When the first rays of dawn threatened to break out across the sky, Faith and Andrew were already in their saddles. She had never seen one person out this early. Neither of them had a moment of sleep during the night. It was better off continuing their journey than to lay down wide-eyed pretending to sleep.
Andrew hadn't said a word since then. His last words, 'I'm useless', still echoed inside Faith's mind. She was better off continuing her pretense of being a pampered, good-for-nothing princess and letting him be her savior. Maybe then he would be a better travel companion.
Faith pondered for hours, lost in her thoughts. As they went by a pond, Precious took her off guard. He neighed and stood up on his hind legs. Faith fell in the water like a rock. The freezing lake assaulted her senses and rushed between her lips, snatching her air.
