I stood dumbfounded, why would she want to leave? It actually kind of funny, I was just wanting her gone, but I never expected her to ask herself. I couldn't let her have the last laugh though, even if meant me suffering. "Sorry, you aren't leaving." I said grabbing her by the shoulder.
"But why, I thought you wanted me gone, I thought you'd be happy. Plus the Commanders from Platoon Eight want me gone too." She asked confused, but then decided to get smart.
"Oh bull, they just want you because they're jealous Platoon Seven has the strongest members, also Commander Cornwall is from Platoon Six, where you came from." I said coughing as Harris blew a puff of smoke in face.
"Listen, you're staying whether you like it or not." Harris said, which made Ashe quiver for a second before controlling herself.
"You two realize you have yet to give me a solid reason for staying or why I can't leave." Ashe said with an amused expression on her face.
"Sorry, did you want one, because last time I checked you're apart of Platoon Seven and you have to listen to us, so you shouldn't question our orders." Harris said getting fed up, I wanted to smack him upside the head for causing a scene, but thought 'that will probably make things worse', so I refrained and punched a wooden pole next to me, accidentally breaking it. "What the... why on God's name did you just assault that pole, what it do?" Harris asked as if feeling sympathetic towards the pole.
"It was the pole or you, which would you prefer?" I asked rhetorically, to which he stared at me for ten seconds and then stalk off, blowing a huge puff of smoke as he walk back to the lodge.
"You, go with the others and pack, we move out tonight." I barked at Ashe and she quickly darted off.
"I see you aren't to kind to the idea of us taking Ashe with us." One the commanders from Platoon Eight said.
"Well she has no reason to go with you since she was from Platoon Six, and she is now a member of Platoon Seven, so you really have no claim to the girl." I said as if I didn't know her name, as she was an object to be pawned, I didn't feel that way though, I still see everyone as a human being, but she just irks me. The other commander seemed annoyed with my choice. I could care less though, in my opinion a lot of the commanders don't deserve their positions, most came from families with long lines of military service so they get a free pass, it means they can join and become commanders instantly, whereas people like Harris and I have to spend years to get where we are now, if Ashe had ever hoped of becoming a commander she'd have better luck getting struck by lightning.
I walk back to the lodge after forcing the commanders from Platoon Eight to leave. I have little time now, but that was never really a problem for me, except when I was exhausted, then I'd procrastinate until death came. I walked in the lodge to find everything emptied out except to trunks, with a smoking Harris sprawled out on top. "Hey Xayah, what's up, or rather what's down?" He said as he situated his head upside down, his hair falling down, revealing his forehead.
"Harris what the hell are you doing?" I asked shaking my head.
"Waiting for, but since you're here we can go." He said springing up from the trunks and stumbling a bit as the blood rushed from his head, I could tell he regretted his decision.
"You know we don't leave till 21:30 right?" I asked and he turned around and looked defeated and annoyed at the same time, I couldn't help but laugh as he glared at me.
"It's not funny Xayah, I could have been sleeping right now, but no I packed your stuff and mine, five hours early!"
"Why are you acting like this is my fault, I didn't do anything, you should've listened to me." I said walking up to him and taking the cigarette from his mouth and stomped out the bud. Harris opened his mouth to say something, but only air escaped. "Let's go load these up, better early than late." I said picking up my trunk.
I forgot how annoying it was to walk with the trunk hitting the swords on my belt. I breathed a sigh of relief when I put it down. Shortly after Harris brought his out, followed by the others. Some seemed to drag along, others as spry as child. I wish they had gotten their quicker, I was ready to leave, and Harris was too, he had run out of cigarettes and wanted to get some more.
"Do we have a new assignment, Commander Xayah?" One of the lieutenants asked.
"Yes, they want us moved to be closer to a group of 'misguided' Hezguards for recon and, if it comes to it, termination. Any other questions?" I asked starting to yawn.
"No Commander, that was all." They said and walked off.
*****************************************
We've been on the road for awhile now, some of the younger ones have crashed, I have to say I'm quite jealous, but alas I can't take the slumber I so desire, I instead have to be on stand by in case Harris falls asleep at the wheel. Good news is we're almost there, bad news is, we're almost there. I have now desire to deal with Hezguards, but orders are orders.
"South for 500 miles, destination is on your left." the navigation said, and I nudged Harris, he just nodded showing he heard it.
"Arrived"
"Well this place is a total shithole." Ashe snuck up behind us, freaking Harris out, causing him to lay on the horn.
"Well were you expecting a quality inn?" I asked rhetorically, the only thing I want to do was crash on the first thing I saw.
