As Pavitra looked around the rebel forces had seeming stopped rushing into the courtyard to try and stop them they were beginning to pull back away from the courtyard and towards the bridge.
She then noticed that the forces that were with had taken some damage, though even with losing their comrades no one seemed to blame her for it. This probably due to the raw amount that she had held off and killed by herself. Her sword skills combined with her magic had meant that at certain points of the battle, she had held off all of the rebel shoulders on her at points. It was a powerful display that they all could be sure about.
Then coming off of the walls, the normal soldiers began to arrive it seems like they had succeeded in their mission as well. Though they had a tougher time. It seemed like some elite rebel soldiers had been on the walls and the tenth regiment had sustained some serious losses.
Seeing this, Pavitra frowned a bit. Then yelled, "Order the eleventh to get in here and join us!" A messenger quickly ran off to carry her orders to that regiment. Then she looked at the rest of the soldiers. "Everyone else, follow me! Let's take the bridge and storm the other side!"
Everyone roared out and quickly they were all running down the pathways and reached the bridge. In the middle of it, some rebels had been left behind to cover the retreat of the remaining rebel soldiers.
She saw them and just yelled. "Charge!"
Running in front of them all, Pavitra quickly reached the rebels. She jumped a little and as she landed, swinging her sword with her. A burst of fire erupted out, making a hole in the middle of their formation. This was quickly rushed through the soldiers behind her, divining the rebel soldiers in two. Then she carried on running to the other side of the bridge. Some soldiers followed her, mainly from the ninth regiment. The rest stayed back to make sure that the rebel rear guard was wiped out and so that they wouldn't cause any more harm.
The run this time felt longer and they had even been noticed!
A few arrows flew past and landed into the bodies of the charging soldiers, but there was no serious volley fired. Meaning that the charge wasn't even affected by the arrows. As they got closer to the gate, some rebels were still trying to get through. Seeing her though, they forced to turn around as the gate to the other side of the bridge began to close.
Crash!
The charge couldn't be slowed and the soldiers and Pavitra rammed straight into the rebel soldiers. Bodies flew both sides and soon screaming could be heard ringing out. Her sword danced around as she cut and stabbed every inch of skin that could be seen to force her way through.
Soon she even came out of the other side of this, covered head to toe in blood. She looked more like a demon at this point than a Princess.
She screamed as she carried on charging forwards. Only one thought went through her mind and that was 'If the gate closes even more will be killed.' Just as the gate was about to be closed, she managed to arrive and forced her sword through the chest of the only rebel that she could.
Then she leaped through the small gap that was there, just landing on her feet.
Behind her, the gate shut with a massive clang!
She then quickly pivoted around and cut down the few rebels who were trying to seal the gate. In only three slashes, three more dead bodies were littering the floor. Then she began to pull the gate open a bit when she heard a voice behind her.
"What do we have here now?"
The person who spoke was a rebel soldier. His equipment looked to be much better than what the rest was wearing though. As she looked more, she realized that it was a lot like the armor the royal guard wore. A full set of chain mail, which had leather amour pieces on top. As she looked at the face of the guard she didn't recognize him though.
Seeing her straining look, he let her carry on. Once she was done he finally spoke again. "You don't recognize me, huh. I guess you were only a baby back then your highness. I was the guard in charge of the Queen…" He stopped then and barely whispered, "Your mother...I am sorry what happened. I was ordered aw…"
Pavitra had long since lost it, after hearing that he was the guard in charge of her mother. It meant that her safety he was responsible for, so therefore he was also responsible for her death.
She stabbed forward and alongside that a burst of flame through straight for him.
The ex-royal guard only smiled and stepped to the side out of the burst of flames.
"Listen to me!"
She wouldn't stop though and had rushed up to get close to him. In her rage, she had forgotten all that she learned of sword moves and was relying on a more savage and primitive style. She was just swinging and swinging and swinging. Using her sword more like an ax than anything. It would have been easy enough to deal with, but with every swing, a slash of fire would erupt out as well.
This led to the guard having to dodge over and over again. The ground had long since been littered with black slash marks from her firey slashes.
While the two were fighting, the gate had been pushed open and Shourya came racing through alongside a variety of soldiers. Pallavi though was the one who was leading all of the soldiers. Seeing the fight in the middle, she quickly assessed the situation and gave out her orders. "You take troops and secure the gate, Lieutenant SHourya takes some soldiers and secure that building and you take some men and secure that building. The rest of you follow me!"
Everyone heeded her orders and like he was told, Shourya ran into one of the buildings on the side of the courtyard. Behind were ten random soldiers. The organization of the troops had been long since lost at this point. Inside of the building, he quickly found a few rebels running around.
The first was holding an ax and charged at him, the ax was being swung around madly. Shourya stayed back then, he one fluid move. He lunged forward and plunged his sword through the chest of the ax wielder. Then he ripped it out and with a quick pivot on his left foot, he ended the axman with a slash on his neck.
Then he and the soldiers behind him slowly made their way through the building. Killing off anyone who they found, it reached the point though where they would smash down a door and the rebels would surrender. Not sure what he should do, Shourya had all of their wrists and bound and took the prisoner. After clearing the building, he led the prisoners outside only to see that the duel Pavitra was having had yet to end.
Now the two were just circling each other. Not one of them saying a word or making a move. Pavitra herself had come out of her rage fulled mode and now was much calmer, this just made her more dangerous as the rebel had found out after she landed a slash across his arm. He in pain had retailed and grazed her cheek. After that each had caused lots of minor injuries to the other, causing lots of small cuts to be seen. There amour having been ruined at this point.
They both knew though that at this point, their next charge would be the last one. They were both tired. With a scream, Pavirta charged at him. Her sword trailed behind her so that he wouldn't be able to see what kind of attack she would make. Then once she was close, she lept for stabbing with the sword. He wasn't ready for that but managed to roll out of the way, as he stood up. He swung down, she thought was ready, and smashed his sword out of the way and plunged her's into his gut.
It was finally over. As she yanked out her blade, he collapsed to his knees. His covering the wound, trying to stop the bleeding as well as he could. Pavitra stood in front of him, then she kicked his gut causing him to scream out in pain as he fell to the ground.
She raised her sword, to end the whole thing. He looked up and then began to speak.
"Wait..wait. The day it happened. The day your mother was killed. I got an order from the king to stay away." He then coughed up a load of blood, he tried to wipe it away but failed miserably, leaving a red smear across his face. Pavitra had frozen in place though and was listening to what he said.
"I rushed in as soon as I heard fighting. There were soldiers, in black uniforms. Like royal guards...it was the…"
Then his head fell back to the floor.
He was dead.
Pavitra was frozen. What had happened that day?
