Mason and Ilona had kissed as the pirates cheered. Once they were officially married, the men gathered the torches, and they all set off back down the beach to their camp and the waiting food. It made sense to Ilona now why her mother had prepared so much. It was for the celebration.
The couple would have liked to speak to one another a bit more, but everyone was excited, talking, joking, and laughing. The men asked Mason many questions and teased him about the things he wouldn't be able to do since he was married now. Most of them he wouldn't be able to anyway while they were trapped on the island, but they laughed all the same.
For the first time since coming to the island, and maybe even since they set sail so long ago, their spirits were high and they were truly happy. A wedding made the future seem a bit brighter. It gave them hope. If Ilona and Mason were going to go ahead with their lives, the others figured they should as well.
