A new path unlocks for Roses journey. It may be risky but after that memory she had to face with her mother she now knows what her purpose in life is. Weeks later Rose and her guild got out of hospital healed by the scars that once blinded them. Luckily her father was able to pick her up and take her home. She had the urge to ask her father what happened when her mother died but sadly her father lost half of his memory's and only remembered the happy days where his wife loved and cared for him. She couldn't look him in the eyes. She knew what would happen if she told him despair, hatred and anger would only follow him till the end of his days. For the following weeks she ignored him until her emotions would keep in check. Soon after the school was opened and many people plastered happy faces chatting with there friends about the incident with the monster. Rose walked in scanning for where her friend Aiko was. Out of no where someone leaped onto her making her jump. She turned around to see Aiko standing there with a worried but also annoyed face. "What happened to you!?" She stomped her feet on the ground like a child. "You didn't answer any of the messages after the trial and all of a sudden you came back to school like nothing had happened!". Rose stood there like a lost puppy trying to calm her friend down who was clearly having a melt down in public. This wasn't the first this happened.
When Rose was only a child she broke her leg from falling of a tree trying to save a kitten that was stuck. When she arrived in hospital Aiko came in a rush worried that her friend might die and gave a whole lecture to stop doing things that are dangerous. Rose didn't mind at all. Her friend was just trying to protect her which she always loved about her. Rose laughed quietly holding her friends hand. "Don't worry Aiko I'm perfectly fine so please don't worry to much thankfully I recovered and sorry if I couldn't message you a lot of the doctors were strict" She said it in a calm and gentle way making sure she understood. Aiko just nodded to herself in relief thanking god for her safety. "Next time message or even call me if anything like this ever happens again!". Rose smiled and promised Aiko she would. They both walked to class chatting about the new winter outfits coming in stores and how they were excited about buying them. When they entered the class doors their teacher Miss. Hako greeted them and they took their seats sitting down putting there bags under there seats.
"Hey I heard you where recently dispatched from hospital were you from the guild that got attacked by the vicious monster?" They both looked to see a boy with ginger hair and black glasses which fitted him perfectly talking to Rose. She didn't know if she could tell him or not but Aiko already butted in talking for her. "Why do you want to know huh!" She stared right into his eyes like a tiger. "Aiko I don't think we should be that mean to him" Rose tried not to get embarrassed after what already happened. "Don't worry bestie! Your best friend will deal with this horse face!". "Excuse me!? I'm not a horse face and for your kind information the only reason I asked was because I'm part of the guild newspaper agents and we need to find information about what had happened!" He already didn't like Aiko from the first glance. "Eh!?! So what go find yourself someone else to pry on!" She waved him of. All he did was sigh and went back to digging in his notebook for drama. Nothing else happened like the conversation between Aiko and the mysterious boy never happened. The teacher clapped her hands softly and caught everyone's attention. "Dear class welcome to Mahou high school. You children have been picked by the higher ups to attend this school of high expectations and I hope soon you will become the best guild member in history to come" She didn't smile or even laugh she was like a leaf with no emotion only caring about the results we achieve.
Rose was determined to succeed no matter what happened this school is now her home and she must find what the world is trying to tell her. Class started and everything was normal. They had English for there first class and it was all about language and literature. Rose was good at English so she didn't mind the subject at all. But it was a little boring. It wasn't very adventuress nor exciting. Aiko was already lost and couldn't solve a single question on the quiz at the end of the class. The ginger hair boy from before was trying to catch her attention probably to say something important. She looked to her right to see him looking anxious yet surprised at the same time which confused Rose. Was something on her face or that he just noticed her? "Hey you were the kid that fought of the monster right?" He whispered making sure the teacher wasn't looking his way. "Yes that's correct but why are you asking?" She asked. "You see Hana wants to see you privately!". Rose wandered who Hana was and why they wanted to see her. The word Hana was familiar but she couldn't quite get it. After class she waited outside the classroom for Aiko to finish going to the bathroom to go to break but something caught her eye.
The same boy waved to Rose like he wanted her to follow him. The boy looked very suspicious to Rose but something made her want to go. She quietly followed him while everyone was talking loudly and laughing. The wind was no where to be seen. They were walking for a couple of minutes already reaching the outside of the walls. "Where are we going? And why are you taking me outside the walls?". But there was no response he still continued to walk ignoring the questions she was bottling up inside. Soon they arrived to a small cottage which was plain yet nice and comfortable. Why would a small cottage be outside the border? Nothing made sense but the ginger boy just told her to come in. She took a step in to see a small table with books scattered and two bedrooms with a kitchen and a extra room filling the whole cottage. Rose sat at the table not saying a single word. The ginger boy looked anxious hoping for something to happen. That's when a lady about twenty seven years old walked towards us like a giant looming over us. She looked scary like a warrior who just came from battle. A scar across her eye which showed the white pupil lifeless.
"So you bought her here huh kiddo?" The lady said peacefully. "Of course just like you wanted!" He seemed scared of her. Even Rose didn't feel safe around with a lady like her. "Well done you did good. It has been a long time since I last seen someone like her alive". Someone like her? What was she talking about. Rose looked down not meeting her eyes. "So your the kid that defeated the monster right? My name is Miss Hana but you may call me Hana for short". Her voice was calming and graceful but her looks were terrifying and beautiful. Rose never met a beautiful woman like her before. "My name is Rose and why am I here?". "Straight to the point I like it". "Amias please get us two green tea" She ordered him like he was her slave. Something about her didn't seem normal and she had to keep her guard up. "Now young lady tell me who is your mother?". The words she said already shocked her. Memories lost and family members dead how was she supposed to know. "I'm sorry Miss Hana but I don't know the answer to that one" Strict and selfish the tone of her voice was directing. Miss Hana sighed knowing Rose doesn't trust her yet. "Look you may not trust me but I know something about you power that no one else might know".
"And what's so important about my power that you might possibly know". "That your mother was trying to tell you something when the darkness took over you" She interrupted. The darkness? Was that the thing that kept suffocating her the power to do with darkness. "How do you know these things?" Rose didn't want to be the only one asking questions. Miss Hana grinned like the Cheshire cat like she expected her to ask something like this. "Because a long time ago someone had a power just like you dark yet powerful". "I don't understand if someone had the same power as me who are they and why would the power enter me then!?!". Rumours have been said that people who die would sometimes give their role to someone else as an heir or for special reasons but it was highly unlikely for something like this to happen. The ginger haired boy named Amias came back with two green teas pleasant and warm. Rose thanked him and took a sip carefully trying not to burn her lips.
Amias sat down next to Miss Hana and didn't say anything else until she was done speaking. "I served a woman once years ago in a battle field. She was ordered by the gods to defeat the opposing side without any hesitation from life to death. The woman was brave and fearless always having a joke and slaying the ones she called 'traitors' even though her heart was filled with anger and cold she was different from the others. She never gave up and always risked her life to save the ones she loved no matter how strong the opponent may be. But there was one rule she had to obey no matter what the situation was. Never be with the opposing side" Her voice lowered a little when she said the word 'opposing side' like it was a bad memory or something tragic she remembered. "But why could she not be with the opposing side?". "I don't know that myself all I do know is that she was a servant from the gods always having faith in them and because of that rules where put down onto her". Were gods even real? She remembered when she was a kid that the holy temple would always take care of the gods and angles and in return food, water, luck and a hint on what the future may behold will be the things to guide us. "Then why die..." A whisper of hope tried to reach out.
"Well two and a half years later the war was still going on until one day she met a man on the battle field. She fought against him with all her might but there eyes shimmered as bright as the stars when they first fell in love for each other. He said she was his hope and the beauty of a goddess. Such words flattered her and soon there love for each other grew more and more. Soon the angel named Hinote found out and told the gods of their relationship. She broke a rule of the gods so they warned her that if she proceeds to stay with him execution will be her punishment. But she didn't care. She told him about the gods and their plan for escaping through a letter. So one week later at midnight they ran far away from the gods to a small village. Until years later they got married and had a child but nothing always comes as planned. Hinote tracked them down and waited for the right time to come to ruin their life. The village was a nice and comfortable place with happy people that cared for them and food which was never ending. There daughter was only a child when the princess attacked the village and killed everyone they loved. The mother tried to kill the princess while the father fled with his daughter. Sadly the mother died and I believe that her power has been passed down to you".
The story made Rose emotional but she didn't cry as stories like these were always told by her father. The tragic story never had a happy ending or was she wrong? "What happened to the child...?" Her voice was unbalanced like the world was falling apart. "We don't know. That's why you need to train and find out yourself" Miss Hana finished her green tea and lowered her cup on the table like it was a delicate art piece. "What do you mean train?" Rose demanded. "I will train you to become a powerful leader to save the world from its new threat". "What new threat!?". The lady looked directly at her eyes trying to see what she was thinking to make her understand. "I heard from a little bird that the monsters have been keeping themselves busy these days with resurrecting that stupid princess or theirs" Grumbling noises came out of Miss Hana since she was sick and tired of these monsters trying out new ways to enter the city.
"But how? I mean she is completely gone! Nothing of her is left so how would they resurrect someone with nothing of theirs to use!?". Resurrecting people were normally used in ritual ceremonies by people called the 'scars'. Except they barely worked and were even called fake eighty years ago. But it was unusual for monsters to be doing it as they don't have the power to do it with. "Well I snuck into the house of records and found something about the stupid princesses ashes being scattered on the floor but when the original king tried to find it, it was no were to be seen so for a conclusion someone or something might of had already took it without anyone seeing". "Hana is right you know if anything she could help you with whatever you need just name the price but all we want is for your cooperation" Amias finally stepping in after being quite for nearly the whole conversation they both had. "Will I really get what I want..." Rose felt more serious than ever in her life. "Of course just tell me and I'll get it done". Rose took a minute to think. By helping these people she could find out about her mother and who could of had done this to her and the family she once loved.
"I agree to this matter but all I want is for you to help me on an investigation to find out what happened to my mother no matter what" Her words pinned through Amias and Miss Hana like a never ending bullet. Amias and Miss Hana both looked at each other deciding to accept it or not. "Fine but you better not tell anyone else about this". "And why not?" She questioned. "Because if anyone found out about this little meeting they will definitely tell the higher ups so remember kid even the people you love will betray you" The coldness of the room sparked to life. "Of course.." Rose mumbled walking back to school with her bag on one shoulder. Amias caught up with Rose seeing her downhearted emotions flooding in. "You should be happy. No one gets a one on one session with Hana herself" He chuckles sneering to himself. "Well not for me. I'm nothing but a mistake who mistakenly got some weird ass powers that I don't know of!". "That's not entirely true you know. That lady Hana spoke of must of had a reason for choosing you" He cracked a smile not wanting the conversation to get awkward. "Well then she must be brainless if she thinks someone like me can fight some dark resurrected princess from years ago". They both giggled like children feeling warm inside. She hasn't spoken like this to someone since the battle with the monster. "Just remember Miss strange lady the power you now have will forever be your future".
"The future huh..." She thought in her head. Was the future really gonna be easy or tough enough to end her life. No. She wasn't going to back down no matter what. If she wants to find out the secrets of her life then she needs to become stronger. Then she arrived back into school three minuets late for class Miss Hako looked concerned and stopped them in their tracks. "Where have you both been?" She said firmly. Rose didn't know what to say. She wasn't aloud to tell anyone yet the teacher is already asking them for an answer. "We had to go to the school nurse miss. Rose fell over so I took her immediately before her injuries could worsen" Amias already talked for her with a sigh of relief. "Then may I see your pass?". What else would he do. Talk it out with her or even bribe her with money. "Don't worry miss I have it right here" He said seriously handing over a note with todays date. She inspected it closely trying to find anything fishy. "Fine but next time please be carful now back to your seats you two" She instructed not letting a single one us talk behind her back. Rose could see Amias giving a little wink to her for inspiration.
A tiny laugh escaped through her lips. Amias smirked as friendly as he can different from how he was back in class with Aiko. They both sat down opening their books. "Everyone turn your pages to sixty one and revise the whispering spell for me". Rose started revising carefully over and over again. She couldn't quite understand what the meaning of it was but she kept fixated on her work. The windows were shut ready for winter to come. The summer happiness has washed away and its time for the cold snow to arrive. Luckily the air wasn't bad today and the heat and texture of the hot breeze calmed her down. She liked winter more than summer as it was a new beginning for life. But not a good beginning. Monsters arriving, princess being resurrected, food shortages already happening and the mysterious power nothing is going to be easy for her any more. "Rose? Are you awake?". Roses eyes quickly blinked wide open to see her teacher in front of her. Was she sleeping this whole time? "Please forgive me teacher I didn't sleep much after the attack!" Rose bowed a little with her apologetic face. "Its alright but if the attack is affecting your health please come see me straight away or any teacher it wont be good for your day to day life if this keeps going on" The teacher had a concerned face but all she did was smile a little and walked back to the front of the class teaching again.
How long has she been sleeping for? It didn't matter any more and she went back to working through her books. Hours passed and her classes ended. It was time for lunch and she went to the cafeteria grabbing her hot lunch and sitting at one of the tables nearby the window to see the tremendous view. While eating anxiously something was on her mind. "How is it that on the day of the attack there were no cameras or evidence of everyone leaving the forest.." She whispered to herself. Something wasn't right and she knew it. The captain came on his behalf to the hospital to apologize about forgetting them but wasn't there a record of their names and wasn't their magic protectors to stop high level bosses from coming in!?! Nothing felt real any more. Its like this whole thing is a game of chess. Like Rose was the main piece of the game to win or loose depending on what strategy she uses. Like back then if she noticed the way Yui wasn't feeling alright and left the forest wouldn't they have less injuries. Unexpectedly someone poked her back trying to catch her attention. Rose looked to see her guild sitting down at her table. "Are you alright Rose? You seemed deep in thought and we didn't want to disturb you" Yui smiled tenderly. "Oh really? Sorry I must of had thought of a nightmare" She plastered a fake smile to hide away the pain she feels. Rin glared at her like he knew how she really felt on the inside and the pain she has been hiding for ages now. "Look just make sure you don't end up doing something really stupid ok you idiot!" Rin stopped meeting her gaze and leaned back on the chair closing his eyes.
"What's with him these days?" Ichika leaned over to Katsu's ear. "I don't know myself" He scratched his head again confused. "So Rose have you wondered what role you may pick?" Ichika said. "What are you talking about?" Rose asked looking at everyone else for an answer. Ichika chuckled to herself greedily making Rose a little uncomfortable. "You see now that your role hasn't been given to you the captain aloud you to pick your own role for the first time in history!" Ichika explained jumping out of her chair throwing her fist in the air. "Isn't that amazing I mean you can pick whatever you want to be!" Katsu stuffed his face in his food enjoying it. "Oh! You might want to be a healer" Yui murmured. "Of course not a mage fits her well" Katsu barked. "Stop whining you two! I'm the only mage in this guild! And she could be a tamer instead" Across the table Ichika was annoyed at Katsu for what he said. Everyone started having an argument while Rose sat there not knowing what to say. "All of you be quite I'm sleeping" Rin mumbled but everyone kept raising there voice at each other. "I said be quite". But they still continued like Rin was invisible. "All of you SHUT UP!" He slammed his leg on the table nearly leaving a mark there.
Everyone closed their mouths before Rin would burst in anger. Rose always knew him as the anger management boy at the time and he still was luckily it saved her this time from the argument escalating. "Let the goddam woman chose herself!". Everyone sighed regretting what they did. "Fine but I hope it wont be anything bad!" Ichika grumbled. "Well um guys sorry for bursting your imagination but.." She took time with her words trying not to sound reckless or anything. "I just don't think I want to have a role..". Katsu spit his drink out in shock while everyone else was chocking on their food. "Are you serious after coming all this way to finally be in this school and now your bailing!" Ichika started shaking Rose if she was some kind of broken toy. "Please calm down everyone I was just thinking of the idea but I may also need time to reconsider" Her words seemed raspy but she couldn't make up her mind. She needed time to think and she quickly ate her food leaving the table. Was she being to harsh on them? She put her plate away and walked back to the classroom to collect her things when she seen her teacher their standing by the window gazing at the tremendous view and the cherry trees withering away. She wasn't moving an inch like the sadness in her eyes corrupted her.
"Teacher are you alright?" She asked. The teacher bolted fixing her uniform and wiping away the tears that marked her face. "Of course why else wouldn't I be?". "Oh well I'm sorry for disturbing you I just wanted to get my bag" Rose rushed to her seat grabbing her bag laying it on her shoulder. Before she walked out of the class she turned around staring at her teacher. "May I ask you something before I go...". Miss Hako put her trembling hands behind her back and walked up to Rose. "Yes of course". "What role would you want to get if you could restart". Miss Hako stood their confused at why she asked a question like that. "Is their a reason behind it?" She tilted her head. "Well yes the captain said that I can choose my own role but I never thought of something like that before so I wanted to ask you". "Well..." She took time to think about what she would have wanted. "I always wanted to be a magical knight". Rose was astonished to hear these words out of her mouth. "But why is that? I mean isn't it dangerous?". "Well of course for the past couple of years magical knights have been disappearing and less magical knights roles were coming in so yes it would have been". "What do you mean by less roles?". Miss Hako sat down at her desk taking a sip of her coffee. She needed time to calm down and Rose walked in front of her pleading for an answer. "If you want to know so bad then I will tell you. After the original king died his son took over the thrown but it was said that he was in love with a commoner and he had to end his relationship with her. But no one knew the commoner was a witch so years later the new king arrived and the same commoner had a child and the child fell in love with the king. So she used her power to be able to look rich and soon the king fell in love with her. But one day she got exposed and had to fake her death but sadly the girls mother who was the witch found out and cursed the kings role which was the magical knights and some were banished and some never get the role for it".
The story was shocking to Rose and how the witch cursed the role. "But if her daughter was still alive why would she curse him?". "Because Miss Rose while the daughter ran away the mother thought she died and cursed the king for her death". Rose heard of a different story than this one but that story she just heard now felt so real and tragic. Do these story's have a meaning behind it all? "So what happened to the ones left standing?". "They fought for their lives. They stand for justice and save the lives of millions. They stand brave and tall from every role giving their last breath for humanity" Her words were sharper than a knife. "Magical knights devote their lives Miss Rose to protect and serve. They are the leaders and without them we would be in danger by now". Rose finally knew what role she truly wanted. "Thank you Miss!" Rose ran out of the door thrilled. The teacher shrugged ignoring her and going back to doing her work.
While Rose was rushing out of the door she banged into someone falling to the ground. "I'm sorry are you alright?". "Oh Rose its you good to see you again!". She looked up to see him. Why was he here after all this time..
