When I woke up, it was the late rays of sun that landed on my face. Wincing as my back was sore from sleeping on an uncomfortable firm surface, with a thin blanket draped over my body. I took a deep breath while looking at the unfamiliar ceiling and was about to get up until I turned my head to the side.
Studying Elias, who was holding onto my hand sleeping on his free elbow right next to the couch. The sight brought a gentle smile to my lips, as it was relieving to see that he was finally resting because I knew that he wouldn't dare to rest, not in a time like this.
Looking at our hands, I noticed how he was gripping onto them in fear that I'll leave again, taken from his sight. Taking in a deep breath, I sat up on the couch, using my free hands to stabilize myself, as I grew dizzy.
I didn't grow dizzy because I sat up too fast, I got dizzy as last night's events resurface. As the room got dizzy, the pain slightly worsened, taking my breath away.
