Mason and Ilona snuck back down the hill and into the safety of the dense jungle cover. Once there, they hurried along the ledge back to the place by the pool of fresh water where they could climb down again.
They barely made a sound as they walked quickly to their makeshift tent and slipped inside. It was only once they had sat down that Ilona held up her hands and realized they were still trembling. Seeing this, Mason reached out and took them into his own, giving her hands a reassuring squeeze.
"Everything is going to be alright. I promise."
"How is everything going to be alright, Mace?" Ilona squeaked, "We're on an uncharted island ruled by dragons, and everyone who could come to rescue us thinks we're dead."
