Chereads / The Last Soldiers / Chapter 31 - Showing Weakness

Chapter 31 - Showing Weakness

Donald spent the

whole afternoon in the bar till it was evening when the bar became lively. He

wasn't drunk yet but he had drunk as much as he could and his breath carried

the stench of alcohol.

He sat there with a blank look, while pushing his glass

around with one hand. He was hurt. He was in deep thought.

He looked around and found several beauties sitting around

at the bar and his eyes flickered. His only comfort.

He staggered up from his seat and walked towards the nearest

lady. She had a pretty face and a good figure though these didn't matter to

Donald. He would take any lady regardless of whether they were pretty or had

good body types.

It took him a little effort and few words to convince the

lady to go home with him. He led her to his car and they got in. he was still

sober enough to drive but yet he hoped that no police officers would pull him

over.

He soon arrived home and took the lady inside. "You should

sit for a while." He gave her a dazzling smile and a warm kiss on the lips.

The lady felt tiny butterflies in her stomach and her feet

melted. She sat down with a smile. Donald patted her cheek, "let me get some

drinks before the fun begins."

He left and went to his room.

The lady looked around the house with an amazed look. It was

pretty and huge. Everything she had ever dreamt of. The furniture was really

expensive and soft. Her admiration was cut short when the front door opened and

another woman walked in with a back pack.

Her hair was tied into a pony tail and she looked

exceptionally beautiful and had a unique charm around her. She didn't seem

simple at all and this was further strengthened when the newcomer frowned at

her.

"What are you doing in my house?" she asked putting down her

back. It was Priscilla who had just returned from the military HQ.

The lady gulped and opened her mouth but nothing came out.

"I asked you a question!"

"I…I came with Donald…" she stuttered.

"You came in with my husband? What sort of rubbish is that?"

Priscilla raised her eyebrows and walked closer and closer.

The lady gulped. "I didn't know he was married!"

"You didn't? Did you even look at his finger?" Priscilla

glared down at the lady who was sweating bullets. She was smiling inwardly. Donald

never wore a ring but it was still fun to ruin his day and spoil his plans for

the night.

"What's going on here?" Donald saw the two acting weird and

didn't understand what to think. He had a bottle of wine in his hand.

"Is this what you do when I'm out of the house?" Priscilla

turned to glare at him too. "You brought in a whore just to replace me in our

matrimonial home?"

"I didn't know…" the lady kept pleading. She wanted to be

anywhere but this house right now.

"Priscilla what…"

"Save it!" she cut him and turned to the lady and ordered, "Get

out of here this minute!"

Without waiting to hear it twice, she scrambled out of the

house in haste. She was really terrified of the overbearing woman who seemed

like she wanted to kill her at any moment. She was actually relieved a little

when she told her to run off.

Inside the house, Donald stared at Priscilla with mouth

hanging open. He didn't know what to say or how to phrase his unhappiness.

Priscilla smiled with content and sat down. Donald finally found

his voice. He put down the bottle of wine and returned a glare. "What did you

just do? You drove her away!"

"I just saved a fellow woman from falling into your trap."

Priscilla smiled broadly.

"You just added to my frustrations do you know that?" he

said and sat down with disappointment. He had brought back that woman so he

could use her to unwind and clear his head and maybe mend his hurting soul but

she had ruined it for him.

"Just pretending to be your wife made me want to puke."

Priscilla added after a while.

"If it irritated you that much then why'd you do it?"

Priscilla looked at him carefully and realised that he was

not his usual self. Donald would always be cheerful and happy and he would

never have a conversation with her without hinting of his desire to sleep with

her.

She pursed her lips and contemplated before asking, "What

happened at the hospital?"

Donald sighed. There was no point in not telling her so he

decided to tell her all about it. "The worst part is that my father heard about

it and he mentioned something that hurt me badly."

Priscilla patted his shoulder. "Don't you think that your

play boy character is overrated? Maybe it's time you found love."

Donald glanced at her and then looked down at the floor. "I

don't deserve love."

"Are you afraid to give love or you feel you don't deserve

to be loved?"

"I don't deserve to be loved and I have no love in me to

give." He said simply but his eyes carried heavy emotions.

"So womanizing is a sort of punishment?" Priscilla wanted to

understand his way of thinking as well. She had known him for the most part of

15 years but she never knew why he does what he does.

"Is it because of her?" she asked after a short pause. "Maybe

you should look for her."

Donald gave her a bitter smile. "I can't face her and I'm

pretty sure that she wouldn't want to see my disgusting face after so many

years."

Priscilla only looked at him without saying anything.

"Sometimes I wished it was me instead." He continued with

his voice choking now. "How could I have known that she was underage?"

Tears ran down his cheeks. Priscilla felt sorry for him. She

hugged him tight to comfort him. This is one of the few times she had ever seen

this man show weakness.

"It will alright." She said in a hushed voice.
