful.", the child says the compliment with wide eyes.

If only he knew, would he still say that? said from the darkest corner of my mind. I shake my head off and smile at the child.

Judging from his clothes, he must be a child of a merchant. I help him get up.

A woman who looks like to be the child's mother seems to run based on her sweating.

"Isidore! What did I tell you if you sneak off again?" she asked, using a commanding tone.

"Gello will take me and eat me," Isidore whispers, but I heard it.

It seems like the tale about Gello has reached this town.

The woman seems to notice me now.

"I'm sorry for causing disturbance for you. Would you accept this apple to be my token of apology?" she handed me the golden apples. This is a rare type of apple, and only the Kome Tribe can grow it. They are located in Rhode Island, which can be accessed after a month on the sea.

"This is too much! I can't accept this." but the woman simply shakes her hands off.

"It's okay. There are only a few kind people here. You are the first one who didn't push my son away. That's why I'm grateful."

"Thank you for your graciousness," I said and look at the child. "But you must be careful. The market consists of all types of people, and maybe, the next person you will bump into is not a beautiful lady anymore." I warned him. He obediently nods his head before he turned his back away from me. The mother says her farewell.

I look at them until I can't see him anymore. I always loved children, but they don't love me because of my actual appearance. That's why I would always be thankful for Hecate and her magic to make me look normal and make it possible for me to interact with children where they do not fear me.

I make my way to the forest and go straight into the bush. It is an illusion created by my master to confused the outsiders.

The hums of the birds and the flowing of the water from the falls welcome my ears. The green scenery is always relaxing to look at when you are in distress.

"Corra! I'm hungry!" said Hecate wearing a black veil that only covers her intimate area. Luckily, I'm the only servant in this area. Most of her followers are taking care of her temples and believers. I'm a unique case.

"I will prepare the foods immediately. Please wait at the dining area, my lady."

I prepared the dishes in a fast way to ease Hecate's hunger. While Hecate is eating, I took out the papyrus, where the events she needs to attend for the next few days are written.

"The wedding of Peleus and Thetis would happen on Moon day. Also, there would be a meeting regarding the nearing Olympic games on Saturn's day."

I stop because I knew she wasn't going to listen anymore. Also, the two events are the most important on the list. Hecate doesn't really like this kind of stuff. She would prefer to be having fun with the Amazonians or exploring Tartarus.

"The wedding of Peleus and Thetis? Hmm, are all gods invited? Because if not, I would simply not go." Hecate after she wiped her mouth with a napkin. Signaling, she finished her meal.

"Yes, but it is rumored that Lady Eris is not invited due to her behavior for causing arguments."

Hecate laughs, and I have a weird feeling that something that is not good will happen.

"Something interesting will happen, and I would not miss it." Hecate wicked grins show in her beautiful face. She stood up to her chair and goes straight to the room where her items for magic are displayed.

I continued my daily chores until the moon shows up in the sky. I lay on my bed and stares at the made-up stars that I put on my ceiling.

My siblings, Ambrosia and Ambrose, really loved stars. They said the stars make the plain sky beautiful. They also liked how the stars do not make the moon lonely and even on the night where the moon does not show up. They provide us the light we need.

Bright children and I failed to protect them.

My eyes started to sting as I remember the past. If only I didn't leave that day. They would still be alive.

The night is long, so is my regrets ang grief. I cried myself to sleep while blaming myself for their deaths.
