Glamour's POV
It all started when I played that fucking stupid game, "just say yes" I wonder who even brought the idea of playing something so preposterous...
I shouldn't have gone to that club that night, I shouldn't have let Maya talked me into playing a ridiculous game with a bunch of crazy strangers. And I shouldn't have signed any damn contract jokingly or not.
Maybe, just maybe, if I had stayed back home that night, then this story would have been a different one, or maybe there might not have to be any stories to be told. But I didn't. I went out, not just out, but to the club, a place that harboured nothing but those we're meant to stay away from.
I didn't just go to a club that they prohibited me from going to, I also played a game that made my life do a 180-degree turn.
So here I was walking down the aisle with a forced smile on my face, holding up a bunch of red roses while wearing a knee-length black dress and 3inches scarlet heels...
Looking ahead, I walked as slowly as I could never have imagined was humanly possible. I filled each step I took with regrets and wishes that I could just wake up and all this would be a nightmare.
I closed my eyes and assumed that when I opened them, then I would be on my bed waking up from a terrible nightmare, but when I did, I realized just how real this was.
I watched with horror how he stood at the end of the aisle not more than 3ft tall with a broad smile on his face, like a 7yearold who had just been gifted his favourite game.
I have nothing against short people but with my 5ft9 I would tower over him, how am I supposed to live with that.
My parents were against this whole thing. I don't blame them though, because even I, I'm against all of this. But I had no other choice. I had to either marry a stranger or marry a strange man, there's just no way around it.
Maya stood by the left side at the end of the aisle, looking apologetically towards me.
Never in million years would I have ever dreamt of marrying a stranger, and to say one that's half my height was even out of the question.
This is all her fault, no this is my fault I should have never left the house, I should have stayed within the four corners of my room, on my cozy bed drinking coffee, and busy watching a bunch of random movies as if my life depends on it, but I didn't.
The event that had led to this situation came back playing in my head as I walked down that aisle.
***Two weeks ago***
It was on a Friday night, and we rarely have classes on Mondays, so that's an automatic 3days break for us.
"Get your lazy ass up," Maya had said after barging into my room like she's always done. "We are going to a club tonight, to get you a boyfriend," she added after situating herself on my bed. She always does this, tries to get me to go out but fails most of the time.
"No, thank you. I think I'm going to stick to shuffling through random movies till I find one worthy of my precious attention. I don't need a man in my life, they just stir up trouble." I asserted nonchalantly and continued to search for a new movie to watch.
Even after I said that, Maya still dragged me up from my bed and into the bathroom, forcing me to take a shower. I came out a few minutes later after taking a quick bath and ransacked through my closet to find something to wear.
I later settled with wearing my black denim shorts and a bright red crop top that had 'scream hot' written in white shiny cursive letters.
We both left the house in Maya's car and later arrived in Crystol. She parked the car in the club's parking lot and got out of the car. I was sceptical about going into this club, because of the things that were been said about it.
We both went in after Maya talked to the two gigantic women at the gate of the club. I looked at them warily; I mean, I don't think I'm the only one who finds it bizarre that females are the bouncers at a club, right?
Anyway, the moment we entered, loud music blasts my face coupled with the sweet scents of perfumes mixed with sweat, which made me a little nauseous.
I turned to yell something at Maya, but she was already at the dance floor dancing, forgetting we came in together. She always does that, that's how much she loves to dance.
I went to the bar and sat there. After ordering a coke which I made sure the bartender didn't put even a drop of alcohol in it, I collected my drink and watched everyone dance.
Maya was just hurling her hands in the air while moving her body accordingly with the beats.
And just then, someone else caught my attention. It looked like some 8years old boy, 'who in the world let's an 8year old boy into a club' I thought in my head.
I was about to ask the bartender about it, but then I saw him talking to Maya. she crouched down to his level while he yelled something into her ears, she then looks to the bar because she knows that's where id be and then started walking in my direction.
"Who in the- "I said when Maya cut me off screaming "let's go upstairs," and she practically dragged me with her.
what's weird though is that we seemed to follow the boy up because he was ahead of us, leading the way.
We later entered a VIP room with less noise and just a bunch of strange guys. We were only three girls, Maya, me and a blonde girl who sat on the laps of a guy while they eat out each other's face, but they stopped when we took our seats.
Everything all started when I looked closely at the eight-year-old who turned out to not be an eight-year-old at all, but a full-grown man who lacks the gift of height, proposed we play a game "Just say yes."
He claimed we staying here and drinking is not fun at all not that I joined them in the drinks though, because I don't do alcohol, I've never tried it, and I don't intend to.
They all agreed to play the game. We were 6 people in total me and Maya included, he then explained how the game works.
"Okay so basically, just like its name 'just say yes, you tell someone to say yes, and if that person says yes the first time, then you get to ask the person two more requests that they have to say 'yes' to, even if they don't want to," he explained.
The game didn't sound fun to me, so I decided to just watch them play.
"I think I get it, so I'll go first," Maya announces, and they all agreed. She pointed to a guy wearing blue jean trousers and a grey shirt and yelled, "just say yes."
And he answered "yes," which caused her to smile before she continued.
"do you think am pretty?" Maya asked in a drawled manner, and he answered with a short,"Yes," before smiling.
"Would you go out on a date with me?" she asked her last question.
"Yes", he replied, and she squealed while jumping from her seat and onto his laps, and he held her there.
The poor guy doesn't know she'll tire of him after one date.
"Your turn, Glamour" Maya announced, and even though I had no intention of playing, I just thought why not just have fun since am already out, there's no harm in trying I guess, plus I didn't want the little man to feel left out, But I had simply guessed wrong.
The little man was the one who asked me to 'just say yes'
And like the fool I was, I said "yes."
Now I have to say yes to two other requests or questions.
"Would you sign a contract right now?"
"Yes," I answered sceptically.
"Regardless of its content?" he asked again...
I felt a little alarmed at his requests but I thought, it was only just a game it won't be binding even if I sign the contract so I said "yes".
And That was how all this epitomized. The contract I had signed that night was no other than a marriage contract, one that breaching was not even part of an option, and neither was getting a divorce.
***
So here I was matching to my personal doom, in the open night sky with stars as luminous as diamonds in the sky.
If only this was a different scenario, where I was walking towards the love of my life, someone I've always wanted to spend forever with, then it would have been a romantic scene... But this was like a scene from a horror movie, one where I'm the sacrificial lamb, walking with her talons, right unto the sacrificial table.
I finally arrived at the altar where the priest was waiting to join us in an unholy matrimony with a broad smile on his face, making me grimace. If only he knew what he's about to do, if only he knew he's about to commit an unintentional murder, then he wouldn't have smiled.
I looked down at my supposed husband, but he was no longer there instead someone else was standing in his position, who was not a small man, he was a tall, broad one which I had to raise my head a little bit to look at him.
And My breath hitched,
What's going on? Why is he standing here? I thought frantically as I found it hard to breathe.
