Raymond's point of view.
Looking out of the car window I watched the bare trees and the dry land going by quickly, as the SUV drove down the highway. The inside of the car was filled with an eerie silence. I don't know what my father is thinking in his mind, but his face had a hint of sadness like he was leaving a dear friend.
"Father, will we come back next year?" I asked, looking at the old ruler. His black hair was pulled up into a half updo, where his gold hairpiece with white jade peaked every once in a while when we were turning. He was in traveling robes, although with the finest quality, showing his status among the rest of us.
His brown eyes looked out the window, looking distant, like searching for something. His face scrunched up like he heard something unpleasant in my question, I let out a sigh when I didn't receive an answer.
