It wasn't long before Jamie dropped back into the open space and smiled.
"Our luck might be changing men," he teased, "The sun is just beginning to set."
The men chuckled and agreed, ready for something to go their way at last.
"Let's wait down here a bit longer then," Mason said, "Until it's plenty dark. The dragons might still be nearby now that the beast this territory belonged to is dead. Plus, they may still be waiting for us to show up again so they can have a meal."
"Killjoy," Jamie rolled his eyes, but they all agreed it was for the best. They settled in to wait a while until it was safe to leave the tunnel without worrying about being eaten.
