Ilona ran her hands over her face before looking up at Nick and Jamie, who now sat in the chairs across from her desk, sweaty and exhausted. Once she had regained her composure after talking to Pierce, she had immediately called for them.
She told them all Pierce had said and showed them the note that had come from their father. Both boys had paled when they read it. They knew their father's wrath could be brutal. Now, they were all left feeling anxious about their father and angry about the quarter master's lies.
"I think you should throw him in the brig until we reach The Red Lands," Nick said, his clenched fists sitting on the arms of the chair.
"Then we can leave him there," Jamie spat, being the one with the worse temper.
"I can't lock him up," Ilona shook her head, "Most of the crew is more loyal to him than me... and if I did, I would have no one to replace him."
