Chapter 2 - Power of the Eclipse

After waking to Grencivia, Luck was concerned she had passed out while falling off the roof. She wondered what condition her body was in back on Earth. This time the circumstances she awoke to were much different than normal. Luck was wearing the same clothes she had back on Earth. They were fluffy pajama pants with a bunny print and a plain t-shirt. She also only ever arrived outdoors in places a bit out from civilization, and this time she awoke in a bedroom and surrounded by people as well. She felt quite dazed as well this time like she was out of it, and normally it was like waking from a restful night of rest.

Everyone around the bed just stared at her silently. The door opened, and the man who walked in broke the silence. "It appears everything went smoothly; her DNA matches both the Queen and the King's," said a tall man wearing moss green robes, a gold-rimmed spectacle, and several rings. Luck recognized him to be Tressis Gardealin, the Grand Mage. She took note that his long hair that was in a ponytail was brunette and that he had green eyes. "I'm sorry everyone in the room is so tense; they must be quite shocked. How are you feeling?" said Tressis to Luck.

"I'm feeling fine, but I'm rather confused. You're not shocked by my appearance here?" she responded.

"Hahaha, why would I be shocked? I'm the one who summoned you here!" he exclaimed jovially.

"You brought me here?" Luck questioned. The memories of her last visit flashed through her head. She realized that she was the real princess the Grand Mage summoned; her realization made her feel even further confused.

"You seem to be more confused about me having brought you here than being here at all. Have you by chance been here before? Do you know this place?" Tressis asked eagerly.

"I've been here several times in my dreams, but several of the circumstances of my arrival were different," Luck replied.

"Fascinating! I have so much I would like to ask now." Tressis exclaimed.

"Okay?" Luck replied uncertainly.

"Now, isn't the time for that though; I had to pull you from an entirely different world! My magic is quite depleted, but the stress on your body, having made the journey, is much more intense! You'll need to rest for a few days, and you'll need your health checked on frequently," rambled Tressis.

Luck found it difficult to follow his speech with her cloudy mind, and she soon drifted to sleep.

This time Luck dreamed of Earth. She arrived in a park nearby her home. "What in the world is going on?" she thought after waking. Things are getting weird. The clothing she arrived in was different than anything she owned. She walked to her home, but when she walked in the door, her mom, Beatrice, looked frightened.

"Who are you?!" she exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" Luck replied.

"What makes you think you can walk into my house?" Beatrice said defensively. Several footsteps rumbled as the rest of the family gathered in the front room of the entrance.

"I'm your daughter," Luck replied with a confused tone.

"Mommy, what's going on? Who is that girl?" said Belle, Luck's sister.

"I don't know, sweetie, but mommy's going to resolve it. Okay?" said Beatrice.

"Okay, mommy," said Belle.

"You should leave," said Luck's brother, Asher.

"Okay? I'm leaving then," Luck replied. She turned and open the door.

She heard Asher say, "good" as she left.

Luck left with mixed feelings. Sure, she was at odds with her mom often, but she still cared about and loved her. She cared for her whole family, but no one knew who she was anymore. If they did, then, she found it to be a sick joke. Part of her felt relieved that she didn't need to meet any expectations anymore, but the other part felt devastated and sick. How could her 18 years spent with her family be so easily forgotten? How could the people who loved her forget her? Would she ever be remembered by them? These thoughts swirled through her mind, as she swung on the swing at the nearby park she arrived. What felt like several hours passed until she was pulled back to Grencivia.

She awoke to several nurses and maids tending to her.

"Hello, my Princess. You appear to be waking. Is there anything I can get you?" said an older woman with kind brown eyes and grey hair.

"Some water would be nice. Thank you," said Luck with a froggy voice. The maids and nurses tended to her needs for the next few days, but she hadn't seen the King or Queen since she first awoke.

On the fourth day of her stay in Grencivia, Tressis Gardealin came back to help clarify things and to learn more about what she was speaking about on her arrival day. "I wouldn't typically explain things myself, but you seem to have a unique experience I would love to learn all about. Based on what you told me, you seem to have been using magic subconsciously, which is fascinating because that would suggest that you have an impressive aptitude for magic. So how do you know of Grencivia? Have you been here often? What do you know of the land? Who knows of your existence? Oh my! I seem to be getting ahead of myself. Let me start with the first question. How do you know of Grencivia?" said Tressis with much excitement.

"Well, I've been coming here fairly frequently since I was little...ever since I can remember," replied Luck thoughtfully.

"Interesting. What were the circumstances that were different than your arrival that was brought about by me?" asked Tressis.

"Normally, I would arrive somewhere a bit off from civilization, and it would feel like waking from a full night of rest. I would also arrive wearing various outfits that would be found in this world. I would never arrive in clothes back from Earth," said Luck.

"I would love to ask all about this so-called Earth, but I feel that would overwhelm you. I would assume you know much about our world given that you said you've been here frequently throughout the years."

"That is correct."

"Hmm, who knows about you here then?" asked Tressis inquisitively.

"Well, it's kind of embarrassing. I thought I was dreaming this whole time, so I kind of did a lot of things I wouldn't in the real world. I may have been an infamous troublemaker, so I'm sure plenty of people in certain areas know who I am," said Luck sheepishly.

"I see."

"Hahaha, yeahhh. Ever heard of Luck and Puck?"

"Actually, I have. I've heard many stories of the two. I've even been offered money to summon them to capture them because they've never been caught," said Tressis.

"Well yeah, I'm Luck," said Luck still sheepish.

"I dare say, you've made quite the name for yourself. If people find out the found Princess is the notorious Luck, it could cause quite the political stir in Grencivia. A lot of your later mischief has been speculated to be politically charged after all," said Tressis surprised.

"This is true," said Luck.

"I'll keep my tongue tied about this. A new Princess is enough news; we don't need to add fuel to the fire," responded Tressis.

"Thanks, but I have some questions for you as well."

"Fair enough," replied Tressis.

"Would you have happened to erase my existence on Earth?" asked Luck.

"Ah, how did you know? Part of the spell that summons also erases the existence of the one summoned if from another world. This keeps the lives of those who knew the one being summon undisrupted. It's a kindness to them in my opinion."

"Well, I visited Earth in my sleep, and the same conditions I would normally have experienced when visiting Grencivia applied here. My family however didn't know who I was; it was an unsettling experience for me. At least now I know why."

"Yes, I'm sorry you experienced that and based on what you've told me, you've been astral projecting in your sleep. I'm assuming you would be visiting here because of your connection having been born here, and you would have visited Earth because of your unnatural connection. Astral projecting in sleep isn't unheard of, but it's uncommon. I'm assuming your unique circumstances triggered this frequent occurrence," exclaimed Tressis passionately.

"I can see that," replied Luck.

"Unfortunately, we'll have to end our conversation here for now, but if you're up for it in the future, I would love to pick your brains about, uhh, Earth - is that what you called it?"

"Yes, it is."

"Okay, well I must be off. I hope you adjust to your circumstances quickly. Have a lovely rest of your day Princess!" said Tressis with a wink.

"Goodbye," replied Luck.

"Bye now," said Tressis with a wave as he closed the door to her quarters.

Luck was excited for what was yet to come, and she didn't even know what she'd say to Puck once she was able to contact him. Although she worried about how their relationship might change given her current reality shift.
