Chapter 86 - The Ship

      While Ilona and Mason ate their dinner, Mason asked questions about the ship, and Ilona answered them.  When they had finished, neither one of them was very interested in parting ways.  After a moment of hesitation, Mason asked the pirate if she might walk along the decks with him and continue their lesson.

      Ilona almost said no, worrying what her crew might think.  Then she pushed that aside.  Who were they to tell her she couldn't teach the Prince more about the ship?  She was the captain of it, after all.

    "So that's the rudder," she informed him, pointing down towards the water as they leaned over the back rail a while later, "That's how you steer..."

      "And this is a scupper... It lets the water that splashes onto the deck wash back off again."

      Mason looked at the holes close to the deck that ran along the rails of the ship.  He had figured out what they would be used for, but he would never have guessed the name.
