Mason felt the gazes of Nick and Jamie burning into his back. He knew if he turned around, he would find matching pairs of chocolate eyes looking at him in either anger or disbelief.
He couldn't blame them. He had said plenty about it being a foolish plan to try to kill the dragons.
He had known deep down though, that it would need to be done if they were going to survive. It had been different when it was only he and Ilona. He could keep the two of them safe. But there was no way he would be able to keep her family and his friends safe as well. Not to mention the rest of the crew. There were just too many of them.
Pierce Vane glared at him now, his lip curled up in a sort of snarl. His beetle-like eyes flicked over the Prince, judging him.
Mason knew the man would not take kindly to being upstaged like this, but he would have to get over it.
Vane's plan would end with them all dead, and Mason's would not.
