Chapter 5 - Start the Bidding!

"Exquisite Baroque-style home decoration completed! Room attributes generating!"

"Attributes generating completed!"

"Room attributes as follows: Cheating + 20, Rising step by step + 15."

Smith was a little dumbfounded.

He had seen the future fate of Clive's wife.

After finishing the renovation at Clive's house, Smith left quickly.

He did not dare to stay in the house any longer. Although he did not have a girlfriend nor did he actually live in the house, he was worried that it might become effective if he stayed in it for too long. Everything would then be over!

As for what would happen to Clive, it was not his problem to consider.

After all, this house also had positive attributes.

For example, getting promoted step by step.

For rich people, it was not a big deal if their wives cheated on them. As long as they could get promoted step by step, it was good enough.

After leaving Clive's house, Smith went back home to continue working on his plan.

This time, he was going to fight for other projects like the highways.

After all, only projects like these could earn him money.

Every project would generate millions!

According to the system's ability, he could earn at least half of what the project was worth.

The money earned from the toilet renovation was nothing compared to such projects.

The next day, Smith wore a suit to the conference. The people in the construction area participated in the conference.

Smith submitted a proposal there. He then waited for them to accept his proposal.

This time, he did not look for anyone in particular, nor did he invite anyone to dinner.

After all, it was open to public bidding as it was such an important construction project. Everyone had to rely on the proposals to decide the outcome.

The best proposal would have the best chance.

There were two companies that were offering similar prices. The difference between the two was about a hundred to two hundred thousand. At this time, only favors were useful.

Otherwise, even if you had connections and wanted to ask for a higher price, the project would not be given to you.

Smith was confident that his cost was the lowest. His price was 600,000 yuan per kilometer. The entire project was 10 kilometers. This meant that he would earn about 6 million yuan.

As for the other companies, they required about 750,000 to 800,000 yuan per kilometer. If it was any lower, they would not be able to earn any money.

Therefore, Smith was not afraid at all. Unless it was a company that had already been decided on internally which does not usually happen, he is likely to get the job. Plus, there was no point in having public bidding if they had already decided on a company.

A little while later, the leader of the construction area walked up to the podium.

"This time, the company that won the bid for the construction of the highway from Hexi to Ring Road is Super Power Construction Engineering Co. Ltd. Their bid price is 600,000 yuan per kilometer!"

When they announced the bid price, the bosses of the other companies were dumbfounded.

600,000 yuan per kilometer? If this price was built according to the construction requirements, the company would definitely be losing money.

As for those who did not follow the construction requirements, it would be like courting death.

Who would dare to cut corners for such a project? It was not possible to deduct a little somewhere or use less material.

The highway was not a house. The sand, stone, cement, and asphalt were all labeled. It was impossible for them to be substandard. Therefore, they could not save much money at all.

According to each company's calculation, the minimum cost per kilometer needed to be more than 620,000 yuan. They would need to go up to at least 650,000 yuan to not suffer a loss. However, it was also not profitable at such a price.

Therefore, everyone's price was more than 750,000 yuan. They had to earn at least 100,000 yuan per kilometer. They would only earn 1 million yuan after calculating the cost of the project.

There were also taxes and expenses that could not be made public. Therefore, if it was less than 750,000 yuan, no one would take the job. It would be laborious and not profitable.

At the end, who would have thought that Smith would take the job at a price where he would lose money?

Smith did not care at all. He walked up to the stage and signed the contract with the people in the construction area.

The bosses from the other construction companies cursed in their hearts when they saw Smith stand up.

"You may be smiling happily now but when you build the highway, you will pay for it with death!"

When Smith saw the bosses gnashing their teeth at him, he smiled happily.

If it was not for his lack of strength, he would say, "All of you here are trash!"

When the contract was signed, the leaders of the construction area were also unhappy with Smith as he used low prices to win the bid.

Plus, Smith did not give them any gifts.

The bidding prices were also too different. They could not openly engage in shady business. Otherwise, this could be used against them by their political enemies.

Therefore, they had no choice but to let Smith win the bid.

Nevertheless, they had also made up their minds. They will follow the strictest standards to review the project. If the quality was not up to standard, they would definitely send Smith to jail!

As for Smith, he did not care at all.

After signing the contract, he received the first phase of the construction payment of two million yuan.

Smith then went to the market to buy some roadblocks.

According to the contract's requirements, the construction is not to be carried out during the day. Smith can only start construction after 9 pm.

There also had to be clear fences. Therefore, Smith had to personally buy the roadblocks.

His company was just a shell company with no other employees.

Smith had to do everything himself.

Smith was ready to hire some people after he finished the project.

At the very least, he will need to hire some people for the finance department as he did not know how to do the accounts.

At night, Smith began to build the highway himself so it would not look too creepy.

He bought a panoramic simulation system from the system.

That way, people outside could see that the road was being built.

At most, it will look like it was going faster.

For the whole of next week, Smith went to work on time every night, and the road was being built at a speed of one kilometer per day.

Smith worked steadily and waited for the road to be completed. He then went to pick up the balance of the payment.
