Ayala felt she was doomed when she saw the tree charging towards her. She knew she wouldn't be able to escape it in time, and her feet wouldn't have listened to her anyhow. Ayala's thoughts went blank as she stood there with her eyes wide open, looking at the cracked bark that was fast approaching.
The only thing she was able to focus on in that split second in which it seemed like a year had passed was that she would no longer see the emerald sea in Terix's eyes. As this thought crossed her mind, everything darkened.
The sky had turned black and she could no longer see the tree coming toward her. What was strange was that the impact sound of the wood was heard right above Ayala, but she did not see or feel anything.
She could catch a glimmer of light out of the corners of her eyes on the sides, but she couldn't move. A soft hand rested on her shoulder, and she recognized her friend's voice. "Ayala, are you all right?"
