If God Ison was up there watching me, he would be crying with laughter. How could someone have such a bad luck?
All my life, I had been failing. I failed to defeat Raptor, not once, not twice but even this time! I died and barely came out of the dead. My father died along with Rock Flames, the captain of the team. The only family member who still survived was my grandmother and she fell to her death. Great, isn't it?
The ground had parted and I stood on the edge, almost falling as I watched the land consuming everything in the middle. It was a shock for me and it took me a few seconds to think straight. Wade was shouting out orders to get back and I obeyed. The two dragons flew up in the sky And Raptor got out of the area. I managed to return back safely but thoughts were engrossed in my mind.
Was it all over? It didn't seem like it. The ground stopped quaking and magically got together again, as if the only reason it had parted was to kill my grandmother. But nothing happened which made me curious. Had we really stopped Drakolleus? Did we win? All the DELTAs had a confused look.
But then it began. About ten meters in front, a figure started emerging from the ground. I backed away, looking at the disgusting creature. The monster was literally in liquid form until it actually got out of the ground. Then it gained form and became solid. It was a Xorain soldier.
Al around us, liquid monsters started emerging out. We backed up to an edge of the peak. "Okay, this is scary." Xavier stated. "The awakening was successful. Now each and every sealed Xorain will be set free. We failed." Mark concluded in his usual low tone which made me even more depressed.
Looking at the monster, Xavier enquired, "Why are they so… fluid-like?" It was a gross sight to watch. Wade replied, "They were sealed deep into the ground. Now they emerge back in their real form, into the real world." All this was too much to think about. I had a lot of tension that was bursting my brain. First thing was that we had failed – again!
Raptor made a wicked laugh and announced, "Now King Jalaar will put you into your place!" By that time about hundreds of soldiers had arrived. And this was bad. "We need to go. We aren't ready for such a battle!" Wade said. Xavier agreed. "Alright. Get to the warship. Some of you fly with Colloseus. We need to get out of here."
Colloseus looked ready and Amanda and Xavier hopped on. They flew off to the bottom of the mountain. Mark said, "Okay, this may be a little dizzying…" He told Oliver. He grabbed his grappling hook and Oliver replied, "More than dizzying, I guess." Mark caught Oliver and used Quester to aim at the nearest things to get down. They left off with Oliver screaming at the top of his voice. As of me, I had no help. But I knew exactly what was needed to be done. I used Magnum's power and floated in the air, the new move I had learnt.
Before flying off, I looked back one last time at the huge mob of monsters spawning. King Jalaar hadn't arrived yet but I noticed Lily's dead body. I remembered what her last words were. Victory to the DELTAs, she had screamed. Her final wish looking at me was to stop all this and I needed to do that, for her.
But now wasn't the time. I retreated back down. My powers hadn't been that efficient yet and I had to travel by foot after some time. In about ten minutes or so, I reached the base where everyone awaited me. "First of all, we need to get to some safe place." Wade told. His soldiers nodded in agreement. Colloseus declared, "We shouldn't go too far out. We haven't planned anything yet for the future and so we should not take a risk by going far." The dragon had a point and it was decided that we would go to the nearest safe place where Jalaar's army wouldn't come immediately.
Xavier started the warship along with me by his side. Fortunately, I hadn't forgotten the controls totally and was of some help to Xavier. We handled the controls and the ship took off with all the DELTAs. Wade and his soldier went by foot and some of them travelled on Colloseus's back.
In about an hour we reached a small carving in a mountain. It was enough to keep us safe from any fire-breathing dragon and two-thousand year old monsters. We entered the cave and the first thing I did after exiting the warship was just throwing me on the ground. I had been too tired to even speak. Moreover, what all had happened didn't encourage us to speak either.
We sat there for about two hours without talking at all. Some of the soldiers dozed off. Some others stood in guard. I was too deep in thought. Then finally Mark started, "Guys, sitting here will not help any of us? What's the plan now?" Xavier nodded, "You're right. Lily would have smacked our heads if she was here. She would have yelled at us to get to work. We need to do this, for her."
"Let's start from zero. We need to begin a new fight against the King." I suggested. "But where to start?" Oliver demanded. I replied, "My grandmother's last words were for me. 'Meet the Red One', she had screamed."
Colloseus eyes went wide after hearing me. "Are you talking about the Red One? Talking about the Red One is bad news. Our fight would now have a different dimension to it." The dragon announced. That caught everyone's attention. All those who had been sleeping woke up, now listening attentively.
"What do you know about the Red One?" I enquired. It was the question in everyone's mind. Colloseus declared, "Try not speaking about him too much. Even Drakolleus and I fear him. He is Lord Ison's greatest enemy… and one of the oldest beings."
That was creepy. I had learnt one thing. Whenever a dragon says that he is scared, it would be the most difficult threat by far. The dragon walked up to the opening of the cave when the Saphrop was slowly rising. Staring at the horizon, Colloseus announced, "But one thing is sure. Our next stop is at the Red One's domain. Prepare yourselves, DELTAs. This is scarier than you think."
